20 ways to make memories this May half term

The sun’s out and summer is on its way! Primary Times share some fun ideas and activities for families to enjoy during these warmer months

1) READ OUTDOORS

Immerse yourself in story-time and soak up some sunshine, or pick a book to sit and read all together.

2) SPRING BAKING

Have a go at making some tasty liמּle cupcakes or a lemon drizzle cake –whatever you fancy!

3) VISIT THE BEACH

Enjoy the relaxing sound of the waves by the sea and try to find some preמּy shells. Also, sandcastles!

4) MAKE GLITTER BUTTERFLIES

Cut out the buמּerflies from foam shapes or pieces with a cookie cuמּer, cover the foam with glue and then decorate. The more gliמּer, stickers and gemstones the beמּer!

5) PLAY HIDE AND SEEK

Organise a big game with your child’s school friends or with the neighbourhood and get everyone involved!

6) A FAMILY PICNIC

Pack your blanket, sunglasses and some picky food and you’re all set for a great aﬞernoon, and it’s much more fun than eating sat at the dinner table.

7) THROW A FLORAL-THEMED PARTY

Everything floral for the warm weather! Paמּerned floral clothes, floral paper plates or tablecloth, and fresh flowers for decoration. Get creative.

8) VISIT A LOCAL FARM

Take a trip to a peמּing zoo and spend the day with the animals making some furry friends.

9) MAKE A MINI FAIRY GARDEN

Use a small teacup or mini plant pot and add some preמּy bits and pieces. Try some leaves or liמּle flowers, seashells, beads, a liמּle toy house, painted pebbles, and of course, gliמּer!

10) COOK YOUR FAVOURITE DINNER

Soup with some fresh crusty bread or some fun and crunchy tacos are wonderful for this time of year.

11) CONNECT WITH NATURE

Venture outside and explore. See how many different birds, plants and interesting cloud shapes you can find.

12) BUILD A FORT

Make a den and you’ll have a warm, safe place to relax in for a quieter aﬞernoon.

13) ARTS AND CRAFTS

Try some painting, making Play-Doh shapes or scrapbooking to get the creative juices flowing.

14) GO SWIMMING

Enjoy an active aﬞernoon splashing about having fun with all the family.

15) HAVE A DUVET DAY

Get cosy with your duvet or blankets on the sofa and watch your favourite family film together. With snacks, of course!

16) ROAD TRIP

Discover a new place or somewhere outside of your usual area – see if there are any good nature trails or hikes you can aמּempt as a family.

17) VISIT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY

Pick up a new book or see if they have any activities or drop-in sessions on for children and families during the holidays.

18) PLANT SOME FLOWERS

Marigolds, sunflowers or poppies are great for this time of year and look lovely and colourful in the sunshine.

19) STARGAZE

Make the most of the clear spring skies and see how many stars you can count! Who can spot the most?

20) A GAME OF ROUNDERS

Gather some friends together and blow off some steam at the parkbaמּer up!
