Our Stone & Marble

Blurb & Stone Types Agean Limestone Sourced from the Eastern Medittaranean area, our Agean limestone surrounds are beautifully unique in character. Each mantel has its own individual fossil formation, veining and colour, so no two are the same. Our stunning cream-coloured limestone is handcrafted into a variety of contemporary and traditional designs.

Carrara Marble Originally quarried in the Italian city of Carrara, this stunning material has provided beautiful fireplace outlines for centuries, and it was used for some of the most remarkable buildings in Ancient Rome, including the Pantheon and Trajan’s Column. Every Carrara marble fireplace has its own distinctive character, but our mantels are generally white with fine grey or grey-blue veining.

Liberty White Marble This white dolomitic marble is renound for forming the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. It’s a 100% natural material that’s hand carved to produce a selection of stunning modern and time-honoured designs. Our Liberty White fireplaces are generally snow-white and consistent in colour, yet soft grey speckled veins can be present.

Umbrian Stone Rustic yet sophisticated in nature, our Umbrian Stone is creamy beige in colour, and carefully sourced from the Mediterranean coast. It’s smooth in its appearance and silk-like to touch, yet gentle variation and veining can exist, adding even more charm to this stunning natural stone.

Due to the nature of the materials and appliances used within this brochure actual finishes and colours may vary slightly. Flames shown within the fires may also vary depending on gas type, fuel quality and the performance of the flue or chimney.

Made to measure fireplaces

We strive to offer our customers a great deal of flexibility in terms of scaling up and scaling down their fireplace, and that’s why we’ve implemented a ‘Made to Measure’ service for a variety of mantels and suites. No matter how small or large your chimney breast or room is, you can customise your fireplace to get the perfect fit, and each of the materials below is available as Made to Measure: • Portuguese Limestone • Umbrian Stone • Barley White • Perla • Satin Beige

Whether you’d like to change the overalls size of your fireplace, make your shelf wider or reduce the rebate size, we can deliver a completely tailored service. Every mantel in our brochure with the ‘Made to Measure’ label can be customised to your individual requirements, but we do recommend you liaise with your local Capital Fireplaces retailer before placing an order, as they can help make sure you get the perfect fit. Every one of our Capital dealers can provide technical advice as well as information on pricing, lead time, delivery and installation, and you can locate your nearest dealer by visiting: www.capitalfireplaces.co.uk

Widening or deepening your hearth or top shelf Whether you’d like your top shelf or hearth to be deeper, wider, slimmer or thicker, we can meet your expectations with a tailored fit. Just remember, it’s important to be clear on what you will be using the hearth for, as some hearths have to be a certain thickness or cut into sections and re-joined to meet appliance regulations.

Scaling your fireplace up or down With our flexible made to measure service, we can change the size of your entire fireplace, meaning it really doesn’t matter how small, tall, narrow or wide your opening is. For further information on this service, please contact your approved Capital Fireplaces dealer at: www.capitalfireplaces.co.uk/fireplace-stockists/

Introducing our Fireplace Studio Ever wanted to design your own fireplace? Well, our new fireplace builder software let’s you do just that.

Our brand new Fireplace Studio allows you to create your very own fireplace from scratch. Because there are so many different components involved in the making of a fireplace, it can be difficult to visualise it in its entirety. As you browse our brochure, you’ll see that we try to showcase as many different designs as we possibly can, but it’s not feasible to show you every combination possible. That’s why we’ve introduced our digital Fireplace Studio, giving you the tools to design, and more importantly, visualise your fireplace before reaching a decision you’re 100% happy with. You can quickly and easily design your own fireplace in minutes, customising your style with a range of options to create the perfect finish. To picture how the fireplace is going to look in your home, you can upload a photo of your room to create the room set, or you can choose wall and floor colours that replicate those in your home. Once you’ve set up your room, it’s simply a case of flicking through our surrounds, inserts, baskets, stoves, chambers and fires to create a design that works for you. You can even specify the type of hearth you’d like, while there’s also the option of slip sets and back panels.

So what’s new this time round? You may remember our previous version, but there have been many improvements made. Here are some of the key benefits: • More products to choose from • Improved customisability • Improved download features • Option of a simplified or advanced version • Photo upload feature • Improved sharing facilities We’ll continue to add any new products to the studio, so be sure to keep an eye out. We hope you enjoy using the software, and feel free to share your designs on our Facebook or Twitter page.

Once you’ve completed your design, you’ll be presented with a list of the components included, and you can choose to download this information or share it with a friend via email. You can also download your completed design as a JPEG image. If you’re 100% happy with your final design, we reccommend you take it to your nearest Capital retailer so they can price it up for you.

To start building your very own fireplace, simply visit: www.capitalfireplaces.co.uk/fireplace-studio/ Once you’ve selected your opening size and decided on your room colours, you can proceed to create the fireplace you’ve always dreamed of. When you’ve added your finishing touches and have completed your design, simply download or print your PDF and JPEG files, and take a copy to your local retailer, they’ll then give you a price. It’s that easy. 5

Cast Iron Fireplaces

Cast Iron Fireplaces

Characterised by Victorian and Edwardian features

Our cast iron arches take inspiration from the mid-Victorian period, and each design has been carefully developed to complement a stone, marble or timber surround. Whether you’d like to combine the rigid lines of our contemporary Hanwell surround with a modest Carlisle arch, or fancy reproducing a Regency style dÊcor with the Wandsworth arch and Regent mantel, we have an exquisite collection of mantels and arches to choose between. As you can see from the image to the right, our highlighted Wandsworth arch provides a striking contrast to our Hersham mantel. The subtle lines invite the classic arch to take centre stage, making for a dramatic focal point in your room, especially when the fire is flickering away.

Combination Fireplaces Our cast iron combination fireplaces take inspiration from the late Victorian and early Edwardian period, a time when taller, slimmer and more ornate fireplaces grew in popularity. Cast iron combination fireplaces, as we know them today, were introduced in the Victorian times but they really soared in popularity in the early 1900s. Our time-honoured designs take inspiration from this era, and they showcase those stunning intricate details in a variety of finishes. The Art Nouveau design movement certainly influenced late Victorian and early Edwardian fireplace decorations, and as you can see with our Fairburn and Harewood designs, the legs, frieze and canopy include sinuous detailing. Though they’re a perfect match for living rooms with small chimney breasts, they can also add a touch of class to bedrooms and hallways, and their timeless style makes them suitable for modern and traditional dÊcors. All of our cast iron combination fireplaces come with the option of three finishes; black, highlighted and full polished, and like our cast iron arches, they’re suitable for electric, gas or multi-fuel fires. Our Fairburn fireplace features a round arched opening, which was a prominent decoration in the Victorian period, whilst our Harewood (pictured below) is a touch more Edwardian in character, with straight lines and simpler details. Our cast iron fireplaces are available to buy from any approved Capital Fireplaces retailer, and you can locate your nearest showroom by visiting: www.capitalfireplaces.co.uk/fireplace-stockists/

This new brand was launched in 2010, to deliver efficient gas fires within more traditional and sometimes ornate cast iron fireplaces. We have sought from the design stage to combine the two critical components, the fires and the cast iron surrounds in unison to deliver an aesthetically pleasing integrated appliance that offers you a choice of gas fire and one of the best fuel efficiencies for any integrated appliance on the market.

A sophisticated and highly efficient arch for your fireplace Our Provident back panel can help you create a fireplace that’s beautifully modest and highly efficient, making it a fine centrepiece for any modern or traditional surround. Finished in black with a subtle highlighted arch, the Provident has been one of our best-selling products through the years, and it’s designed to house a highly efficient gas or electric fire. Inspired by the Edwardian and Victorian eras, the Provident back panel is blessed with classical charm, especially when paired with a matching fireframe.

If you’re looking for an arch that balances traditional styling with modern manufacturing techniques, the Provident back panel is a fine choice, and it’s available to buy from any approved Capital Fireplaces retailer. You can find your nearest stockist online at: www.capitalfireplaces.co.uk/stockists/

The arch became a popular fireplace centrepiece in the late 1800s, but our continued commitment to technological advances means you’re now able to choose a cast iron fireplace that delivers excellent output, and lower running costs. The highly efficient black cast iron canvas only enhances the shine of the highlighted arch, providing a sublime contrast to a natural stone or marble fireplace.

Provident Fireframes Our Provident fireframes are designed to to complement the back panel, bringing the timeless arch to a gas or electric fire. You can choose between a black or highlighted finish to best suit your home décor. Highlighted

Our Provident back panel can be fitted with our: Open Fronted Class 1 Convector Class 2 Convector Glass Fronted Convector Lectro Electric Fire

Fireplace Suites A perfect frame for a gas or electric fire Our suites are available in a huge range of designs, so it’s easy to find one that matches the interior of your home. A Portuguese Limestone or Micromarble suite is a stunning surround for a modern gas or electric fireplace, and you can scale up or scale down the size of a suite to get the perfect fit for your room. Whether you love the clean lines of the Dalton,

the decorative carving of the Deighton or the pointed arch of the Swinford, we have an extensive range of suites to choose from, whilst there are four types of compatible fires, each with its own fireframe options (see our Fire section for more details). Each suite is available as a 1” or 3” rebate, whilst you can make your very own customisations, such as adding ambient lighting or a granite back panel and hearth.

Adding ambient lighting Acombe 48” (3” Rebate) with Ambient Lighting in Perla

Ambient lighting not only helps create a warmer impression in your home, it also gives more focus to the fire — in this case our Lectro Electric Inset with a black Halo fireframe. The lighting kit can be operated separately to the fire, meaning you’re able to maintain a cosy ambience with or without the fire switched on. It’s common throughout the fireplace industry for ambient lights only to be provided with 1” rebate suites, but we wanted to change this and offer our customers greater flexibility. And so, we’re pleased to say that we now offer ambient lights as an optional extra for our 3” rebate models (special order).

Made to measure All of our suites are available as ‘Made to Measure’, so whether you need to significantly scale your suite up or down, we can provide a completely tailored service. Our Portuguese Limestone, Satin Beige, Perla and Barley White materials can all be cut to size, and our network of specially chosen retailers will be happy to discuss and

advise you on your individual requirements. Whether you’d like to make your Fontello suite several inches taller for a more dramatic arch, or would like to take your contemporary Belmonte suite up a size, we can ensure your fireplace fits your room perfectly.

Scaling your suite up or down

Widening your top shelf

Deepening your hearth

If you’ve found the perfect suite for you home, but find the standard size isn’t quite right, it’s no problem. We can scale your suite up or down in size, so be sure to keep that in mind when you’re browsing our collection.

If you love a particular suite but feel a wider top shelf would look better in your room, we’ll happily adjust this for you. All you need to do is let your retailer know when you’re placing an order and we’ll do the rest.

Having your suite sat on a deeper hearth is a nice option, and it’s ideal for covering existing carpet cut-outs. No matter what material you choose, we can provide a hearth with the right amount of depth.

Introducing granite for a pleasant contrast Combining a Portuguese Limestone or Micromarble mantel with a granite back panel and hearth can provide a stunning contrast. The polished or honed granite backdrop allows the shape of the mantel to come to the fore. We’ve created this two-tone look here with our Peniche suite. The dark background was a perfect match for our contemporary Aquila 450 inset stove, and it also helps make the arch stand out that little bit more.

Peniche 54” Portuguese Limestone suite with a honed granite backpanel, a honed granite hearth and our contemporary Aquila 450 inset stove.

Portuguese Limestone and Micromarble can sit beautifully in modern and traditional homes, but granite can also help create a timeless style. Honed or polished granite is a durable material and it’s ideal for use with solid fuel stoves, whilst it pairs brilliantly with a Portuguese Limestone surround.

Parrona 48” Portuguese Limestone suite with a honed granite backpanel, a honed granite hearth and our traditional Corvus 450 inset stove.

Using granite to get a tailored fit Like all of our ‘Made to Measure’ materials, our honed and polished granite can also be cut to size. So, whether you require a deeper hearth, a taller back panel or a larger fireplace opening, we can meet your exact requirements. Our network of specially chosen retailers will be happy to discuss and advise you on your individual requirements, and you can find your nearest dealer by visiting: www.capitalfireplaces.co.uk.

Suites materials explained

PORTUGUESE LIMESTONE

Portuguese Limestone This is natural stone, cut straight from the earth. The stone is sedimentary limestone formed over 50 million years ago. The characteristic darker veins on the light background, intermingled with fossils of plants and animal life all add to the beauty and individuality of this great material.

The Portuguese Limestone suites in this brochure come with complete matching hearth and three-piece back panel.

To find ‘blooms’, lighter and darker veins, ’whisps’ of fossilised fern leaves and other unique features are not considered as defects but are part of the experience of owning a Portuguese Limestone suite.

Micromarble An engineered stone, manufactured from crushed marble and specially developed resins, is used to make the suites shown in this brochure.

Our Fire Types Decorative Open Fronted Gas Fire

Open Fronted Gas Convector Fire

With five trim and fret finishes to choose between and a heat output of up to 3.5kW, our Radiant Hotbox fire is a stunning finishing touch to your stone or marble surround. Like all of our fires, an air vent is not usually required, whilst you get a choice of fuel bed; you can stick with the standard coal, or upgrade to pebbles.

Suitable for class 1 and class 2 flues, our open fronted gas convector fire can add a touch of charm to any fireplace suite, and there are a huge range of fireframes to choose between. It uses modern technology to deliver traditional warmth, whilst slide control offers a quick and easy way to adjust the flame height.

Glass Fronted Gas Convector Fire

Lectro Electric Inset Fire

Extremely efficient with a classic coal effect fuel bed, these fires take advantage of a glass front, delivering high glow in ceramic fuel beds at very low settings. One of the main advantages with these fires is that they prevent heat from the room being lost up the chimney when switched off.

A fine option for homes without chimneys, our electric fires are incredibly efficient, making good use of the heat produced. Even when the heat is switched off, you have the option of a bright flame flickering in the background, and this setting uses the same amount of energy as a standard light bulb.

FLAME PICTURES - GAS VS ELECTRIC Gas

Electric It’s always important to consider the flame picture before you decide on a suitable fire; after all it’s going to be a main focal point in your home for years to come. Gas - Realistic and convenient, our carefully designed fuel bed will give your home the picturesque glow of a traditional coal fire. Electric - With the colours and movements of real dancing flames above a bed of realistic coals, our electric flame picture is incredibly convincing.

CONTROL OPTIONS Manual

Remote (Electric)

Our manual controlled Decorative Open Fronted Gas Fire features a single action ‘twist and ignite’ control valve. Once the pilot light is established, you simply twist to adjust the flame height.

Available as standard with our open fronted and glass fronted gas convector fires, slide control allows you to easily adjust the height of the flames. Simply raise or lower the lever for the desired effect.

Our electric fires are designed to offer convenience, and our remote control option allows you to stay seated and create dancing flames at the click of a button.
