a few of us were robbed at gunpoint in august 2013. it was hard. it got us thinking a lot about things like safety and violence, privilege and oppression, trauma and healing. we felt a need for space to explore the many layers of our experience while interrogating the intersections of race, class, & gentrification; gender, sexuality, & bodies. we wanted to heal. but more than that, we wanted to situate our healing within the broader context of structural violence, anti-black/brown racism, and how we walk in the world as both asian, and queer, trans, and / or womyn.
we invited friends who had been robbed to share with us. this is a collection of our stories, experiences, survival strategies, healing practices, and more. we offer our truths as they were when we wrote them- angry, afraid, humorous, vulnerable.
