11 Critical home inspection traps to be aware of weeks before listing your home for sale

May 30, 2018

MONTREAL - According to industry experts, there are over 33 physical problems that will come under scrutiny during a home inspection when your home is for sale. A new report has been prepared which identifies the eleven most common of these problems, and what you should know about them before you list your home for sale. Whether you own an old home or a brand new one, there are a number of things that can fall short of requirements during a home inspection. If not identified and dealt with, any of these 11 items could cost you dearly in terms of repair. That's why it's critical that you read this report before you list your home. If you wait until the building inspector flags these issues for you, you will almost certainly experience costly delays in the close of your home sale or, worse, turn prospective buyers away altogether. In most cases, you can make a reasonable pre- inspection yourself if you know what you're looking for, and knowing what you're looking for can help you prevent little problems from growing into costly and unmanageable ones. To help home sellers deal with this issue before their homes are listed, a free report entitled "11 Things You Need to Know to Pass Your Home Inspection" has been compiled which explains the issues involved. To order a FREE Special Report, visit: www.montrealinspectionpitfalls.com Get your free special report NOW to learn how to ensure a home inspection doesn't cost you the sale of your home.

Past Montreal Mayor Coderre Bypassed Laws with Formula E MONTREAL - According to a report released by Montreal’s Inspector General Denis Gallant, past Mayor Denis Coderre bypassed the law in the way he awarded contracts for the city's Formula E Race in 2017. Coderre first wanted Evenko, the top independent promoter and producer in Canada, to handle the main event, but the company came to the conclusion that the race and events would lose millions of dollars a year for the first three years. That's when Coderre created the non-profit company 'Montreal It's Electric' with the mandate to secure government subsidies. Evenko then became the main subcontractor. The inspector general concluded that 'Montreal It's Electric' was used to bypass the rules on the awarding of contracts and that 'Coderre and his office were warned several times by their legal representatives the

www.mtltimes.ca

non-profit should not be used as a go-between for the city and a private company' and that 'the mayor's office kept control over the decisions made by Montreal It's Electric'. Mayor Valerie Plante, who made the decision to cancel the race last December, mainly due to cost overruns and the discovery that only 25,000 tickets were sold for the event, was visibly upset when she said in a CTV report, "We're elected officials, we are accountable to citizens and what they did was wrong." Many Montrealers reactions so far are saying they are not surprised at the Inspector General's report and citing it as one of the many reasons Coderre lost the last election.

FESTIVAL

Imagine Monkland 2018 unveil program FESTIVAL - After 16 months of receiving the reigns of Arts Week from Paul Cargnello and following in his footsteps, three entrepreneurs - Luca Palladino, Adrienn Lukacs and René Bernal - have transformed the organization into an arts and culture dynamo for NDG in which artists and local merchants team up to provide residents with unique experiences. Their latest creation is Imagine Monkland, a 3day festive pomegranate that explodes onto the avenue June 22nd-23rd-24th. Featuring circus acts LaboKracBoom, the African-Colombian percussive blast of Montreal’s GKO (Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra) and the extra-terrestrial creatures of Melanie Stuy and Mathieu

René, Imagine Monkland is a family-friendly re-imagining of what the main artery of a neighbourhood can look like. And already four weeks before the event, Imagine Monkland has already sold out its kiosque spaces boding well for the near future. “We create events to recreate the spaces around us and allow residents to express themselves through art”, says Luca Palladino, “We want everyone coming to Imagine to be moving, grooving or making art. That’s what summer is all about, shaking off those winter blues, taking to the streets and mixing it up with the masses.”

Musical highlights

Two stages will offer musical programming during the three days of the festival.

Saturday, June 23rd

• Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra’s (GKO) original flavour invites audiences to experience movement and freedom. Influenced by dance and music from Colombia and Eastern Europe, this eclectic band has been taking over dance floors across Canada, Europe and South America on its numerous tours. • Oliver Forest combines multiple genres to create a unique music using ambient sounds and colourful chords, along with rock and alternative vibes. Oliver Forest released their self-titled debut album last fall. Sarahmée, aka owner of the beat, erupted onto Montreal and Paris rap stages in 2015 with her first album, Légitime, with her sick voice and mad talent. Ever since her addictive rhymes and slick production have made Sarahmée the next one to plug in your ears. Sunday, June 24th Although Imagine is not an official St-Jean event, it will highlight the diversity and musical cultural heritage with several original musical acts including: • Las Mechas, a musical collective whose Jarochostyle comes directly from Veracruz. É.T.É., born from the meeting of three atypical musicians, this is the Québécois folk sound at its most original with jazz and progressive rock influences. Welcome the summer solstice by dancing to the sound of jigs, Irish bouzouki, violin and raise your glass to Québec’s b-day.

Sommet Saint-Sauveur longest ski in eastern North America SPORT – Proudly continuing the tradition of having the longest ski season in Quebec, Sommet Saint-Sauveur was able to welcome true ski and snowboard enthusiasts until May 27th. While ski centres in other tourism regions have shut down a few weeks ago, the Laurentians “glacier” has given an extraordinary spring skiing experience and a really unique end of the season yesterday. Boasting an excellent layer of snow and meticulous grooming by operations crews, the ski station rolled its chairlifts every weekend of May – to the great delight of its loyal skiers. And to celebrate the end of the season, Sommet Saint-Sauveur opened its “glacier” one last time on May 27th, before bidding farewell to the 2017-2018 after 180 days of operation. www.mtltimes.ca

Moreover, this was a first for Sommet Saint-Sauveur, by ending its season on May 27th and being the very last ski resort opened in all Eastern North America. For its part, Killington Resort, in Vermont USA, was best second by closing on May 26th. Yet again, Sommet Saint-Sauveur demonstrates its status as a ski industry leader by delivering the longest ski season of all. After opening last November 11, the Laurentian-region “glacier” will now give way to the warm-weather fun at Parc aquatique du Sommet Saint-Sauveur, which greets its first visitors this coming June 9. Until then, everyone is welcome to enjoy the whirlwind of rides at Parc F.U.N. on weekends. 19
