Welcome to Morton Fraser's Agricultural and Rural Property Team Summer Bulletin (June 2020) It is hard to believe we are in June already! As the UK adjusts to the new normal of remote working and social distancing, we are pleased to let you know that all of our team members are still working at full capacity and are ready to assist with any Agricultural and Rural legal needs. We have an exciting bumper issue of the bulletin this quarter, with a guest interview with Alan Riach of the Scottish Beekeepers' Association, as well as reflections from our own Linsey Barclay-Smith, Matthew Barclay, Gail Watt, and Family Law Partner, Lucia Clark. We hope you enjoy, and if there are any topics you would like us to cover in future bulletins please let us know!

Registers of Scotland Update Registers of Scotland has announced an increase to registration fees effective from 5 October, with an increase of ÂŁ10 across all fees, as well as an increase of ÂŁ10 + VAT on all plans reports. There has also been some concern during the Covid pandemic about whether transactions could actually complete, but the Registers of Scotland has now sorted out applications for Land Registration which can now be dealt with digitally. It is hoped that the Sasine Register will be open for business in early July. They have also announced that some digitally submitted deeds no longer require an advance notice, which increases the types of documents that can be submitted via the electronic system. This also means there is no longer a queue for certain document submissions - all of which is positive for conveyancing transactions! If you have any questions on how this effects your transactions - current or future - please do get in touch with a member of our team via the links below. We're also very happy to discuss with you the benefits of Voluntary Registration which is still very much on the agenda.
