Your Scots Counsel - Annual Litigation in Scotland Update 2021 As part of our Scots Counsel services we enclose our annual Litigation in Scotland Update covering key developments in the field of litigation in Scotland. As mentioned in our report, the coronavirus pandemic had a significant effect on the Scottish legal scene in 2020 including in relation to insolvency, frustration of contract and occupiers' liability. We were also heavily involved with virtual court hearings and mediations. Away from coronavirus, success fee arrangements have finally been introduced in Scotland which may well result in claims being pursued which would otherwise have been dropped. Our Scots Counsel services are aimed at our friends and contacts at law firms who may need support from lawyers in Scotland. We also hope that sharing knowledge from our jurisdiction will be of assistance to your own practice. We have one of the largest and most experienced litigation & dispute resolution teams in Scotland - you can find out more information about our team and how we can support you and your clients here. If our annual Litigation update is not directly relevant to your area of work we would be grateful if you would pass this on to your litigation colleagues. With best wishes, Innes Clark Head of Litigation
