Today, the Morgan State University family pauses to honor the legendary career of Melvin N. Upon his retirement in June 2022, Miles will have served his alma mater for forty-nine years.

Among the highlights of his career are a performance for President Barack Obama at the White House and leading the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The performance of “Pomp and Circumstance” during the recessional of the Undergraduate Commencement Exercises will be the last time the Morgan State University Band will be conducted by Melvin N.
