Letter from the Chairs

March 16, 2013

March 16, 2013

Dear Friends,

“And the winner is”...

Thank you for attending this year’s auction, presented by Parent Council. The auction was organized by a talented group of volunteers, led by co-chairs Celestine Berg and Sangeeta Doshi. I always enjoy this event because it not only suppor ts Moorestown Friends School, but it’s an oppor tunity for members of our community to spend an enjoyable evening together.

Welcome to “Lights, Camera, Auction”, Moorestown Friends School’s largest parent-driven fundraiser for 2013! We are thrilled that you are here to join us for what is going to be an incredibly rewarding and amazing evening!

Hollywood recently hosted the Oscars, celebrating its biggest, brightest stars. Lights, Camera, Auction is a fitting theme for tonight’s event as we highlight the talents and creativity of our students, faculty, staff and parents. How appropriate that the Auction Committee created a “walk of fame” – a great reminder of some of the everyday stars here at school. I would like to recognize the parents, alumni, faculty, staff, students, friends and businesses that have suppor ted the Auction by providing wonderful items to bid on, sponsoring the event, working with students on Class Gifts and volunteering their time to prepare for this evening. Planning an event of this size takes dozens of volunteers and countless hours of work. I am grateful for all of those who helped realize the co-chairs’ vision for the evening, and also for your commitment to MFS. Finally, I would like to applaud Celestine and Sangeeta (as well as their families) for leading this year’s Auction. We are for tunate to have such dedicated parents at our school; they are a treasure of the MFS community. Enjoy tonight’s event – Happy Bidding!

Our journey began last summer when Matt Nierenberg, from the Development Office, asked us to co-chair the auction. We gladly accepted and welcomed the challenge, and along the way, realized that Matt’s initial request to serve as co-chairs was nothing more than, “oppor tunity knocking at our door”. As co-chairs, we witnessed, first hand, just how remarkable our MFS community really is. We are thrilled to tell you that every door that we “knocked” on, and every call for help that we made, was answered by someone who was willing to very generously contribute time, energy, ideas, goods, services, finances, and most impor tantly, encouraging words of suppor t to ensure the success of the auction! Give yourselves a round of applause, because tonight, you are all stars whose generous spirit has enabled MFS to shine even more brilliantly! Thank you to for making a difference because in the end… the winners are our children. With hear tfelt thanks,

Sincerely, Celestine Berg

Larry Van Meter P.S. – Please be sure to patronize the businesses that have underwritten the auction and thank them for their suppor t!

Recognition of Former Auction Chairs From the first MFS auction to tonight’s event, the Parent Council Auction has had a positive effect on just about every area of Moorestown Friends School. Whether the auction raised funds to purchase a school bus, renovate the library or add technology in the classrooms, each event has supported the school, and they have all been volunteer driven. The Auction has grown from a small gathering of friends to the largest parent-driven fundraiser at MFS. We would like to acknowledge the previous auction chairs. It was their success that this event was built upon.
