Architecture Phenomenology

The research of architectural phenomenology can be divided into two areas from the perspective of ideology. One is Heidegger's existential phenomenology, which focuses on the research field of pure academic theory. Another field adopts Merleau Ponty's phenomenology of perception, focusing on architectural design theory and practice; Its main representative is Steven Holl. I agree with Steven Holl's architectural theory. I also believe that "place" plays a decisive role in architectural design. Architecture is closely related to specific places and cannot be separated from environmentalism architecture. But I also have to admit that architecture is related to the personal experience and aesthetics of architects.

Neo-regionalism

Alvaro Siza, César Pelli and Luis Barragan, as representatives of the contemporary creative school of new regionalism, I agree with their architectural theories. New regionalism is a resistance to the trend of architectural globalization brought about by modernism, and a resistance to the stereotyped international style and the way of environmental shaping without sense of place. However, new regionalism is different from regionalism, which does not mean that local traditional buildings are antique or retro. It is still a part of modern architecture. It follows modern standards and needs in function and structure, and only partially absorbs traditional things in form. In addition, the new regionalism does not rigidly follow the general principles and concepts of modern architecture in its creation, but is based on the local environment, geography, climate characteristics, and the pursuit of architectural style with regional characteristics and local cultural characteristics. It has no fixed model, only requires that the building be placed in a specific regional cultural place, and makes it express the spirit of this specific place, Any design performance is acceptable, so it is flexible and diverse, but it is easy to identify.

Site is located in Haiyan village which is situated in the east of Dian lake of Kunming district in Yunnan province in China, and architecture is located in a place near the new pier in the village. Additionally,I wish that I can take abandoned boats in the beach as my design inspiration because reverse abandoned boats symbolise a significant decline of fishing culture in Haiyan village.Besides,I want to use shells in the architecture to be connected with abandoned boats, and I can tell the stories below "the reverse abandoned boats" to recall local people's memories which are linked with fishing on the boats and warn them to notice the crisis that fishing culture is facing with. Moreover,I am expected to insert modern functions in the architecture to revive the small fishing village. All in all,I wish that I can create a cultural architecture which is also a landmark in the village to revive local economy and rejuvenate local people.

New Pier Before

Haiyan Village has a long history. I listed the house facades of Haiyan Village from the 1950s to the 1990s. It can be seen that in order to adapt to the local climate, the former houses adopted pitched roof tile roofing. With the development of the times, the concrete materials gradually replaced the rammed earth wall and tile roofing.

After seeing the movie Okarinboqi,I am attracted by the pilgrim and their activities, pilgrimage.

Therefore,I am expected to design a building which is provided for pilgrims and inhabitants in Tibet.Further more, pagoda has existed in China for many years which is higher than some of contemporary high-rise buildings in the world.

However, there are many differences between pagodas and modern high-rise buildings.Hence,I want to combine the two factors, pilgrimage and pagodas with contemporary high-rise buildings in order to creat modern Chinese high-rise buildings.

INTRODUCTION

The site is located next to Gongtan Ancient Town, Youyang County, Chongqing Province, China. The residents of Gongtan Ancient Town are mostly Tujia and Miao people. I am very interested in their Diaojiao House and their settlements. However, in recent years, with the development of urbanization and the proposal of rural revitalization, it is still unknown in what form the minority settlements will develop in the future. I hope to try it on a site next to a minority village to build a future residential community for Tujia and Miao people. Besides, in addition to integrating future elements into minority settlements, it is worth paying attention to how to retain some cultural symbols in the future community so as to always evoke the memories of the aborigines.

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS

DIAOJIAO HOUSE

Due to the unique mountainous landforms of Chongqing, the Tujia people adapt to local conditions. The traditional residential form of Diaojiao House solves both the problem of terrain height difference and the problem of humid air.

URBANIZATION

The process of urbanization has widened the scope of cities, and some settlements of the Tujia people have also been affected. Handling the relationship between modernity and tradition is the key to solving the problem.

SETTLEMENTS

Most of the Tujia people live together in the form of traditional houses on stilts on the mountains or by the river, forming settlements.

① ② ③ ④

RURAL REVITALIZATION

For the existing Tujia settlements, rural revitalization is a booster to enhance the economy, improve people's lives and revive traditional culture.

The site is located in a section of river next to Gongtan Town, Youyang County, Chongqing City, China. Youyang County is a Tujia and Miao Autonomous County. Gongtan Town is a famous ancient town in Chongqing City.Gongtan Ancient Town is built along mountains and rivers, adjacent to Wujiang River. The site is a section of the Wujiang River and is located on the west side of Gongtan Town. There are two ways to reach the site from Gongtan Town, but both need to cross the Wujiang River. In addition, the reason why the site is not located on the land on both sides of the river but on the water is because I want to give full play to the hydrophilic characteristics of the Tujia people.

PRESENT SITUATION

The traditional dwellings of the Tujia and Miao people are Diaojiao House, both on the mountain and by the river. Therefore, in the minority areas, you can see both the mountain settlements and the waterside settlements. Most of the settlements on the mountain are Miao people. The settlements by the water are mostly Tujia.

DESIGN STRATEGY FORM GENERATION

Linear City CPD(Central Public District) Multifunction

Step1:The site is located near Gongtan Ancient Town. There are both winding rivers, Wujiang River, and rolling mountains on both sides. What kind of future community can I build for Tujia and Miao people on such a site?

Step2:When designing the future communities of Tujia and Miao, I made some attempts different from the modern community layout - linear community, which aims to reduce the time spent on traveling.

Step3:On the basis of the linear community, its section form is based on the prototype of the stilted building slope roof of the local folk house, which not only adapts to the local climate but also preserves people's memory.

Step4:For the axial trend of the linear community, I refer to the layout of Gongtan Ancient Town, and choose to be parallel to the trend of the river, which can be both integrated into the environment and extended indefinitely.

Step5:At the end of the online community, people are introduced into it by means of water trails, and the building skin is gradually raised from the end to the middle after being divided by modules.

Step6:In order to adapt to the local climate, in addition to using the section of pitched roof to solve the problem of precipitation, the building skin is further designed to achieve adjustable ventilation, lighting, solar energy, etc.

He believes that the city of the future is "only a block 500 meters wide, as long as you want". Such an urban structure allows people in the city to spend less time traveling from one location to any other. The functions of the current community public spaces are often distributed in the form of partitions, but with the increase of functions, the form of partitions has caused a lot of inconvenience, so I hope to solve this problem by compounding public spaces. At the bottom of the community, there are not only the main footpaths entering from both ends, but also the secondary footpaths crossing the river in the middle of the community, which constitute the bottom traffic system of the community. When people enter the community, they can reach the platform connecting the houses on both sides through the elevator, and then enter the house or public space through the air footpath and stairs. The main functions of the public space are sports facilities, parks, cultural facilities, schools, medical facilities and shops. For each function, two to three different modules are designed. These modules are organically combined in the middle of the community to form a colorful block. Every six blocks form a small community. The whole linear community has 11 small communities. The residences on both sides are single corridor type residences, with green platforms attached on the outside of the residences and roof gardens on the top of the community. The supporting structure adopts the structural form of the traditional Tujia and Miao residential stilted buildings and has made some changes. The outer surface of the community is made of solar glass, which can use sunlight to power the community while lighting. In addition, the outer surface can control the ventilation by adjusting the opening degree of the glass.

GENERAL LAYOUT

From the section of the second part of Community 1, it can be seen that the houses on both sides have their own green platforms, and can be used for lighting, ventilation and solar power generation through the adjustable outer skin. In addition, the residences on both sides are connected by the horizontal walkways on each floor. Residents can reach the horizontal walkways through elevators and return to their own residences. The horizontal walkways also connect the public space between the residences on both sides.

The linear community is divided into 11 small communities, which can exist independently in function and also be interconnected in streamline. Each small community is composed of six parts, each of which is composed of living space and organically combined public space. The public space mainly includes park green space, sports facilities, cultural facilities, school classrooms, health stations and shops. The living space and public space, as well as the public space and public space, are connected through footpaths and platforms. In addition, in addition to the entrance at both ends of the linear community, there are also footpaths across the river in the middle of the community to allow people to enter the community.

The building skin uses triangular elements for modular design to form a lifting glass panel to adjust the ventilation volume, and also uses solar glass to achieve lighting and use of solar energy.

The community can be accessed from the riverside along the road. In addition to the main path in the middle, there are side roads to provide pedestrians and residents with different hydrophilic experiences.

Each part of each small community is an organic combination of two crosswalks connecting the houses on both sides and various public functions in the middle of the two crosswalks.

INTRODUCTION

The work is the third course design assignment in my senior yearlarge-span architectural design. The venue is located in Huxi Campus of Chongqing University, and it not only has the function of a theater, but also serves as a venue for student activities. We chose the swan with distinctive features in Huxi Campus as our intention to transform the grand and small theaters into two wings, and use the platform to strengthen the connection. The grand theater is composed of "three feathers". Even if the building is closed, people can use its open-air leisure function, while the small theater is composed of "two feathers". The grand and small theaters reflect their different functions and importance by comparing their sizes. In terms of the design of the site, a lake is arranged to create an artistic conception of swans or feathers floating on the lake, and wing pavilions are designed with the image of "feathers" to echo the architecture.

SITE

The site is located in the northeast of Huxi Campus of Chongqing University in Shapingba District, Chongqing, China. There are public spaces such as the Central Park of college town and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute nearby. Inside the campus, the library and the grand and small theaters in Huxi are far away from it, while the football field is adjacent to it. In addition, because the site is located in the northeast of the campus, both sides face the interior of the school, and both sides face the urban roads. It is particularly important to handle the elevations that can represent the image of the school and the elevations that face people.

Traditional small theater and large theater are lack of connection. In this design, large and small theaters are connected through public space to achieve the purpose of functional interconnection.

The traditional theater has a single function and is dull. In this design, the spaces inside and outside the large and small theaters are infiltrated into each other in order to achieve the goal of space integration.

The traditional theater has a strong positioning and lacks activities. In this design, activities are placed at different elevations of the theater in order to achieve the intersection of different functions.

Seperation

Extention trend Landscape design

Step1: Step2:

The north and east sides of the site face the city, and the south and west sides face the campus. How to solve the source of people and the city elevation is the key to the design.

Grand and small theaters adopt decentralized layout, in which the large theater is formed by three "feathers" and the small theater is formed by two "feathers".

MASTER PLAN

Step3:

The large theater is connected to the small theater on the roof of the first floor through a connecting platform, and the connecting platform adds ecology through the form of tree holes.

The trend of extension and upward is emphasized through horizontal division of the outer skin of the building. And emphasize the entrance and exit of the building by rolling the wall inward.

Step4: Step5: CONCEPT

The site is designed according to the architectural outline, in which the lake and grass add interest and emphasize the axis of the entrance.

College town south road

The people mainly enters from the west and south sides. Therefore, we designed a lake on the south side of the site, so that when people go to the building, they can see the reflection of the building through the lake, and also strengthen the concept of swans, as if swans are playing in the water. The overall layout adopts the decentralized layout of large and small halls, and they are connected by the accessible platform. When the hall is closed, teachers and students can also walk to the roof platform for activities to enhance the publicity of the building. The small theatre is composed of two "feathers", and the grand theatre is composed of three "feathers". Each feather gradually rises, forming a retreat relationship in the arrangement.

The trend of the roof of the Grand Theater from low to high not only conforms to the needs of functions, but also represents the wings of flight. As the stage requires higher height than the auditorium, the corresponding functions to follow the trend of roof height are lobby, auditorium, stage, logistics room and student activity room. As the roof is not accessible to people, the space grid supporting structure is adopted, while the space truss supporting structure is adopted for the upper stage due to the requirement of hanging equipment.

SOUND LINE ANALYSIS (SECTION)

The roof of the auditorium and the roof of the stage adopt large-span non accessible light floor slab, which is composed of multiple square floor slabs into a whole floor system. The load-bearing structure of the auditorium roof is a steel grid structure composed of pipe steel, and the loadbearing structure of the stage roof is a steel truss. The roof of the auditorium and the roof of the stage are supported by a reinforced frame structure, and concrete columns with a section of 800 * 600,1200 * 800,600 * 600 are used.
