for crowded rooms of Anglophones is an accomplishment enough. But Bourgault hopes to go farther. “I want to go to Los Angeles,” BourBy Jillian Clark gault says. “This is my biggest dream.” By breaking down his larger goal into small, atmtltimes.ca tainable steps, Bourgault moves closer to his goal each day. He recently moved to Toronto eing a comedian isn’t always easy, where he lives near the entertainment district especially when you’re cracking and performs at comedy clubs across the city, jokes in a new language. “I had a great career in French, but I always wanted to do comedy in English,” Bourgault explains. The hard fact of comedy is that, in North America, your jokes have to be in English in order to reach the broadest possible audience—especially if your real target is an audience in Hollywood. Our favourite side-splitting star comedian from Quebec is more than just a fun time. His daily conduct is driven by deeply rooted inspirations to strive for his life-long dreams. “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything,” he says. “Everything is possible. If you don’t give up and you focus on your goal, it’s possible. I’m the proof.” Learning a new language is a challenge in itself, but finding a funny groove in a language new to you is even more difficult. “I had to bomb a lot of shows,” Bourgault shares. “I had to find a rhythm. People respond differently in Ontario and Quebec.” His positive, go-getter attitude pushes Sebastien one step closer to

his goal each day. Now, his schedule is packed with shows across both provinces, and he often visits Los Angeles for a couple weeks at a time to perform at Improve Hollywood and Comedy Store LA—well-known comedy clubs in the city. These are the same clubs that started Jim Carrey’s career—one of his biggest inspirations in the world of funny-business. There’s no slowing down when you’re chasing a dream, especially one in the arts scene. Sebastien Bourgault hopes to be settled in Las Angeles within the next 10 years: “No matter what, I am going to be in LA someday.” Despite his dreams to leave Canada, and current Toronto residency, it’s not too late for Montreal to laugh with him! Sebastien returns to Montreal to perform every few weeks. Follow his Facebook page Sebastien Bourgault to catch him in action. Contact to hire: sebastienbourgault1@gmail.com

2:30 p.m., the crowd stood still. With one fist up, a moment of silence was observed for the victims of the shooting in Orlando, Florida in June. After the respectful mood, the parade continued on in great vibrance and happiness. This year's pride parade (Fierté Montréal) featured floats from major corporations, local communities and activists with a clear message to deliver. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau walked proudly along Réné Levesque sporting a green shirt to match this year's theme "Our Flag, Our Nature: GREEN."

race yourselves…there is a new villain in town, and he goes by the name of Alain Chanoine. Sharing the screen with Cara Delevingne, Will Smith and Margot Robbie, our very own Montreal-born actor plays the demon “Incubus”, in this summer’s most anticipated movie, Suicide

Squad. Suicide Squad is about a U.S. intelligence officer who decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated antiheroes to fight a demon who is trying to take over the world, which inevitably ends in chaos. The Demon, Incubus, is the brother of Enchantress, a witch who inhabits June Moon (Cara Delevingne). The siblings had once ruled the world before their spirits got imprisoned for thousands of years. In this story line that was, in my opinion, a bit ill-defined, the Enchantress has freed her brother from his curse and together they are determined to take over the world, which they claim is theirs. WEDNESDAY MOVIES

August 17, 2016

To embody such a mysterious and powerful character, especially one that involves lots of CGI effects, takes a lot of talent and imagination from the actor. Fortunately, Alain has no shortage of that. “I used to Love the DC Universe. Cyborg and Joker were my favourite comics. Working on this film was like going back to my childhood when I use to read comic books in the dark with a flashlight so that my Mom wouldn’t know I was still awake. This is why I love this job, because a part of me doesn’t want to grow up.” I first met Alain back at Collège Durocher in High School, my alma-mater. Alain was known as the class clown, but I remember seeing him in a school play; one that was so dramatic that it didn’t leave a single dry eye in the room. I’ve been following his career as a friend, and occasional collaborator since then. It was honestly no surprise to see him end up in star-studded movie. “Working with them was an amazing experience. They were all very welcoming. Will Smith is a blast, Margot Robbie came and introduced herself to me, I spent most of my time with Cara as most of my scenes were with her, and I already knew Adewale (Killer Croc), as I was his stunt double on the movie Pompeii”, said Alain while describing his experience on set. He also mentioned that Will and Joel had built a “fun tent” on the studio’s lot with a basketball court, a pool table, Ping Pong table, a flat screen TV and a DJ booth. Alain found himself playing basketball with his pregnant fiancé, Audrey Tousignant-Maurice, while Will and Joel where playing chess. Pretty laid-back for a guy who had the chance to meet the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air! Because really, who doesn’t know Will Smith from his TV breakthrough role in a show that stole the heart of America in the late 90’s. “When I was in high school, I had trouble

24

learning English, since French and Creole were my first languages. So my mom sat me down to watch English TV programs every day, and one of them was the Fresh Prince of BellAir. It took me a month to figure out that Carlton and Will were cousins and not brothers on the show. I told this to Will Smith when we were on set, and he said he had never heard this one before”, said Alain, laughing. Since its theatrical release on August 5th, 2016, Suicide Squad has amassed over $304 million in global ticket sales, however, it received overall bad critics due to its under-developed plot, which left some of the DC fans a bit disappointed… myself included. The characters and their back stories are well introduced at the beginning, but their motives and intentions become unclear as the plot moves along. I would have loved to see more of the villains, since they are the only element that brings the squad together on their mission. But it seemed like 70% of the screen time was shared between Will Smith and Margot Robbie, while 30% was given to all of the other characters combined. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the plot was unclear and somewhat confusing. Pretty much the same viewing experience than when I watched Magic Mike XXL: the actors were exceptional, but the story line… what story line? Nevertheless, the movie is worth watching, at least for the performances, and of course, our friend Alain, who will charm you and scare you all at once. Alain also stars in Vin Diesel’s XXX: Return of Xander Cage, which will come out in January 2017, and a lineup of big productions that he isn’t aloud to disclose at the present time. Keep your eyes open! Montreal Times will definitely be keeping up with his exploding acting career!
