Some dram good solutions Moriarti were recently commissioned to create a 20 language interactive experience which highlights everything there is to see and do at this Edinburgh visitor attraction. The 3 touchscreen kiosks form an integral part of the new retail experience and also allow shoppers to explore Scotland’s distilleries alphabetically or via a regional map of Scotland.

A bespoke iPad application which allows serious whisky connoisseurs to browse the shop’s choice of rare and luxury whiskies was also commissioned. The applications were developed using the latest web-based technologies (HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery) so that they can be viewed on both the kiosks and iPads. This approach means that applications can be viewed on any digital device with an internet connection and could easily be put online to be accessed more widely. The applications are based on the Joomla! content management system, enabling staff at The Scotch Whisky Experience to update content when required. Our team is also able to access the applications remotely in order to update or add new functionality at any time.

Serious fun in the forest Our ‘Save the Capercaillie‘ game was designed for the Glenmore Visitor Centre to increase awareness of the Capercaillie population’s current plight. The game takes the form of a multiple choice quiz, where the objective is to ensure the birds’ survival. Questions are based on factors that directly affect the Capercaillie population. Capertastic! is a giant 7’ x 4’ wall-mounted game primarily aimed at younger children. The purpose of the game is to encourage responsible behaviour, not just in the Capercaillie habitat but in the countryside in general.

Bright ideas for Sharp Solar As the global leaders in Solar Photovoltaic technology, Sharp created a Solar Visitor Centre in Wrexham to provide information, education and training to the wider community. Moriarti were commissioned to design and develop kioskbased interactives which test visitors’ knowledge with quizzes and games via 3 different applications. The kiosks needed to appeal to diverse audiences including architects, developers, self-builders, conservationists, students and school children.

History you can touch For the first time in 300 years since the signing of the Acts of Union, these priceless documents were displayed side-by-side at the Scottish Parliament’s “Making the Act of Union” exhibition. Due to the delicate nature of these documents, they were only displayed behind glass and with one page on view. To get around this, Moriarti created interactive kiosks featuring digital versions of the entire documents that could be examined in very fine detail with the aid of an on-screen magnifying glass.
