ow the August Bank Holiday weekend is a distant memory it’s time to reflect on the golden (and not so golden) moments. Although there were localised rallies all over the UK, the two main scooter events were both held on the south coast. Did you attend either – and if so, which one? In this issue we have overviews of both the New Untouchables Brighton Mod Weekender and the Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally. The scooter fraternity is divided by

both these events and normally we wouldn’t have the resources to cover both, as they happen over the same time period, but luckily (for us anyway) Cris Davis of www. suityourselfmodernists.com volunteered to help out – so thanks for that mate. The downside is that this puts pressure on editorial space, and with the influx of articles that coincides with the height of the riding season, this inevitably means lack of available space. Consequently, there’s a few

articles that we’ve had to hold over. Increase the number of pages, I hear you say, but that costs money in a variety of areas like page design, printing and additional postage (economic situations that any bonafide newstrade publication with any decentsized circulation figures has to deal with). So I’m afraid it’s that age-old chestnut being played again. Sorry, but normal service will resume as soon as possible.

Thunderbolt all-in-one cleaning wipes

RRP: from £22.99 Specialist automotive cleaning products company Unlimited Passion has just released a new product for riders who want to spend more time riding and less time cleaning. Called Thunderbolt, it’s essentially a box of wipes offering an all-in-one cleaning solution. The cleaning wipes are easily portable and negate the use of water as the product degreases, washes, waxes, polishes and protects. That means there’s no need for numerous lotions and potions to keep your bike in tip-top condition. Safe for use everywhere – apart from on brakes or tyres – it’s claimed you’ll only need to use between two or three wipes to clean a scooter from top to bottom. Thunderbolt wipes can even be used to clean your riding kit, including helmets, visors, leathers, boots and gloves – which means they’re the perfect solution if you’re planning on covering some serious miles away from civilisation. The wipes are available in two different sizes, with either 35 (£22.99) or 80 (£32.99) wipes in a tub. Thunderbolt claim the large tub should allow you to clean a scooter between 25-30 times. The BSRA national rally season culminates this year at the Floral Halls, Southport, over the weekend of October 25-27. One of the highlights of the event will be the Saturday daytime custom show organised by the LCGB – and now’s your chance to enter. A downloadable entry form is available via the LCGB’s website www.ilambretta.com and further information about the event itself can be found on the Southport National Scooter Rally 2019 (official VFM/LCGB/BSRA) Facebook page. There will be a free programme including details of all the scooters entered, so please provide some interesting information about your pride and joy when completing the entry form. CUSTOM SHOW DETAILS IN BRIEF: No ‘on the day’ entries are accepted and all completed forms

must be returned no later than Saturday, October 12. Scooter owners who make a last-minute decision to enter cause immense difficulties at such a large custom show, not only for the stewards attempting to find a space for them, but also for the judging, which has to be organised in advance.

Charity Midnight Walk

Each year York Inset SC supports St Leonard’s Hospice with their Midnight Walk. This event usually attracts around 300 walkers, mainly ladies and young people, and the club helps to marshal them at points around the city and in general keep an eye on them in the early hours. York Inset tell us it’s actually great fun riding scooters and bikes around the city during the night, and on conclusion of the walk they are well looked after and given coffee and bacon sandwiches. The club’s spokesperson, Nick Beilby, said: “We are very proud to be able to help this special organisation.”

Club Display entries are restricted to a maximum of five scooters per display (a recent trend has been to bump up the number of scooters in a Club Display by including scooters not falling within the usual Custom Scooter criteria.
