LAND Experiences and Sightseeing Driving, walking and ziplining offer unique tours
While our Caribbean paradise is best known for our mesmerizing blue seas and sandy beaches, there is so much rich culture, history, shopping, dining and sightseeing to be enjoyed on land as well. Thanks to a growing number of tours, from Jeep adventures that offer off-and-on-road tours and traditional island shuttles to walking tours and ziplining, you’ve got to set your sights on seeing the best of what St. Thomas and St. John have to offer during your visit. The Jeep tours mean you have your own personal driver and tour guide and can go to places you might not ever see on your own. They have great itineraries planned that often include sightseeing, shopping, the best island views and some beach and water time as well. Some offer the chance to do an adventure customized just for you and your group. Other tours transport you in open-air touring safari trucks or air-conditioned vans with local veteran tour guides who know their home islands perhaps better than anyone. Of course, for an extreme open-air adventure try ziplining through our lush tropical jungle canopy for a tour above the landscape. The St. Thomas Historical Trust offers walking tours of downtown Charlotte Amalie that are packed with information about several centuries of fascinating history, architecture and culture that’s sure to thrill history buffs and educate the curious. Of course, if you want to explore on foot on your own, you can go to downtown Charlotte Amalie, Red Hook village and the Havensight area on St. Thomas as well as St. John’s Cruz Bay area. Whether on wheels, on foot or in the air, there is so much to see and experience in the U.S. Virgin Islands!
