AWARD-WINNING ECOEDUCATION FOR GREEN PARK DAY NURSERY CHILDREN
Services
Nee Naw Nee Naw! This month Jubilee Gems Nursery welcomed both the Ministry of Defence Police and South Central Ambulance Service to their nursery! The children had a great time learning about all the incredible things they do for their local community. The police introduced their police dogs Kaiser and Joe and put their sense of smell to the test… sniffing out hidden sweets that were left around the nursery by a ‘Sweet Thief’! With the Ambulance Service demonstrating how they use their heart rate monitor and of course testing those sirens and flashing lights. Both visits were a fantastic learning experience, and it was the ultimate role play day for the children! From tending to seasonal vegetables and herbs in their allotment area, to creating habitats for wildlife to encourage garden biodiversity, there are exciting learning opportunities all year round for children at Green Park Day Nursery in Reading who are receiving an award-winning eco-education. As a result of their efforts, which include crafting with natural and recycled materials, learning about the impact of pollution in oceans using special water trays and taking part in litter picking initiatives in their local area, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on South Oak Way are proud holders of the prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award from Eco-Schools, the highest accolade in the international scheme which is awarded for exceptional environmental awareness and conservation practices.
