Exam Evaluation The research that I gathered on mental health, particularly on the mental illness that I chose to explore such as Depression, Anxiety, Low Self Esteem and Psychotic Disorders really helped me to understand about these particular illnesses, and help me design awareness posters for these particular illnesses. I feel the photographs that took for my posters were of a good quality, although a few pictures I could have re taken in a better lighting, so the pictures would come out clearer. In my opinion I think that I didn’t push my creative boundaries in my poster ideas, as I feel they could have included more challenging ideas. However I kept them simple and clear, as I wanted to get straight to the point, and focus more on putting across what the poster is for. Although I feel the poster I have done for anxiety and psychotic disorders, could have been a bit more clearer what it is about, because it is not as clear what it is about, compared to the posters on depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. I feel the artists that I chose to look at contributed a lot to my final ideas for the posters. The artists I chose to look at where Bairon Rivera, whose work was very dark and had the theme of defying gravity. Another artist that I looked at was Jati Putra Pratama. His work is brighter and adding to scenes together normally but they made it look as though it is “normal”. The final artist that I looked at was Daisuke Takakura his work involved creating clones. All of these artists contributed to my final design ideas some more than others. Daisuke Takakuras theme of clones gave me the inspiration for the poster focusing on depression. Bairon Rivera’s style was incorporated into my design for anxiety also I used the dark shades that he uses across all my ideas. From Rivera and Pratama who’s work are very similar I managed to make the two images interact and work together with something simple as reaching out with a hand. This makes the images intertwine together and not look like just two images placed together instead it made the images transform into one. I am happy with the way certain posters went more than others. I feel that the colours and tones I chose to use work well against each other. Especially how I managed to make it a lighter tone around the main image which made it clear what the main focus of the poster is, and made it fade out darker towards the edges. I also feel the size of text that I chose and positioning worked well because it almost blended into the poster worked and did not stand out and look segregated or just placed on top of the poster. I used a sans serif font because it flows better for headings because it looks uncluttered. However I feel that my weakest poster is the poster on psychotic disorders. I think this because the images do not “blend” together and look to segregated. To fix this I would take the images that I used in that particular poster again and use a different lighting when taking the images which would make the quality of the images better. I would also add a different texture onto this poster as I think the one I used in the end did not work well with the poster and made it to dark which meant there was not a “main focus” of that poster. I also believe that it does not present what the poster is raising awareness for. Although all the posters apart from poster 4 has a similar style which I was aiming for, throughout which makes it clear that they are all focusing on the same theme of mental illness awareness. But I feel I could have been more adventurous with the design ideas of my posters as it is a little too simple. The client on my poster is teenagers and young adults and the purpose for it is to raise awareness on mental illness and getting people to find out information. This is shown because I have added a small question on the bottom of the poster followed by a possible answer then a website that I made up for information. I also have added a quote on the top of the poster which is being thought/said by the person in the poster. By asking a question

after this quote/saying at the bottom of the posters make the client/audience think about if it applies to them for example on the top of the low self-esteem I used “Is this what everybody sees?” I have then added the question “would you use these words to describe yourself?” by adding this question it makes the viewer think would I?. I have then added a possible answer of yes and the website afterwards. By doing this I have made the viewer think about going and visit the website to find out information by making the language I used personal creates this. My posters are aimed at teenagers and young adults. I have shown this by using language that is understandable and clear by teenagers and young adults but is not too difficult to understand. I also have used teenagers/young adults in the images to make it relatable and clear that my audience is that age group. If I had more time on this project I would develop my ideas by adding more detail and making the designs more creative. I would also do more experimentation with m If I had more time on this project I would develop my ideas by adding more detail and making the designs more creative. I would also do more experimentation with my work which would have an effect on my final idea designs.
