Ag 2 students had the privilege to share their knowledge of pork with Mid-Buchanan's 4th grade students. This Ag on the Move lesson focused on swine: birth to market production, by products/meat cuts, and rations. It even included a little pigskin toss.
Ag on the Move-Preschool & Kindergarten
The Fish and Wildlife class shared their recent studies of birds with the Mid Buchanan preschool classes. Students completed matching activities and made pinecone bird feeders to hang around the preschool playground.
State Convention
We had 3 teams make it : Sales, Horse Judging, & LIvestock Judging. Madison, Cali, & Emma received their state degree pins. Madison & Cali were recognized for their proficiency awards. We also went to workshops & the career fair.

Ag 2 students had the privilege to share their knowledge of poultry with Mid-Buchanan's 4th grade students. This Ag on the Move lesson focused on broilers, layers, rations, and poultry products. It even included egg candling and part identification.

How long does it take to make a pizza?
Ag 2 students shared their last Ag on the Move lesson with Mid-Buchanan's 4th grade students. This agriculture lesson focused on a well balanced diet using MyPlate, food groups, and categorizing ingredients. They finished up with a pizza party and calculated how long it takes to produce the ingredients in their favorite pizza.

Elementary Literacy Day
FFA members brought in their SAE projects for the Elementary Literacy Day Petting Zoo.
LEAD Conference
Mid Buchanan FFA members attended the statewide LEAD Conference at NCMC for chapter officer leadership development. Students had the opportunity to dive deep into our chapter mission, program of activities, event planning, recruitment, retention, officer roles and being a good role model.
Summer School Garden
Over Summer School we made a garden with the 5th & 6th graders. FFA members helped the Fifth and Sixth grade classes fertilize their summer school garden following a mini lesson on the importance of nutrients. They also began their weekly observations for growth, leaves, blooms, fruit, color, damage, insects, etc. FFA members led the students through a garden bug scavenger hunt after a mini lesson on the importance of insect id. FFA members helped the Fifth and Sixth grade classes prepare pumpkin pancakes for their last summer school gardening activity today.
SAE Visits
Agency Picnic
Mid-Buchanan FFA Members set up at the Old Fashion Agency Picnic with SAE projects available for purchase and order. Also Cornhole Boards for raffle and candy for the kids.
Canning Day
Canning the fruits of our labor throughout July: pickles, salsa, strawberry jam and pepper jam.
MSF Food Insecurity Day
Mid-Buchanan FFA officers had the opportunity to join approximately 850 FFA members from across the state to pack meals for the annual Food Insecurity Day at the Missouri State Fair. This morning, they helped pack 71,000 meals. FFA Food Insecurity Day is part of a larger event with MO Farmers Care and the Missouri State Fair called Drive to Feed Kids and MO Farmers Care Food Drive Day at the MSF.

Mid-Buchanan FFA members had the opportunity to share their knowledge of corn with Mid-Buchanan's 4th grade students. Students learned about parts of the corn plant, the life cycle of a corn plant, various types of corn, and products made from corn. They finished up the unit with a lab making corn plastic.

FFA members had the opportunity to share their knowledge of Missouri agriculture with our fourth grade students. Students discussed corn, soybeans, hay, wheat, cotton, and rice production in different regions of Missouri.
State Officer Visit
Welding Lab
Our Ag Structures class welcomed John Robertson. He was kind enough to come in and share the skills of his trade with our class as we begin a welding unit. Each student had the opportunity to work individually with him and receive timely feedback to hone their technique.
Ag on the Move
FFA members had the opportunity to share their knowledge of beef cattle with Mid Buchanan's fourth grade students. Students discussed beef cattle breeds, rations, health, cuts of meat, and by-products.
Chapter Meeting and Christmas Party
FFA members celebrated the holidays with good food, cookie/gingerbread decorating and an ornery gift exchange. Congratulations to the decorating contest Champion Caroline Brumm and Reserve Champions Dalton Payne and Hollie Harmon.
Ag on the Move
FFA members had the opportunity to share their knowledge of dairy cattle with MidBuchanan's fourth grade students. Participants discussed dairy cattle characteristics, breeds, milking, processing, products, and made butter.
Greenhand Motivational Conference
Ag 1 FFA members attended the Greenhand Motivational Conference at MWSU. State officers facilitated workshops to promote the opportunities for FFA members to enhance their journey down their yellow brick road.
Ag on the Move
We had the cutest guests in the Ag Department. It was a perfect time to talk about zoonotic diseases, biosecurity, lamb care and, of course, snuggle goat kids. FFA members were able to share this experience with the elementary students as well.
FFA Week
FFA Week Update- In honor of dress like a cowboy day, we had a little ropin in the shop. FFA members achieved "cowboy" status today by successfully roping and catching both horns of the steer head. Members enjoyed donuts, chocolate milk, and kicked off their food drive today. Ag students received information about NWMSU and the opportunities they have available for post secondary education.
