Dear Readers First and most importantly : thank you very very much for your support of MOODGAZINE Vol.1. We are very grateful to everyone who viewed our first publication on facebook and on issuu. On the day we are about to publish this second issue of MOODGAZINE, we gained 11,824 unique page views on our first issue which we hope will continue to rise. We are very grateful and honored, though it’s putting us under pressure of expectation. However, our promising mission - showcasing the work of local models, creative artists, and designers is still our faith. As a new creative director of MOODGAZINE, I promise to continue what we are doing until they stop us from publishing online. This issue features tons of cool stuff. Our hilight is on our first submission from a local talented artist, Ladda Phoanyapho. She a painter, illustrator and art teacher who owns a very beautiful heart. We were very impressed with her work and her thoughts. Our boss is now trying to persuade her to join our team. If she says yes, we will have her beautiful cartoons on every issue of our MOODGAZINE. We hope you enjoy this second issue of MOODGAZINE and please ‘Like’ it either on our facebook page or issuu page. Thank you very very much.
Love Nichapat Mungkan (new)Creative Director

IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE PAINTER/ILLUSTRATOR : LADDA PHANYAPHO
Who are you and what do you do?
Ladda : My name is Ladda. I’m now having my professional training for art teaching at Chumphon Phonpisai District School where I am an alumni of. I am very pleased and proud to be returning to teach at my home school. It would be a great start to work with pleasure.
How have you become an art teacher?
Ladda : Well, I’m studying a 5-year course in Education(Visual Arts) and this is my senior year so we get to have our professional training. When I first came to take this course, I really hoped to return to this school to contribute something and when the time came it was like a dream come true. I’m so proud to be back here.
What makes you wanna study art at the first place? Ladda : It all started when I was a child. I drew very first first portrait and landscape painting when I was nine. All the credits to my mom. I’m always so thankful. She’s the first person to teach me art and the first person to show me how to draw. These things kinda added up into my passion in art.
Any other contributions than teaching art to little kids?
Ladda : Yeah, I usually contribute my artwork to religious and traditional ceremonies in my home community. Something like portraits, paintings and carvings. Sometimes when I work for the community I earn a lot more than just a work of art. I always get love, friendship, and patriotism for my hometown. I’m so happy to be able to make such contributions.
Have you won any awards?
Ladda : Well, I’ve always been fortunate to get chances to represent my university, my high school, and my middle school in several drawing contests. I’ve also been fortunate to win gold medals for every contest I’ve participated, even in a provincial level. It’s not because I’m more talented than others though. It might be because I always practice my drawing. So if you wanna be good, you must practice a lot. (smile)
What kind of your artwork wins most often?
Ladda : It was usually Thai drawing and Thai definition back in highschool. In university it’s usually Lai Rod Nam* that wins. (* Lai Rod Nam = Thai Lacquer Work with Gold)
As an art teacher, what is “art” to you?
Ladda : To me, art is not just about beauty. It’s more about emotion from the viewers. It’s about what goes on within the viewers’ mind after they view the artwork. That’s why I’ve been trying to develop and to put more complex implication into my pieces of work. Earlier I often made ordinary portraits and lanscape paintings. Nowadays my work has become more surrealistic.
Do you think people recognize your work?
Ladda : At university, most people do recognize my work. It’s such a great pride for any artist to have their work recognized, I think. Mostly people would recognize my cartoon drawings. I believe those cartoons have my signature on them without me having to sign them. (smile)
What influences your work?
Ladda : Well, major influences on my work come from my home climate and love, I think. If you look at most of my lanscape paintings, you may notice that I always make rich landscapes. Maybe it’s because I come from Nong Khai province that has really rich climate. The other influence, love, is mostly conveyed from the eyes of my cartoons. Various emotions shown on my cartoons’ eyes usually express cheerful sight, sadness, and depression which are products of love and obsession. (laugh)
Do you listen to music while working? Ladda : Yes
What kind?
Ladda : I love Canon instrumental. I find this piece of music very relaxing on every instrument. I also listen to some foreign music. I don’t really understand the lyrics which is good because I can really feel the music.(Laugh) Sometimes traditional Thai music really calms my mind too.
What artwork that you’ve made that you’re most proud of?
Ladda : Must be Venus sculpture. This is my biggest pride. I made it in my first year of university. It’s the best round-relief I’ve ever made.
Who is your favorite artist? Why?
Ladda : Asst.Prof. Suwat Saenkattiyarat, because he likes to portray the faces of the Budha. And I personally love Lai Thai drawings. (smile)
Any other artists you want us to check out?
Ladda : Prof. Prayad Pongdam and Tawee Nantakwang, actually I kinda like everyone.(Laugh)
What’s your dream job?
Ladda : Well, I wish to be an art teacher that students love and believe in. I’ve been teaching here for two months and my dream is half filled already. I choose to be a teacher that can give intimate care to students. Today I believe that I contribute a lot more than
just drawing lessons to my students. I give them fellowship, trust and faith. Since these little kids are so pure and innocent, I personally believe that there are more important things than what’s-in-the-book for them to learn. I wish to see these kids having great minds and creative imagination.
Future projects?
Ladda : I’ve been invited to lecture at several art camps since I was eighteen. In the future when I’m more experienced, I wish to launch my own art camp for small kids where I can take them out to the countryside. I will love to see them appreciate the beauty of nature in their home country. (Smile)
