Performing Arts Program
At Moses Brown we emphasize artistic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, and student leadership. We help to cultivate individual artistic expression and identities as well as collaborative, inclusive, and empathetic communities of artists. The Performing Arts programs at MB provide a variety of entry points for students to engage and participate in diverse forms of music, theater, and dance. With seven major theatrical productions, 16 instrumental and choral ensembles, and a robust curriculum in all divisions, students have countless opportunties to perform during the year. Performances are held in the Woodman Family Community & Performance Center. This state-of-the-art facility can seat up to 500 with dedicated scene and costume shops, green room, professional sound and lighting capabilities, and can be completely reconfigured to fit any performance needs.

Theatre Season 2019-2020:
Creation - Adaptation - Revelation Each play in our theatrical season explores the themes of artistic creation, adaptation, and revelation. In addition to our Winter NEW PLAY series and student-written spring musical, the characters in our fall MBinRep stage adaptations and lower and middle school musicals create their own poetry/prose as a way to heal and understand the world, they adapt to new and frightening circumstances and they challenge the status quo by assuming a new role or revealing their own truths and secret identities.
MBinRep: Shakespeare in Love and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Winter Plays: New Works Festival: New short plays and a musical created by MB community members.
Lower School Musical: Disney’s Frozen, Kids
Upper School Musical Reaching Glory A premiere of an original studentwritten musical, featuring the music of Lady Gaga.
Middle School Musical: Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.
