MOSCADA LISBOA
ALFAMA The medieval district of Alfama is a labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets that wind their way up a steep hill overlooking the River Tagus and it still feels like stepping back in time, as it was one of the few surviving areas of the 1755 earthquake. Once the Moorish and Jewish quarter before it became a fishing community, this is Lisbon at its most picturesque and the very soul of the city. Our Alfama model is dedicated to its dazzling tilework, the laundry out to dry from balconies, magnificent views of the river, and the sounds of Fado coming out of a restaurant.
MONSANTO The Monsanto Forest Park, the largest green space in Lisbon, was laid out in the 1930s, with the goal of regenerating a previously devastated region by intensive agricultural activities. Nowadays, it’s an ideal opportunity for outdoor leisure activities and a close contact to nature, with stunning panoramic views to the city, the Tagus River, and to the Atlantic Ocean. The Monsanto model praises its natural patrimony and its magical environment.
MADRAGOA The Madragoa neighborhood was always been lively and multicultural, a place of intersects between the people who worked the fields and the fishermen’s families. Nowadays it keeps the same spirit, sounds and richness, and our Madragoa couldn't help keeping away from that exotic and far away charm.
CHIADO Lisbon's most elegant and trendy neighborhood is where everyone meets for coffee, shopping, or before dinner and a night out. Mostly renovated by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira after its destruction by a devastating fire in 1988, it kept its "Belle Époque" essence, when writers such as Fernando Pessoa and Eça de Queiroz used to write and meet at its cafés. Our Chiado model toasts to that neighbourhood of theaters, charming old bookshops, and its lively cosmopolitan ambience at any time of the day.
BELÉM The maritime calling passed on to our Belém model - it was from its riverfront that Vasco da Gama and other explorers departed for their voyages. Imposing monuments celebrate those times, like the Tower of Belém and the Jerónimos Monastery, adorned with motifs from exotic lands, coral, sea monsters, and ropes elaborately carved in stone.
BI CA One of the most typical icons in Lisbon, the Bica funicular, climbs Rua da Bica for some 200 metres, and the sights presented along are fascinating, with the amazing views of the Tagus river and dockyard. With its pulsating nightlife, Bica inspired this colorful and trendy model.
LAPA For 300 years, Lapa was a favorite summer holiday destination for the English aristocracy. This beautiful model catches the atmosphere of that bygone, elegant age is to be found in the streets and squares where there are some magnificent examples of various architectural styles.
