PLAY TIME!

Pictured above is a cluster of Christmas tree worms (Spirobranchus giganteus). These shy worms, who live inside of corals, get their names from the crown of featherlike appendages shaped like a Christmas tree. Using these colorful appendages, they collect food and absorb oxygen from the water. Be sure to slow down when you’re snorkeling and diving and look out for them and other cool critters that are hiding in the reef! For our whale lovers, keep your eyes seaward as we are visited by migrating pods throughout February – April.

The Coral Reef Connection Program, started in 2022, aims to bridge the gap and support local underrepresented people in fields of Science, Technology, Mathematics & Engineering (STEM). This program specifically targets local students who are interested in careers in marine biology and resource management from middle school to undergraduate.
