The Advantages Of 3D Printers

ď śThe rise of manufacturing with 3D printers begins a new era of costeffective item production. Even the most elaborate and complicated of designs and shapes can be effectively replicated through the use of these machines, all through the implementation of various algorithms and equations. ď śThe more the technology improves, the easier it will be for companies to create their own products to save money and time.

ď śBy making prototypes easier and cheaper to make, companies are encouraged to experiment and see what works long before the product is finally on the shelves. ď śInterpreting a two dimensional design involves a precision machine to effectively interpret the data. The lack of variation in most processes makes them ideal for testing products.

ď śMaterials used in the process are typically melted down so that they can be more effectively molded into a precise shape. This allows for no variation to occur unless the designer wills it so. ď śAs such, creating multiple copies or prototypes of an upcoming product becomes much easier, and can be done from the comfort of a home or office building.

ď śThe most common method of printing in three dimensional space is through extrusion. This involves a majority of organic materials that are produced and stored in a liquid or near-liquid state. ď śThis preserves their integrity and makes the process of manufacture much more precise. Thermoplastics and even edible materials can be made to extrude into a final design.

ď śExtrusion and granular printing processes often work in tandem with one another. Thin metal sheets are used to create a series of interlocking parts that can be used to finalize a design. These metals may be less cost-efficient than organic compounds, but the chances of there being a manufacturing error goes down even further. Typically, designs are first seen with organic extrusion methods, and then a simple prototype made through a granular process.

ď śThe granular method of processing involves a ground-up building of the design. A foundation is laid with the initial materials, and then the product is built upwards as materials are stacked and interwoven with one another. ď śThis tends to be a very effective form of printing because designers can see how difficult it would be to manufacture the product outside of the printer's effectiveness.

ď śThe prohibitive cost of certain 3D printers can shy away some buyers. Even today, the technology is only becoming more and more affordable. ď śAs companies begin to design and produce products using this manufacturing method, buy-in prices for new businesses looking to make their own products will fall.
