40TH ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT LUNCHEON Morgan State University will be hosting the 40th anniversary of our Administrative Support Luncheon on April 23, 2020. Do you remember the number one song on the billboard charts in 1980? What was the trendiest hair style in 1980? Come prepared to answer some trivia questions, we have great prizes!! Morgan State University offers telework to those eligible employees, who would like to work at a location approved by Morgan. In order to work from home, an employee must submit a request to HR for approval. Telework requires prior approval. Approval requirements include but are not limited to the following. Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information
Morgan State University has been and will continue to closely monitor the evolving developments involving Coronavirus (COVID-19). There are currently five confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maryland but none at Morgan State University. PERSONAL PREVENTION & TIPS The CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
?
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Stay home when you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. Follow CDC's recommendations for using a facemask. CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty. WORK ACCOMODATION REQUESTS
COMPLETING A WORK ACCOMODATION REQUEST An employee may apply for an ADA Accommodation by completing the ADA Accommodation request form and submitting it to the Diversity & EEO Office New Jenkins Building, 326 & 327, Baltimore, MD 21251. The employee is required to provide information about his/ her disability on the ADA Accommodation form. The Medical Inquiry Form is completed by the employee's physician.
UNIVERSITY CLOSURE : MARCH 20, 2020 Morgan State University closed for the Holiday break on December 19, 2019, and re-opened on January 2, 2020. During the holiday closure/break, Governor Larry Hogan designated December 24, 2019, as a state holiday. Given that the University was already closed on December 24, 2019, this "Governor's Holiday" will be observed for Morgan State University on March 20, 2020, during spring break. This holiday applies to those employees who were hired on or before December 24. 2019. On your web timesheet use earning code: "Holiday Pay" (not University Holiday). Per the 2019 Contractual Holiday schedule, December 24th was included, therefore contractual employees will receive this holiday as well. March 20, 2020 closure is listed on the 2020 Holiday Schedule found on the HR page of our website. 2020 W4 Forms W4 forms can be completed on the POSC Website. Please sign up for an account today to make changes to your tax exemptions. Only those changing their address need to visit the Office of Human Resources to complete a W4 form, all other changes can be completed on POSC. PAYCHECK UPDATE • We will like to remind employees to only cash/deposit their checks once. • With the luxury of Online banking deposits, we may forget that a check has already been cashed. • Please remember, once you deposit your check online, it is against the law to try to cash your check at the bank as well.
Employees caught trying to cash a check twice will be held responsible. An employee is able to check with their bank to confirm that a check has been deposited successfully when using Online banking. Once confirmed, please do not try to cash your check again.
EXEMPT STATUS - EMPLOYEE Employees are required to complete new W4 forms every year by 1/31, to continue their exemptions from FICA taxes. Those employees who do not fill out a new form will be automatically changed to 0 and 1 by the State Central Payroll Bureau by April 30. If you need to change your exemptions, please complete a W4 form at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

EXEMPT STATUS - STUDENTS
Students/International students who work at Morgan should complete a W4 to reflect your tax status. If you are 19 or younger or a full-time student under 24, you are considered a dependent and you may not have to pay taxes. It is important to indicate your exemption status to avoid taxes being withheld from your paycheck. Please note, if you are exempt and wish to remain exempt the following calendar year, you must complete a new W4 by January 31 every year or taxes will be deducted from your paycheck. For additional information about tax exemption please visit
www.irs.gov. Identification Requirements For our newly hired employees, it is important to provide two forms of identification during orientation. Examples of acceptable identification are driver’s license and social security card or driver’s license and birth certificate or just a US Passport. International students are required to provide a copy of their visa stamped. A social security card with “Valid for work only with DHS authorization” must be accompanied with a copy of your visa page. Please note the Office of Human Resources will not accept school ID as supplemental identification if you have a student visa or a work authorized Social Security card. We appreciate you providing the required documentation. Please click here for more information about acceptable identification. Timesheets Web timesheets should be completed and submitted by the end of the pay period. If you are submitting a paper timesheet, please submit it to the Payroll office, Montebello Rm 212. All you need is the University Agency Code, which is 361300, and a check advice number and you will be able to sign up online.
