Towards Intelligent Ruins B. Krucker & S. Bates Kasia Juszczyszyn

The idea is to start from an industrial site and create a public building, without any real function, whose use can be adapted over the years. Sustainability over time and structural logic are the main themes. Between sketches, plans, photos and renderings, we discovered the monumentality of a multifunctional structure.

Due to the imprevisible corona situation, my teammates and I came back from our ERASMUS at TUM and had the possibiliy to form a new group in the studio Fröhlich, arriving late in the EPFL semester.

MER DE BROUILLARD

Starting from the analyse of the site of the EPFL, we chose the form generative idea of the Foggy Sea to guide our project. The aim of the semester was to explore a form generative idea following the thinking process of Valerio Olgiati's non-referential architecture. By reusing the structure of a Tram depot, we imagined a sustainable future to respond to the needs of the EPFL : an interdisciplinary hub. We explored a new order and also the challenges of the quarantine period.

Integration of a 1:1 wooden protostructure in the KANAL BRUT Centre Pompidou building in Brussels with the collaboration of the CIVA. Each EPFL first-year studio realized a project of a room to assemble them into a house. This project aims at discovering teamwork on a larger scale, the work of the wood and its constructive dimension. Zoom on my studio project...

Project carried out by groups to discover work on a 1:1 scale. This project allowed me to to investigate a rather unusual context since our site was located under the Malley Bridge in full vegetation. The project wants to integrate into this abandoned place to create a cocoon sheltered from all eyes but which opens ours to the surroundings.

Planes blending together to offer a specific spatial sensation. In my case I wanted to translate an atmosphere inspired by the ELEMENT project we had designed.
