Once again, the Bradley and Hankins operations have brought their best to the 2022 Fall Colors Sale. Only two years in and the quality has taken a major step in the right direction. We feel that we have reached the right balance of show heifer prospects, bred cattle, and fall pairs for your appraisal. The goal of this sale is to offer cattle that look good in the show ring and produce for you in the pasture. This year’s event will feature 5 open show heifers, both Charolais and Red Angus. We are confident that these opens will allow your family to compete at the highest levels throughout their career. The bred heifer division is without a doubt as good as can be found in the nation. And after much success in last year’s sale, we decided to add more numbers to the fall pair divisions. We feel that these cows with calves at side offer you a head start on returning your investment.

Much like last year, lot 1 has been a farm favorite since day one. This direct daughter of the great TR CAG Carbon Copy puts together so many things that you want in a show heifer and brood cow prospect. She is attractive from the side, being well balanced, and impeccable in her shoulder and front-end assembly. Couple that with her center mass, powerful hip and showy hindleg she checks all the boxes. You will like her even more when you study her pedigree. Set aside the Carbon Copy sire and the M&M Outsider on her bottom side and focus in on TR Ms. Wyoming Wind 5604R on the bottom side of her dam. 5604R is the dam of 149 progeny in the AICA database including TR Ms. Wylie Fire 0761X, owned by Wild Indian Acres, Zehnder and Southern, as well as the $105,000 TR Ms. Montella 1572Y. Many young daughters of 5604R are just entering the prime of their lives. Females that look the part and are bred like this don’t come around very often.

From a show heifer perspective, this could end up being the best open in the sale. Her design and build are unmatched. Clean fronted and attractive through head and neck, and complete from there back. You will appreciate her square, stout hip that ties deep into her quarter. Her sire, TR CAG Carbine’s Vision, is producing cattle that have a little more substance to them and still have the look to compete in the ring. Another bonus of lot 2 is her build at the ground. She is big, square footed, flexible at the ground and loose spined.
This Carbine’s Vision daughter is bred as well as they come. Her dam, HF Belle 1706, produced the high selling open heifer in the 2021 Fall Colors sale to Abby Fowler, Omaha, Ar., as well as a bred heifer that sold to Steve Henson in Ohio. From the shoulder back, you will not find a hole in this January-born female. Bold in her forerib, deep centered, stout from hooks to pins and built wide at the ground.
I really like lot 4. Every time I see her, she becomes more eye catching. When you study her from the side you will find a balanced, well-built female who has all the right angles to make a high-quality show heifer. You will appreciate her strong hip and hind leg while still blending well into her shoulder and coming out of that shoulder high with a keen head and clean jaw. Looking at her pedigree you will notice something different on the bottom side. DCR Mr. Substance A240 was one of the first sons of LT Ledger to sell. Thomas Ranch purchased Substance for $42,000 to anchor their herd bull battery. While offspring are limited due to his early death, the Substance progeny add performance and mass without question. Lot 5 is a brood cow in the making. She blends two of the best cows in the entire breed into her pedigree. M&M Ms. Carbine 1567 PLD, the dam of Outsider who needs no introduction, and HC Rhinestone 5100 who is the dam of RBM TR Rhinestone Z38, RBM Fargo Y111 and RBM 5100 Rhinestone E32, the dam of the $102,000 heifer calf sold by Effling in 2020. We think this heifer has tremendous potential as a junior show project but moreover when put into production she will begin to show her true colors.

A true sale feature, this yearling Red Angus female has plenty of show career left, on top of what will prove to be a prolific career as a donor. Sired by ROJAS TR Chivas 17109, who’s 5 progeny in the 2021 Fall Colors sale averaged $6,200. 1117 offers immense flexibility when it comes to how you decide to manage her. She is built to make a long-term show heifer, with her impeccable foot structure and skeleton combined with her depth of rib and presence from the side. If production is more your goal, she can be mated to meet any need. Her pedigree allows the ability to breed her too just about anything. Plus, for a female with this kind of phenotype, she offers a more than adequate EPD tabulation in several areas. If you want to invest in this female and have her remain at Hankins Farms through her show career, I am sure Jessi will be more than happy to accept the challenge.

The lead-off spring born Red Angus open heifer, is worth making the trip to Republic, America. Lot 7 is only an April born female and she is getting better and better every day. She hits hard with the impression she gives of her striking front end, coming out of the top of her shoulder with a great neck and head. From there back, she is ultra-complete in her forerib, center body and hip and hind leg design. Red Angus heifers with this kind of look are very rare, couple that with her power from behind and you have a force to be reckoned with. Her full sib bull, 1BBC Renegade 040, sold to Aces Wild Ranch in the 2021 Fall Colors and now stands in Millsap, Texas as a lead herd sire. By the time the sale rolls around you are going to like this heifer. Admittedly, a little behind this summer this one has the tools to grab some gears and be really nice. Starting at the ground she is built onto a solid foundation. Good footed, soft in her pastern and square hocked. From there up she has genuine rib depth and shape with a great look from the side profile. Lot 8 offers a tremendous amount of genuine quality and future. Her pedigree is pretty outcross for the show ring, take her back to any of the hot bulls right now and you have the makings of a donor. 1BBC

A half sib to lot 8, you will find this heifer to be more of a brood cow prospect. She possesses that good, cowy rib shape and depth while offering a touch more performance and frame than some. With plenty of muscle shape and genuine width, we feel this one will make a good show project and an even better cow. Only a May born heifer calf, but with room to grow and tons of potential. Sired by Chivas and out of the 6756D cow who produced a heifer calf that sold to Jim Johnson in the 2021 Fall Colors sale. The sire of 6756D is AHL Flashback 446B, who needs no introduction to the breed and has made his mark in many circles. Lot 10 is sleek in her design, smooth jointed, possess the frame and structure to respond well to feed, and grow into a good show heifer.

AI’D ON APRIL 4TH TO TR CAG CARBINE’S VISION 9700 ET. Lot 12 has been one of the most intriguing females to me ever since she was selected as a sale heifer. I love her overall mass, stout hip and powerful hindleg and yet she is still neat in her chest and through her neck. In my mind, some Charolais cattle need a little more power and this one can add it. Her pedigree allows you to breed her anyway you want to, and those calves should be the right combination of power and style.

She simply puts everything we are looking for in a uniform, no hole’s package. You will love her structural integrity, body depth, rib shape, and feminine appeal. Then you dig further into her pedigree and find that there is a reason she rises to the top. AI’D ON MAY 10TH TO TR CAG CARBINE’S VISION 9700 ET. I think very highly of this bred heifer. Her design and presence indicate that she should be able to produce high quality show cattle. You will appreciate her elegant front end and from there back she is straight lined, well balanced, and square at the ground. Another female that gives you the breeding flexibility to mate her to some of the hottest bulls out there.

A son of LT Patriot, Jack has sired heifers that have went to the Mower Family in Utah, Welcome Grove in Tennessee, Jimmi Smith, Oklahoma, and Levi Mitchell in Missouri.
AI’D ON APRIL 4TH TO TR CAG CARBINE’S VISION 9700 ET.
I read this bred as being able to add top shape and dimension to her offspring. I like the way she comes out of the top of her skeleton with good turn, works that into a big, square hip and carries it down low. She works off a wide base and plenty of width to her lower rib cage. HF Tyler 1808, her sire, goes back to a DCR Mr. Solution bred cow. In all my time with AICA, Solution daughters were some of the best in the breed. Furthermore, Jason has made the comment many times about how much he likes his WCR Polar Vortex daughters, Polar Vortex is the sire of the dam of lot 16.
Lot 17 brings a little different pedigree to you. GHC Reagan 9012 sold for $40,000 in a past Grand Hills Bull Sale. He is a LT Blue Value out of LT Brenda 6120, the dam of LT Ledger 0332 P. He is known for his calving ease, adding a soft rib cage, and his added EPD’s. Lot 17 is no different. Here is a moderate, smooth built female, who has a bright future as a cow. Her maternal granddam, RLL Ms. 2024 4039 PLD, was the high selling lot in the historic M&M dispersal, selling for $20,500 to Thomas Ranch. AI’D ON MAY 10TH TO TR CAG CARBINE’S VISION 9700 ET. Lot 21 is an outcross to many of the cattle we have shown you in this year’s sale. Sired by M6 Comfort Zone and out of an EC Dealers Choice x Brenda female, she represents genetics that have been extremely popular and consistent in the Wright herd. This heifer just checks all the boxes for me. Plenty of maternal strength, being good ribbed, and sound footed. While still having a good look from the side and plenty of muscle. As the high EPD cattle get more popular we need to keep phenotype in mind. This female can do that by ranking in the 10% CE, 15% BW, 10% MILK and 10% MARB.
AI’D ON MAY 10TH TO TR CAG CARBINE’S VISION 9700 ET. Lot 23 offers a lot of positive attributes. She is balanced in her lines, smooth shouldered and feminine featured. I like her pedigree as well, having Resource, Firewater, and Smokester.

AI’D ON MAY 25TH TO ERKS MULBERRY 9918. We chose to make 169 the lead off bred heifer in the catalog due to her dual-threat capabilities. Not only does this heifer offer tremendous phenotypic advantages being massive ribbed, stout constructed, and well balanced from the side. But she offers some elite figures on paper as well as being in the top 9% GM, 9%WW, 6% YW, 32% MARB, 8% CW & 9% REA. As many breeds trend more towards breeding cattle that offer both phenotype and genotype, we feel that lot 25 can give you both. Take her back to show lines or production lines and you can get the best of both worlds. She is backed by some of the most influential Red Angus sires in Brown JYJ Redemption Y1334 and Bieber Hard Drive Y120.
AI’D ON MAY 25TH TO ERKS MULBERRY 9918. I really like lot 28, I think she offers as much good as anything in the sale. She is moderate framed with a good look being attractive in her design, bold in her rib shape and square in her build. I think when it is all said and done, we might look back on this heifer as the one of the best ones offered at this sale. I do not want to go down the EPD rabbit hole too much, but I want you to make note of her top 1% Marbling figure.

We like the way her neck comes out of the top of her shoulder, is clean fronted, and keen headed. All the while, being deep through the center part of her rib, cool hipped, and good legged. One look, and you will think show heifer producer deluxe, but you study a little further and you will find her EPD tabulation is something to tie to. She is in the top 8% ProS, 3% GM, 19% WW, 28%YW, 31% MILK, 16% HPG, 14% CEM, 26% CW and she is in the top 1% for the all-important Marbling. Cattle can have look and good numbers.

If you are looking to make performance bulls, we think she would fit your needs. Bruce went to Thomas’s a couple years ago and bought what he thought was the best son of TWG Tango that year, that bull is the sire of this heifer. AI’D ON MAY 25TH TO ERKS MULBERRY 9918. A direct daughter of TWG Tango 156D, lot 33 is a quality individual. We feel that her moderation of frame, coupled with her smooth build, has maternal written all over it. She is soft and smooth made and has the look of a brood matron. When mating cattle, Bruce needs them to make females and bulls alike, in my mind this heifer can do both. There is enough power in the blood to make high caliber bulls, yet she is maternal enough to carry on her legacy with daughters.

We felt that last year’s group of fall calving pairs were well received. We wanted to add to this this year but still maintain quality. We feel that we have achieved that goal. Leading off this group is an owned daughter of RBM TR Rhinestone Z38. We really like this female; she is an all-around type of cow. She excels in her look from the side, body dimension, and early indications are that she will have a great udder. These are the type a females we strive to bring to you every year.

Another Resource daughter out of those good OBG bloodlines, this time a Firewater x Assertion bred cow from the Nancy cow family. 011 is just as good as her sister, and Bruce and I debate on if she is better. However, that debate ends, we both believe that this one is just flat good. Her maternal sister sold in the 2021 sale to Steve Henson in Ohio. LOT 23, 2021 FALL Maternal sister of Lot 44, purchased by Steve Henson, Gerorgetown, OH
To me, this could be the most solid one on the group. I like the way she carries herself and the balanced look she always gives. Not to overshadow the fact that she is an elite phenotype female, but when you look at her on paper her value should increase. She ranks in the top 25% WW, 25% YW, 20% MILK, 15% REA, 35% MARB & 30% TSI. Again, in my opinion the industry is trending towards cattle that can add EPD’s while keeping a good look. This one does that in spades.

Another one that offers a different pedigree option. Her sire LHD Choteau B1669 P was selected by Brent Thiel from the DeBruycker herd. He went on to sire many good cattle, including LT Authority 7229 PLD, who is the sire of LT Badge 9184. This female is complete, moderate framed, and big bodied. Everything you need in a good brood cow.
If you did your homework and flipped through the catalog until the end of the Charolais, you might have found yourself a diamond in the rough. Lot 50’s dam is a daughter of one of the most prolific donors in the Charolais breed, HF Mustang Sally 904. Quality is in the blood with this one. Don’t leave on sale day without looking at her.

The second in the trio of fall pairs that we think offers a lot of value. Study her for her production characteristics and we think you will be impressed. Good on her feet and legs, deep ribbed, and soft made.

This Detour bred female gives you a good look from the side, being clean necked, and tidy at the base of her chest. Mated correctly, we think she would be very apt to produce a show heifer.

A smaller offering of fall pairs in the Red Angus division, but not any less quality. We like this Trump daughter out of a Flashback cow, simply because of her basic build and quality phenotype. Tons of dimension and depth, while being built on a sound foundation. We think at calving time you will like her udder and the condition she stays in.
