Veganuary: Events, Potlucks By: Elsa- Maret / mtltimes.ca
Veganuary – If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to start eating more veggie/vegan meals or you want to make a difference and change your habits to help the environment, taking part in Veganuary is a great way to start. Veganuary consists of eating veggie/vegan meals every day during the entire month on January. Usually, it takes about 30 days to break a habit or start a new one, so what better way to quick off 2018 with a new resolution which will not only make a difference to the environment but also to your well-being. Here are some events going on in Montreal to help you with Veganuary this year. Projection of the film “Empathy” MVPE and Regard Animal is organising a completely FREE projection of the Spanish documentary “Empathy” (subtitled in English). The film has already won an award from the Greeenpeace film festival last Summer. The documentary poses questions on our relationship with animals while never showing shocking images. It

will shine light on the abuse and misinformation we have on how animals are raised for meat and their byproducts. The projection will be held at YUL Vegan Co-Op on January 18th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Click below to RSVP to the Facebook event. Vegan Potluck The Herbivore Society is organising a vegan potluck open to anyone who wishes to attend. The potluck will take place on January 30th to mark an end to Veganuary. Of course, you don’t have to be vegan or even vegetarian to attend this potluck, however, your food contribution should be. If you wish to attend, make sure to bring your own plate and cutlery and RSVP to their Facebook event by posting what food you’ll be bringing to this vegan party. The exact location for this potluck is on their Facebook event. http://mtltimes.ca/Montreal/montreal/veganuaryevents-potlucks/

In most cases, you can make a reasonable pre- inspection yourself if you know what you're looking for, and knowing what you're looking for can help you prevent little problems from growing into costly and unmanageable ones. To help home sellers deal with this issue before their homes are listed, a free report entitled "11 Things You Need to Know to Pass Your Home Inspection" has been compiled which explains the issues involved. MONTREAL - According to industry experts, there are over 33 physical problems that will come under scrutiny during a home inspection when your home is for sale. A new report has been prepared which identifies the eleven most common of these problems, and what you should know about them before you list your home for sale. Whether you own an old home or a brand new one, there are a number of things that can fall short of requirements during a home inspection. If not identified and dealt with, any of these 11 items could cost you dearly in terms of repair. That's why it's critical that you read this report before you list your home. If you wait until the building inspector flags these issues for you, you will almost certainly experience costly delays in the

Have you Heard? Montreal installing heated sidewalks By: Elsa- Maret / mtltimes.ca
Montreal installing heated sidewalks – One of the most difficult aspects about living in such cold temperatures is all the ice that forms onto the sidewalks, which means a lot of slipping and falling on our way out. However, Montreal is taking the initiative to start installing heated sidewalks on Sainte-Catherine street as of 2018. The City of Montreal announced this project back in 2015 and has been slowly thinking about finally taking action. The sidewalks on Saint-Catherine will be heated at 3 C, just warm enough to prevent snow and ice to ac-
www.mtltimes.ca
cumulate on them. The heating installed on the sidewalks will save costs on clearing snow every day and on salt costs for the city. The work for this huge project should start early in 2018, according to the City of Montreal. This project will also encourage Montrealers and tourists alike to spend more time outside during the Winter and to shop more, bringing more business to the stores on Sainte-Catherine street. Tell us what you think about these future heated sidewalks by using the #MTLtimes on twitter.
