Better recycling

Mosman’s popular Middle Head Oval had a major refurbishment over the summer. The upgrade included relevelling the playing surface, soil remediation works, installation of natural turf and a new irrigation system. The project involved laying 14,000 square metres of new turf and 328 tonnes of top soil, and has the grounds in excellent condition for the autumn and winter sports seasons.

Vote for your favourite design In recent years Council has released a suite of materials including bin stickers and wall signs for bin rooms to assist residents in sorting their rubbish and to help reduce contamination in recycling bins. To measure how effective this has been a few areas will be randomly selected and audited over the next few months. New bin tags will be left on bins to help householders identify which items to put in the various recycling bins. If you would like further information on this project or free bin room signage please contact Council on 9978 4000.

In partnership with the NSW Police, Council has started a major three-year program to improve pedestrian safety around local schools. The project involves rangers and police in a comprehensive education and enforcement campaign that aims to improve road safety for younger children, and increase parents’ and children’s knowledge of safe driving and pedestrian practices. The program was launched at Middle Harbour Public School in February and over the next few years Council will work with other schools in the area to tailor the program to their particular location, rolling it out at every school in Mosman.
