In late September 2014 my wife and I returned back to Australia after a successful business trip to a few countries. We were pleased to secure almost all of our orders, especially in Egypt where our suppliers have dramatically reduced their production, as they face the grim reality of almost no tourists for the past four years. Upon our return to Australia and over the following three months we had excellent sales for the December quarter. This exceeded our expectations by far. So we made another overseas trip for more stock

in mid January 2015 for four weeks. Although we had a marvelous time overseas, it was sweet to come back home to Australia. Our new collection is on offer now and in store, among many other stunning pieces there are 18 carat Tanzanite rings. Tanzanite is rare. It is 1000 times rarer than Diamonds. In fact this beautiful blue violet gem is only found in one place on earth, deep in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa. Things are changing at the Mornington Peninsula Shire. Under the leadership of new CEO Carl Cowie, our Hastings, Rosebud and Mornington offices are being reordered, with a strong focus on serving our customers – that’s you! Ratepayers and residents will hear a lot about this in the coming weeks and months, but at the end of the day this means fewer of your dollars going to consultants and external planners, and more into capital works and services. I have no doubt this will bring about positive cultural change in our Shire. Closer to home, the new Civic Reserve was officially opened recently. You have the opportunity to play so many different sports like handball, underwater hockey and floorball – you can even visit other countries like France, Germany, Indonesia, India, Cambodia, and Thailand. You can feed kangaroos, pat emus, or even do what my friend does, and walk the school’s pet lizard ‘Snoozy’ at lunchtimes. There is so much you can do, but only one thing you have to do. Exciting times ahead “A lot of exciting things are happening at The Yoga House this year.” says Anna Jorgensen, who operates The Yoga House from her studio in Mt Eliza. “At the end of March we have our first Yoga Retreat in Daylesford.” Then their Ropes and Restorative mini Retreat in Mt Eliza is on May 24th, 2-5pm. This will be a 3 hour mini retreat focused on using ropes to become more aware of alignment in poses and to help open areas of the body that we may usually find difficult to reach. The ropes can also be used as extra support and to stretch and strengthen specific areas of the body. Anna explains, “In the 2nd half we move into a restorative and nourishing practice allowing you to rest, restore and relax. This is the practice where we use all the TheVillageMtElizaMagazine

props to get comfy and hold the poses at length. We finish the day with a healthy afternoon snack and tea - a session not to be missed.” The Yoga House begins Term 2 on Monday April 13th, you are able to book online, call or text. “An important part of our practice at the studio is to learn how to be in the present moment. In our society we very much value multi tasking, but that can leave us with feeling of stressed, anxious, sleepless and other discomforts. “ says Anna. Anna realises it is not possible to completely change our lives but we can take steps to slow down. Anna continues, “We practice this in our yoga classes, to take small steps to be in the present moment, only doing one thing at a time.”

The café is owned and operated by Katie Olge who has been living on the peninsula now for over 14 years. Katie successfully owned and operated Chocolat patisserie of Mornington with a business partner but has now gone out on her own to concentrate more on her passion providing customers a friendly atmosphere to enjoy great home cooked food and great coffee. Some may recognise Katie from the ANZ bank where she worked for over 20 years on the peninsula.
