Social and cultural activities during the meetings of MMM We prepared different activities for each meeting – related to the hosting school and its abilities. By this we tried to increase the sense of togetherness among the participants of different ages (from 13 to 17). We want to rise the awareness of similarities and differences between Europeans from different countries , who sometimes were the first time abroad together with unknown students. To foster this perception we will talk about this at one of the last meetings. At each meeting we had a welcome/farewell-party together with the hosting parents and other teachers from staff and at least a common meal with traditional food. Of course we there were cultural activities while working on math, too. In addition to this we had the following special events: First meeting in Germany: 1) Poster and video presentation from all partners 2) Sports: acrobatic figures in the planned international team (video)
3) Hitting with a newspaper  students form a circle of chairs  one student stands in the middle with a newspaper role
a sitting student begins by calling a name of one of the students sitting on a chair the “newspaper- student” has to hit the student whose name was called the student whose name was called has to say a name of another sitting student before getting hit if the newspaper student hits the sitting student before, he calls another name; those students change roles the former “newspaper- student” begins by calling a new name 4) Speed-Dating rows of tables are formed all foreign students sit at the one side of those tables and the other students at the other side timer starts two students who sit in front of each other have to interview each other each student also has to learn at least 10 (9, 8, …) words in the language of the other student e.g. brother – Bruder, mother – Mutter, aple – Apfel, … after a couple of minutes the foreign students take the seat to their left and everything starts again 5) Welcome-party with teachers’ band, all participating students and parents in school (see video) 6) Work on architecture and maths in the center of Unna, historical aspects included
