Junior Engineers Students in the Junior Engineers camp will practice electronic circuitry, engineering, and collaboration working with STEM technologies such as littleBits and Snap Circuits. littleBits is an award winning platform of easy-to-use electronic building blocks that empowers students to invent anything. The Bits snap together with magnets, no soldering, no wiring, no programming needed. Snap Circuits makes learning electronics easy and fun! All parts are mounted on plastic modules and snap together with ease. Students will work on a variety of projects that include sensors, motors, sound, and light. No previous experience necessary. At the conclusion of the session, each student will receive their own Snap Circuits Kit. These kits will allow students to build over 100 different real electronic circuit projects or whatever their imagination can come up with. Kits contain items such as snap wires, switches, an alarms circuit, and a speaker which snap together easily on the included plastic grid—no soldering required. The projects include a sound-activated switch, a musical doorbell, a voice-controlled lamp, a flying saucer, and a light police siren. (Actual Kit subject to change.) Why STEM? “In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledgebased economy. To succeed in this new information-based and

Chez Innovation This 9-day overnight camp is a crash-course in entrepreneurship focused on the food industry in RI, and daily site visits give campers a behind-the-scenes look at every step in the food production chain–from the barnyard to the board room. With daily journaling, coursework, and coaching, students will synthesize what they learn in real time to create their own business proposals, which they will pitch to a panel of industry leaders at the end of the week. Campers stay at Roosevelt International Academy, an academic boarding program overlooking India Point Park. Evenings involve a mix of fun activities and hard work as kids prepare to dazzle the judges. Students may apply online by submitting their best answers to essay questions at www.chezinnovation.org. Moses Brown School
Founded in 1784, the historic Moses Brown School is known for nurturing the unique talents and attributes of children, urging them on toward new levels of selfdiscovery and achievement, and always insisting on a rigorous commitment to integrity. The school honors and upholds Quaker practices and values, while also embracing students of every faith and background. Families are encouraged to learn more about the school by visiting www.mosesbrown.org or www.facebook. com/mosesbrownschool. Located in the center of Providence, Moses Brown’s 33 acre campus is a lush and green oasis. Children enjoy the use of all facilities, including the state-of-the-art artificial turf field, soccer field, softball diamond, woodshop, ceramic studio, computer labs, and performance halls.
Moses Brown School has offered rewarding and exciting summer programs for more than 50 years. Moses Brown is a Quaker school, and many of the traditions and values that are a part of the Friends’ philosophy find expression in our camps. All camp programs work with the basic belief that everyone matters and has something to offer, silence matters, and truth matters. Reflection and consensus are important, simplicity is valued, differences and diversity are celebrated. Our campers hail from a variety of places, with the majority coming from surrounding MB communities in Rhode Island and Southeastern New England. We also have welcomed campers from across the country, and from as far away as Austria, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, and Venezuela.
