From the post-punk massed Mod revival of the late 1970s a new cult figure emerged, the likes of which had never been seen before. With a passion for 'traditional' Rhythm & Blues, Tamla Motown, Northern Soul and adrenalin pumping hot steamy AII-Niters, their lifestyle was fast and all absorbing. T hey would gather at coastal resorts in their thousands and party hard for days at a time. They made their own rules from within and their first loves were their scooters. They called themselves 'Scooter Boys'
Gareth Brown has owned and ridden Italian motor scooters and been an active cult scooterist on the roads of Europe since 1978. He was the first true scooter-riding editor of Scootering magazine and has had over one thousand articles published on the scootering movement. A graduate of social history, Gareth also lectures regularly on the phenomena of youth culture, and is widely regarded as the world-leading authority on lifestyle scooter culture. 11
