LETTER FROM THE EDITOR: Hello, and welcome to MORE GORE Magazine, this is the first issue of hopefully many. I hope you enjoy and if you have any feedback please send us an email.

When TWISTED PICTURES released ‘SAW THE FINAL CHAPTER’ they revealed it would be the last instalment of the controversial gore soaked franchise. When ‘saw’ first hit the screens in 2004 it Wowed critics and shocked audiences. It has become a Halloween tradition packing more shocking traps and gore with each new instalment. Each year the budget got bigger, the traps More horrific and things got a LOT bloodier. The Critics were pleased, the viewer shocked. But according to ‘TWISTED PICTURES’ ‚there are only so many ways of killing People‛ witch if you write for ‘SAW’ is Probably a valid point.

Ask anyone to name a well known horror film, and most will say ‘SAW’ the level of notoriety it has generated is legendary, due to the perverse way it almost makes ‘Jigsaw’ seem the ‘good guy’ and the shocking levels of violence and gore.

The concept of saw is very clever, a man with a incurable frontal lobe brain tumour is told that he is soon going to die, confronted with the knowledge that he is basically a dead man walking John Kramer becomes who the police and press have named ‘JIGSAW’

what REALLY made saw clever is the fact that ‘JIGSAW’ was not a killer, his ‘subjects’ make their own choices, if they win his game they appreciate the life they have, and if they fail or break the rules then the price is death. As the budget got bigger the traps got more and more elaborate. In ‘saw 1 and 2’ the traps covered only one part of the ‘subjects’ body like the ‘reverse bear trap’ above. But from ‘SAW 3’ the traps are covering the entire body and are more emotionally involved.

So are the games over

In a interview with ‘the times’ Betsy Russell(AKA Jill Tuck) Stated the following "Before we thought it was ending [with 'Saw VII'], the writers came up with an unbelievable idea [for 'Saw 8']”,Russell, who has joined the cast of the franchise since "Saw III", further gushes, "It's an amazing story that I would love to see."

The depicter of Jill Tuck has her lips sealed when asked for details about the eighth film. However, Russell wants to tease fans by saying, "We want to end near the top, with our integrity in tact and not letting the characters die a slow death, so to speak. But I believe in my heart that someday, somehow, ['Saw 8'] will happen." ‘SAWS’ creator James Wan (right) revealed in a interview the following “a film franchise never truly dies, and with the following these films have I doubt we have seen the end of ‘SAW’ Good news it seems for all ‘SAW’ fans as it looks like the gore soaked franchise may one day return. Check out ‘TWISTED PICTURES’ latest release ‘INCIDIOUS.’ it is well worth watching.

Their biggest year yet Founded in 2005 by COURTNEY SOLOMON , their first film ‘an American haunting’ received good reviews from the critics. Six months later they made the ‘HORRORFEST 8 FILMS TO DIE FOR’ banner. In 2011 ‘AFTER DARK’ brought the HORRORFEST banner to the UK with the ‘AFTER DARK ORIGINALS’ eight new, cutting edge horror films. Each of the eight films focuses on a different Horror subgenera, scarecrows, aliens, Vampires, monsters, twins, zombies, TV and ghosts. The reviews. Prowl is a lot like a ‘30 days Of night’ throw back, it is The ONE originals film Lacking in original plot details . It is a LOT like 30 days of night in a warehouse , the acting is average and there are some special effects glitches, however this film does deliver in scares, it is fast paced if a little slow to start, gory, and is a sure to make you jump. 4/5

Husk’ gets straight into the action, it is scares from the first frame. It is quick, gory and has a clever plot. By far one of the best ‘ORIGINALS’ the acting is good, the characters solid and while it has a low budget feel, you won’t be complaining after this one. 5/5

‘51’ is the film with the lowest budget feel, but it is Not at all a poor movie, the fact that it is not a multi Million Dollar budget adds a certain charm. It is not unoriginal , the acting is good, and the effects are not poor. It could be better but it is original and it has a good plot. 4/5

‘scream of the banshee’ is a film that divides opinions, to some it is a cheep film with inexpensive creature effects, but if you look past the monster that looks like an extra for the ‘THRILLER’ music video, it is a clever, fast paced horror, that is not gory just for the sake of it. So maybe there are some scenes that you feel were added just for visual value, but isn’t that what a film is about? A film is art , so artistic license should be allowed. Despite the mixed reviews this film is different, exciting and better than quite a few big studio releases 3/5

‘the task’ is very much a chillier film, it’s purpose is not to make you jump but to make you sit in your seat and shiver. And in fairness to ‘AFTER DARK FILMS’ it does it well. The characters are a bit clichéd but most horror fans are used to seeing the nerdish girl and outrageous, camp gay man in so many films it doesn’t come as a surprise. The ending however is a let down. 4/5

This is probably the best of the ‘AFTER DARK ORIGINALS’ the twin dynamic is nothing new to the horror industry but ‘SECONDS APART’ takes a lesser known subgenera, and goes for the jugular, the twin actors are SO alike it sells the film totally, taking a average script and making the film breath taking. To quote ‘JOBOLO’ ‚there is no good twin bad dynamic here, there is bad twin, and REALLY f**king bad twin. 5/5 ‘FERTILE GROUND’ is a tricky film to review, because the

film itself is a GOOD film, the problem being is that for a series of films that is supposedly ORIGINAL this film has a LOT in common with ‘paranormal activity’ and almost ALL other ghost films,. The effects are good, the acting is good, but the unoriginal script that could be from any ghost film lets it down. 3/5

RE-KILL IS RELEASED ON DVD IN 2012

MORE GORES

10 Most people would expect this film to be higher on the top ten, however there are no jump scares, little gore and the film is only disturbing if you find the films concept unnerving, nonetheless this films controversy has earned its spot on the top 10.

9 ‘RESIDENT EVIL’ is a brilliant film, with lots of jump scares. It practically created the modern zombie subgenera. With the score created by shock rocker ‘Marilyn Manson’ and the very white modern settings this film has a great grind and modern glacial feel.

8 From the writer of ‘final destination’ ‘AUTOPSY’ is one of THE best independent horror films, there are tones of jump scares as well as shocking levels of gore. It is only the occasional goofs that have placed this film lower down in the top 10.

7 From the creators of ‘SAW’ dead silence is intense and creepy, there are dolls, living, breathing killer dolls. Does more need to be said? A brilliant scary film by TWISTED PICTURES.

6 “before you die you see” is the tagline of the ring, and before you die you MUST see ‘THE RING’ Few films capture the classic horror vibe as well as this film, it has a clever plot and concept, is well thought out and is quite disturbing and weird a brilliant must see film.

5 “I want to play a game” it seems so sad that we may never hear those words again. Saw is one of the most famous horror movies and it is no surprise why, it has one of the most complex plots of any film and is sure to keep you guessing, it is fast paced, shocking and a horror classic.

4 The only thing this vampire movie has in common with ‘TWILIGHT’ is that…….well actually this film has nothing in common with twilight. It is fast, action packed, suspenseful, it knows how to make you jump. This film is genius and it works perfectly.

3 There are few people who have not heard of ‘Ridley Scott's ‘ALIEN’ film. Though some people would argue this film is science fiction not horror it packs scares and suspense and is an all time classic.

2 If there is one film that terrified the world it is ‘A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET’ and in 2010 it’s creator WES CRAVEN remade this classic film, usually remakes are poor in comparison to the original but this film is VERY special and well worth watching.

1 A lot of people say THE THING is the scariest film EVER made, and it is no surprise why, this film packs some of the most successful jump scares of any horror film . Considering this film was made in 1987 the special effects are incredibly bloody and convincing, giving the anatomical detail the makers of SAW 7 can only dream of, there is no bright pink blood in this film. The aliens are so unique in this film, there are no overused Roswell style aliens in this film, there is however a large amount of slime, pus and tentacles .

The design of the aliens are genuinely disturbing, and the jump scares are truly scary. It was in 1987 the scariest film ever made and still is to this day, (although some people will argue that the title now belongs to the human centipede) Credit then to John Carpenter for creating a film that is SO disturbing, SO raw and brilliant that it is still ranked by most horror fans as the scariest horror film made all these years after its release.

FREDDY KRUGER Horror legend Wes Cravens best creation Freddy kruger is a horror icon. He both terrorizes and delights horror fans and has appeared as the main baddie in a large amount of films , his trade mark red and green jumper is a Halloween tradition, as is the whole NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST series. What made kruger so scary to fans was his ability to twist his victims dreams, into horrific worlds, where Freddy has the upper hand.

JASON VOORHEES Ever wonder why so many kids wear hockey masks on Halloween? Jason Voorhees is the reason. The FRIDAY THE 13TH films practically created the slasher subgenera, and even to this day few slasher baddies have the fans love as much as Jason, even though the films plots can be a bit far fetched at the best. His look is so iconic from the hockey mask to his machete, there are few film villains like Jason.

THE ALIEN The Alien aka Xenomorph was created by Swiss surrealist H.R Geiger and its design based on one of his paintings ‘Necronom IV’ when it was first released ALIEN was considered to be the scariest film ever made. Horror has progressed a lot since then but so has this iconic monster. What made the alien SO shocking was its perverse sexuality woven into its entire being, from the face huggers, the chest burster and the xenomorph itself . The alien is a stunning film creation.

LEATHER FACE THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is one of the most popular horror films ever made, second only to the SAW franchise. The main killer, commonly known as ‘leather face’ is a truly shocking horror creation, his image may have changed with each of the films' squeals and remakes , but he still knows more than any other slasher baddie how to make the audience jump.

THE PREDATOR Few film monsters have such a clever aesthetic design as the predator, it blends a outstanding mix of ancient tribal and futuristic si-fi technology. Its deadly weaponry and badass attitude have landed it in a huge amount of comic books and in the film spin off series ALIENS VS PREDATOR battling the Xenomorph.

THE THING(1987 version) Few shape shifting aliens are as scary as this one, each new form is more horrific than the last, with more blood, pus, slime and a healthy dose of general ooze. To this day it is one of the most brilliant and shocking movie monsters, and probably will be for some time to come. It goes to prove that in most cases older films have far more charm and originality than most new releases.

There is nothing like a good horror film, and in most cases the more gore (pun not intended) the better, however there are some films that are SO extreme they can leave a bad taste in your mouth, most notably cannibal holocaust. But should the films be left to the viewers discretion, or should they never have been made in the first place? Films so depraved that the censors have banned them, or forced drastic cuts. THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2(full Sequence) was originally banned in the UK, but after a four Month battle with the British censors and a total of 32 cuts The film was passed with a n 18 certificate. A Serbian film’ is often voted to be the sickest film ever Made, it is a film that lacks all common morals and pushes Gore, sexual violence and torture to obscene levels, the Result? A film so depraved it has been banned in 32 different Countries and has only been released in the UK after 68 cuts. You cant help but wonder how far film makers are allowed to go, from slaughtering REAL live animals on screen in ‘cannibal holocaust’ to full frontal nudity, EXTREME sexual torture and mental abuse with GRAPHIC gore in ‘a Serbian film’ while there is the argument that it is only special effects and make believe, should the scripts have ever been written? Horror is one thing but can anyone justify the level of cruelty these films show in full detail? Graphic gore is to be expected in horror films, and is part of some films appeal (ex. saw, Texas chainsaw) but it is unknown how watching scenes of mental torture and extreme sexual violence can influence the mind, films like saw, are issued an 18 certificate, films like ‘a Serbian film’ are classed as NC-17 witch means you can expect, nudity, EXTREMELY high gore (note most films of this cert wont be classed as it just because of gore)sexual torture, and mental abuse.

Love it, or hate it, there are few horror fans who have not heard of Dutch film maker Tom Six’s creation THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE(first sequence). There are few films out there that seem to divide opinions as much as the Dutch film makers creation, with some calling it “the greatest film ever made” and the rest “a perverted sick joke” The controversy has gone SO far Tom Six gets death threats On Facebook and other social networking sites. He is often called Sick, and insane for being able to write a film like the ‘THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE’ but to true horror fans Tom Six is a Genius for being able to bring back the much loved BODY HORROR genre. After the controversy the first instalment caused Tom started work on the second part of the series THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2(full sequence). A film he promised that would shock the world, and it really did. the second film was SO shocking in fact it needed 32 cuts to be granted an 18 certificate in the UK and in some countries it was totally banned. For Toms haters it was the perfect excuse to up their campaign against him. But is the hate deserved? The series’ concept may be unusual, but surely there are far bigger things in the world to be upset and angry about than a work of fiction. Even if THIS fiction is, according to Tom 100% medically accurate. Love him, hate him or openly despise him, you CANT deny that Tom Six has a long and bright future in the horror genre. His work may divide opinions, but maybe that was the idea all along, to create a film others would tell their friends about, and they would tell THEIR friends, and before long he has THE most talked about film series ever created.

Twisted Pictures was formed after the box office success of Saw in 2004, which lead to a nine-picture distribution deal with Lionsgate. The company went on to produce six sequels in the Saw film series. Carl Mazzocone served as president for four years. In June 2007, the company formed a joint venue with RKO Pictures to remake four films out of RKO library. The remakes include, Five Come Back (1939), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), The Body Snatcher (1945), and Bedlam (1946). In October 2009, Twisted Pictures landed a deal with the ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ rights-holders Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel after discussions with Platinum Dunes fell apart. The deal is for multiple films.

Few film company's have the same grasp of horror as Twisted Pictures. Their films have a dark, edgy feel to them, that and more than a few gallons of blood. The complexity of their plots is legendary, the saw series is often said to have the most complex plot of all films, add James Wan’s vision of gore and creepy puppets and you have Twisted Pictures, true horror icons.

Their latest release INSIDIOUS is probably one of the best new release horror films, and far better than their competitors let down ‘paranormal activity ‘ all their films have a real grit and humanity to them, the emotion shows in the characters they are not just there to be killed off. Twisted Pictures are genuine masters of horror, and will probably hold the title for quite some time.

10 Paranormal Activity Paranormal Activity” is hailed as one of the most effectively frightening horror flicks of recent years, Its deliberately slow pace sets you up for THE most terrifying jump scare at the end. This film genuinely gets inside your head, and makes it near impossible to get to sleep after watching it.

9 THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT Three student filmmakers venture out into the Burkittsville woods to film a documentary on the local legend of the Blair Witch, but unfortunately find themselves lost, scared, hungry and being hunted by someone, or something. Making $250 million worldwide, the film is one of the most financially successful independent films the world has ever seen.

8 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre(1974) A group of friends travel through the sweaty state of Texas to visit the dilapidated old family home of two of the group, only to be greeted by a family of cannibalistic murderers, one of whom has a keen liking for a certain power tool. Tobe Hooper’s guts-and-all horror flick is, frankly, disgusting; this is precisely why it’s so effective.

7 SHAUN OF THE DEAD Shaun, a slacker salesman living in London, is utterly horrified when his girlfriend, Liz, dumps him. Waking up the next morning with a horrendous hangover, he determinedly sets out to go to Liz and win back her heart. Meanwhile, flesheating zombies take over the world. Promoted as the world’s first ever rom-zom-com, director Edgar Wright’s feature-film debut is one of the most drop-dead hilarious films of the last decade. Making household names out of its two main stars, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

6 HALLOWEEN(1978) The quiet fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois is in for quite a surprise this Halloween, when homicidal maniac Michael Myers breaks out of his psychiatric hospital and returns to his hometown with his own special brand of trick-or-treating in store. “Halloween” is seen to be one of the first slasher films to hit theatres, thus sparking a whole new subgenre of horror cinema. It not only gave the world of film one of its greatest villains, stalker-slasher Michael Myers.

5 DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) At a time when the undead are literally consuming the world’s increasingly miniscule population, a small band of survivors horde up inside a gigantic supermarket, which kinda goes a little awry. George A. Romero’s sequel to his classic “Night of the Living Dead,” one of the world’s first true zombie films, is a little different from its predecessor. For one, it’s not filmed in black-and-white, so all the gloriously grizzly gore can now be seen in vibrant Technicolor.

4 A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET(1984) The teenagers of Elm Street are beginning to have horrible nightmares in which they are hunted down by a burn-faced psychopath clad in a fedora hat, a stripy sweater and a blade-fingered glove. But they’re just nightmares… right? This film unleashed Freddy friggin’ Krueger upon the world. Yes, this is the film that started Freddy’s reign of stomach-slashing, flesh-tearing, catchphrase-spewing terror. Mr. Krueger, stripy sweater and all, is now an icon of horror cinema

3 THE EVIL DEAD(1981) Five college students venture out into the woods (never a good idea) for a relaxing vacation in an isolated cabin. Only problem is, they accidentally unleash a whole bunch of vicious demons who are determined to swallow the souls of the poor, stupid teenagers. Initially dumped in the category of “video nasties,” many overlooked “The Evil Dead,” considering it to be just another dumb, disgusting, pointless splatter flick. However, the film is anything but this — well, aside from the “splatter” bit; that bit’s true.

2 NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD(1968) A small band of strangers barricade themselves inside a house when they discover that a plague that turns the dead into walking, moaning, mindless zombies is spreading throughout the globe. As mentioned earlier, “Night of the Living Dead” is one of the first true zombie films ever released in theatres. As such, it set a trend, with the hundreds of zombie films released afterwards owing quite a debt to George A. Romero’s cult classic.

1 EVIL DEAD 2(1978) Picking up where the first film left off, “Evil Dead II” allows us to happily watch as sometimes heroic, mostly cowardly hero Ash Williams runs about the woods, desperately trying to fend off the mischievous demons striving to possess his soul. “Evil Dead II” is one of the most entertaining films of all time. This is down to several things. For one, the film is much more humorous than its predecessor; there’s quite a bit of “Three Stooges”-esque slapstick comedy going on. Also, the brilliant Bruce Campbell makes for an astonishingly amusing protagonist,

More Gore

FILM TO WATCH For fans of the popular ‘UNDERWORLD’ series 2012 marks the release of the 4th instalment of the series and the return of Kate Beckinsale as vampire warrior Selene fighting Lycans (werewolves) in skin tight leather. ‘RISE OF THE LYCANS’ is the third instalment of the series and outlines the beginning of the war between Vampires and werewolves

The film begins with a monologue by Selene (Kate Beckinsale), telling the story of the Lycans and vampires. It has been 20 years since the war between them has begun. Viktor (Bill Nighy) has built up an army of vampires to fight off the threat and have begun the process of exterminating the Lycans. It appears that when someone is infected by a lycan, they transform into were-wolves, but do not change back and appear to behave like vicious animals rather than people. However, one day, in a prison cell, Viktor hears the cries of a human child, and investigates. What he discovers is a human child born of a lycan later named Lucian. Viktor contemplates killing the child, but could not bring himself to do it. Lucian grows up, and appears to be stronger and more focused than others of his kind; this is evident when Viktor tests him by making him fight vampires. Viktor decides to make more of Lucians kind (the new Lycans that have human form). Viktor uses Lucian to make more like him by starving him and letting him feed on human slaves. The ones that survived became the new Lycans, a new slave race to serve the vampires. The vampires think they have control of the Lycans, but this may not be the case for long. This film has a BRAVEHEART feel, with less chest hair(witch is weird seeing as it is a film about werewolves) it is a very new direction to the series seeing as it more about the werewolves than the vampires, there are no machine pistols in this film, there is how ever a lot more physical combat and swards making for more of an action packed film. It is full of twists and surprises, as well as a fair bit of vamp/wolf violence , it is well worth a watch.

FILM TO WATCH In Rutland Country, the six year-old Benjamin Michael Landry is kidnapped by a psychopath in the lawn of his house. His father Craig Landry unsuccessfully runs after the truck but the abductor escapes. Sooner the police discovers that John Kozlowski had abducted and killed Benjamin. When the criminal is sentenced to 25 years in prison only, Benjamin's mother Elise Landry presses her husband to kidnap John and torture him. Craig is a doctor and knows exactly how to inflict pain to the psychopath. They succeed to kidnap John from the prison transport, but Craig has an accident and John is hurt. The couple tortures the man until they find the truth about their victim. The violence in THE TORTURED is, quite frankly sickening, it is hard not to throw up in several points in this film, it is cold blooded and openly sadistic. In most ‘torture’ films there is quite a lot of other content as well as the torture, but in this movie, after the initial kidnapping of the child and suspenseful police investigation you are basically spending an hour watching a man be put through the most extreme pain, and I warn you, it is grotesque. In fairness to this movie however, the special effects are incredible selling the horrific torture totally, the acting is not bad at all, maybe a little lacking in places though… there are moments in a good horror movie where you HAVE to look away, this film is pretty much 78 minuets of it, so does that make it a good movie or a sick gore fest? Well honestly i can not answer that, I will have to leave that up to you. A word of warning however, f you are upset by graphic bloody violence, child abduction, scenes of animal cruelty (though this does not feature hugely in the film) and human suffering, do NOT watch this film! You would regret it… We have had so many comments on our FB page asking us to explain what happens at the end of the film…and we have to tell you we don’t have a clue…….it is often said to be the most confusing end to a film and we have to agree, we are still trying to depict what really happens at the end.
