TECH HELP

A big hello to Tavistock! We are excited to be able to provide Links readers with bimonthly articles which will include general advice, issues we have seen arise over the last few months, tips, tricks and more. Alongside this our office mascot, Archie the Husky, will also have a little something to say too - he is vocal at times! For this issue we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ABC Service - we have been trading since 2009 with a dynamic young team. The first and main part of our business is computer support which includes desktops, laptops, iPhones and selected iPads. Covering Tavistock, Devon we support a wide number of home and business clients predominantly from our workshop here in Tavistock but also on-site and, if further afield, we provide remote support too. We cover everything from new computer install and setup, printer support and network installations (whether wired or wireless), Microsoft Office 365 licensing and Exchange Online for business too. Working with a wide range of branded computers and laptops we have carried out thousands of repairs over the years from overheating issues, screen damage, keyboard replacement, hinge repairs, Windows corruptions, virus removal, upgrades, custom builds and much more.

Alongside our IT services we provide: Graphic design, branding and web design solutions for a number of local clients

Archie’s Corner * As the office woofer I am likely to meet and greet you – but only if you want me too. I like to sometimes inspect things as they come in to make sure they’re safe for my ‘hoomans’. Feel free to pet me, I am soft and floofy. For my fan club, don’t forget I do loooove carrots as a healthy snack. *Disclaimer: if you are at all nervous of dogs, do not worry, Archie is safely behind our reception counter and will only meet and greet you if encouraged.

Tech tip Windows 11 has a release date of 5 October and is going to be available as a free download for existing Windows users starting on that date. Note that the rollout won’t happen for everyone at once, it will be staggered over the rest of this year and into next year. Please also be aware that to upgrade to Windows 11 you will need to be running Windows 10 first. Gamers should be excited about this release of Windows - we know we are. It has a big focus on game performance!
