WE ARE MORGAN & MORGAN Hello and a very warm welcome to Mallorca. I’m Leigh Morgan. Together with my wife, Pille, I co-founded Morgan & Morgan and our Fabulously Good Homes Collection following a life-changing experience here in Pollensa.
HOW IT BEGAN Our company’s seeds were sown back in the summer of 2012. We left our home in Chester to holiday in my father’s villa in La Font, near Pollensa Old Town. This was a decision that was to reroute our lives. One beautiful evening we were sitting at the pool’s edge, sipping G&Ts and watching the clouds glisten as the sun set over the rugged Tramuntana mountains. Everything fell into place and at that very moment, we decided to start a business that focused on bringing discerning travellers to Mallorca.
OUR EXCLUSIVE APPROACH We helped a handful of buyers find, purchase and create their ultimate island escapes over the next twelve months. Then in 2013, Morgan & Morgan’s Fabulously Good Homes Collection was launched, with six of the island’s most beautiful villas available for exclusive rent. As our reputation grew, Morgan & Morgan became synonymous with exceptional villa experiences in Pollensa, northern Mallorca.

CA NA BENNASSAR Ca Na Bennassar is a handsome rural villa with a pool, separate casita, sprawling sun terraces and views of the Tramuntana mountain peaks. The tinies were very happy playing in the pool, and the biggies enjoyed being able to unwind in the very comfortable surroundings and the heat, which was such a joy. ALICANTI Boundaries blur between indoor and outdoor living in this stylishly finished, cyclistfriendly townhouse in Pollensa. The smooth roads are well-maintained, and locals know that cycling is a large part of Mallorca’s appeal. Services and suppliers are very good at dealing with large groups of cyclists and drivers tend to be a bit more patient than in the UK. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ROUTE?
I love the long and winding descent from Lluc Monastery to Pollensa Old Town. It’s a fast, sweeping descent that allows you to really push it, ultimately going very fast with relatively minimal risk. It makes all the climbing to get there worthwhile! WHERE TO STAY IF CYCLING?
Where you base yourself will influence your itinerary. The longest route around the perimeter of the island is 312km. A north to south route comes in around 75km or from east to west it’s 100km. Most cyclists stay in northern coastal towns like Pollensa and Alcudia for their location at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains and for their proximity to epic

ROUTE 1: LLUC MONASTERY The spectacular route between Pollensa Old Town and Lluc Monastery is Leigh Morgan’s favourite bit of tarmac on the entire island. It’s the ultimate introduction to road biking in the Tramuntana. Head out from Pollensa to begin the climb to Coll de Femenia (640m). Only vineyards, goats and glimpses of the sea interrupt the gradual climb. The altitude gain soon rewards you with phenomenal views down the valley to the Bay of Formentor.

Over the col, the road undulates before a blast through the forest delivers you to Lluc Monastery. Its vast sun-bleached courtyard makes for an ideal coffee stop. To vary the return and put a smile on your sunswept face, expend those cake calories on the short sharp climb to the Ma2130 for a hairpin descent via Caimari and Selva. Enjoy the leisurely last 20km past Campanet and rural foothills before rolling triumphantly back into Pollensa.
ROUTE 2: CAP FORMENTOR Pack some of Mallorcan cycling’s best bits into this linear 50km route with 500m of ascent. The climb out of Puerto Pollensa will wake up your desk-fatigued legs for sure. The epic views back over the Bay are your reward. Once past the crowds at Mirador es Colomer, the descent to Playa de Formentor is magical. Alpine hairpins snake through sweet-scented pine forests on brand new tarmac. Cycling heaven.

After Formentor, the road goes through a spectacular National Park with views of the Med on both sides. Once at the iconic lighthouse, celebrate sweet success with a delicious ice-cream. Though a there and back trip, this landscape offers something different every time. Local riders never tire of its charms and challenges. To shorten the ride, meet friends with a bike-friendly car at Formentor for the drive home.
ROUTE 3: SA CALOBRA
Sa Calobra is Mallorca’s most renowned cycling route. It’s an absolute must-ride, with 4000m of punishing ascent over a 100km snake of a route. If you understand the appeal of climbing on a road bike, put the holiday aside for a second, set off while the sightseers are still sleeping and step up to the challenge of Sa Calobra. The climb to Lluc Monastery is a warm-up as the anticipation mounts. Conserve your
energy for now and don’t attack too soon. Once beyond Lluc, the undulating road continues to rise until it reaches the final climb to the Coll dels Reis. After a quick photo stop, it’s heads down for what feels like an endless descent into the tiny port of Sa Calobra, dropping 682m en route. The road couldn’t have been designed any better. It’s cycling Disneyland. Swooping hairpins give way to long straights before
the tarmac weaves through the ‘rock garden’ at the bottom of the valley. Stop for a quick caffeine kick and to dip your toes into the sea or pivot straight around for the journey home.

The return starts gently enough while still below the treeline. Once the green gives way to the rocky, higher-altitude sections, the gradient noticeably steps up a notch. The final stretch below Lluc Monastery is
