The Metropolis of Tomorrow
The project started with the study of Hugh Ferriss’s drawings from his book ‘The Metropolis of Tomorrow’. Sketches from his book focus on his imagination of an ideal city of the future with skyscrapers placed well apart from each other, broad avenues, and a coherent organization of building typologies. The project aims to look at the interiors more than the exteriors. The interiors of the Mega Building are designed as a city within a city. The existing buildings in NYC are scaled up 5 times larger and capsuled with Hugh Ferris tower which creates a weird juxtaposition between two and also the interior and exterior. This proposal seeks to imagine this city of mega buildings as a toy where the building parts click and lock to assemble or disassemble.
