Special Forces Memorial - St Athan Working under the very strict security within the St Athan Military base in South Wales, this dignified and beautiful all polished black granite monument to the Officers and Men of the Special Forces Support Group was created. The 6m tall obelisk with flanking matching granite headstones recording the roll call of the fallen, was set within a paved memorial garden in a central position within the camp grounds.

Aberfan Disaster Memorials The original Portland and Nabresina Stone memorials erected in Aberfan Cemetery for the majority of the victims shortly after disaster had begun to deteriorate. In 2007 the Aberfan Memorial Charity decided to replace and upgrade all of the memorials and archways and refurbish the Memorial Garden area.

Cardiff Empire Pool Commissioned to design and build of new wall to mount the original Wales Empire Pool plaques on the site of the new International Pool in Cardiff Bay. The original plaques were removed when the Empire Pool was demolished to make way for the building of the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The project involved the design and build of a wall to mount the Empire plaques behind toughened safety glass. The plaques were finished with a surround of Welsh slate cladding, inscribed to commemorate the reinstatement of the original plaques at their new home of Welsh swimming.

First Minister of Wales Plaques Contracted by Powell Office Furniture to carve and fit large Welsh Slate circular plaques and smaller Portland Stone circular plaques for the Welsh Assembly Government within Press Conference areas.

Aberfan Disaster Cladding Following the restoration and replacement of the original Aberfan Disaster Memorials within Aberfan Cemetery with new Pearl White Granite replicas, the existing Enclosed Memorial Garden which links directly with cemetery memorials, required significant restoration due to the extensive deterioration of the original Portland Stone used. The whole area was clad using matching polished Pearl White granite with light grey granite capping stones to provide a dignified and uplifting garden area for quiet contemplation and reflection to honour those who so tragically lost their lives in the Aberfan Disaster of 1966.

Tata Steel Following a devastating fire at Llanwern steel works we were commissioned to produce six granite ‘skids’ which are used as an integral part of the steel production process. Work started with just 48 hours notice and around the clock over the Christmas period. We were able to source material and carve these uniquely shaped, large sections of granite and install them in time to ensure the rebuild program could be met and vital steel production resumed.

Dinas Powys War Memorial The extensive work, commissioned by Dinas Powys Community Council with assistance from War Memorials Trust and the Vale of Glamorgan Council, included extensive, professional cleaning utilising a range of specialist stone cleaning techniques including the DOFF system, removing decades of dirt, biological growths and carbon deposits. Complete re-pointing of all joints using natural hydraulic lime mortar was carried out together with the cleaning, restoration and protection of the original copper-bronze cast inscription plaques.

John Cory Monument Careful restoration cleaning was required to remove graffiti and many years of city grime from this listed monument situated in the beautiful park lands in front of the Cardiff City Hall and Welsh Museum. The Portland Stone masonry needed delicate craft restoration to re-energise the beautiful carvings and the eroding original inscription.

Queen’s Dragoon Guards Memorial The memorial was constructed from a three ton Welsh Slate boulder sourced and transported from North Wales. The boulder was prepared, inscribed and inlayed with enamels by our skilled masons before being installed at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire. The three emblems represent The 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG), 1st King’s Dragoon Guards (KDG) and The Queen’s Bays.

EADS Defence & Security A combined group project utilising Morgan Signs corporate signage design and construction of a large freestanding entrance sign with halo LED illuminated lettering together with Architectural Stone’s blue pearl granite clad plinth. The sign won a design award at the UK Sign Industry Awards.

Blaenavon War Memorial Clock In recent years the Blaenavon Clock Tower memorial had fallen into a poor state of repair. Specialist restoration cleaning of the Portland Stone masonry together with re-pointing with natural lime mortar and the removal of copperbronze staining with specialist poultices restored the tower to its former glory. The repair and modernising of the internal clock workings together with the restoration of the four clock faces which included re-gilding of the clock dials using 23 他 English gold leaf means that the clock and the tower once again stands as the proud monument it originally was.

Our Lady & St Patrick, Maesteg When the main detailed carved stone canopy over the central altar suddenly collapsed and fell over 5m crashing to the floor, smashing into hundreds of pieces, Mossfords were commissioned to undertake the painstaking repair and restoration of this historically important clerical artefact. When it was ready for reinstating, the rest of the main altar as well as the two smaller side altars were also fully renovated and restored to their original glory. Years of paint, grime, carbon deposits and debris were carefully removed to reveal the original beautiful sandstone and inlaid polished marbles and granites.

Thornhill Crematorium Drawing upon the group core skills of design, stone masonry and signage we were commissioned to create a stunning, dignified and poignant entrance to Cardiff’s main Cemetery and Crematorium. The design utilizes “echelon� layered natural Welsh Slate together with interesting railings and gate design incorporating the latest digital sign technology to inform cemetery users of funeral times and directing them to the correct chapel. This interesting project combines our skills as leading craftsmen in traditional stone masonry and sign makers at the cutting edge of technology.

Wood Street Cemetery, Walsall Memorial safety work was completed on over 100 large monuments and memorials at this old cemetery which was being converted into a public park area as part of a Council Regeneration Scheme. Public safety was therefore of paramount importance and the project was fully risk assessed and detailed designs and method statements produced for reconstruction of the monuments.

Cardiff City Football Club Morgan Signs was chosen as preferred supplier to Cardiff City Football Club for the rebranding of Cardiff Stadium. The wide range of signage supplied included large built up internally illuminated LED colour changing stadium letters, large flex faced signs with the club’s new crest, an electronic message display above the club’s superstore and a wide range of other internal directional and promotional signage.

BBC Roath Lock Studios Morgan Signs provided the new Internally LED illuminated built up logo and lettering signage for BBC Cymru Wales’ Roath Lock studios as part of an internal and external signage scheme. The BBC’s drama village can now be easily identified by its 5ft high landmark signage across Cardiff Bay.

Ebbw Fach Trail Installation of thirteen trail markers comprising of Pennant Stone monoliths, walling, cobble stones and corten steel signs, to form trail markers along the Ebbw Fach trail footpath.

Greenwood & Brown Architectural Stone & Morgan Signs delivered a joint group project for S.A.Brain & Co’s new Cardiff steak house, Greenwood & Brown. The signage consisted of traditional Victorian awnings with a hand painted G&B logo, polished brass illuminated menu cases and a chalk ‘A’ board pavement signs. Architectural Stone produced polished marble table and bar tops throughout the restaurant and the whole project was delivered to an incredibly tight timetable.

Wales Millennium Centre Digital signage systems complement Morgan Signs’ broad product portfolio of advertising signage and graphic display systems. Morgan Signs completed the installation of a 24 screen video wall for the prestigious Wales Millennium Centre, Wales’ art centre situated in Cardiff Bay. The stunning video wall replaced the centre’s outdated rear projection systems and brings a new lease of life to the front of house lobby.

Coffee #1 Morgan Signs are the preferred partner of S.A.Brain & Co to deliver signage and graphics for the planned expansion of their coffee house chain, Coffee#1 from 20 to 50 stores in one and a half years. The rapid expansion program requires expert project management and planning of multiple stores as the program continuously moves forward. Morgan Signs supply ethically sourced, and wherever possible, recycled materials to fall inline with Coffee#1’s environmental and ethical credentials.

Llanharan War Memorial Restoration This Portland Stone War memorial (circa 1925) had been badly weathered and deteriorated. The Portland Stone had been eroded and the inscribed faces perished in many areas. Careful restoration and repair work sympathetically restored the monument to its former glory and an on-going maintenance contract helps slow the ravages of time, pollution and weather to ensure that the life of this beautifully carved monument is prolonged for many years to come.

Cwmbran War Memorial Restoration This Portland Stone Cross and base with a Welsh Slate inscription plaque are set tastefully within a Pennant stone walled and paved area and stands as a monument to those from the Cwmbran area who lost their lives in wars and conflicts from World War 1. Cast copper-bronze plaques inset to the Pennant stone walling had oxidized, weathered and been vandalised. A new matching Welsh Slate plaque was supplied and dedicated to those who have lost their lives in more recent conflicts.

Pontnewydd War Memorial This light grey granite monument set to Forest of Dean stone plinth steps was erected in memory men of the Pontnewydd area who lost their lives in the two World Wars. It was in need of careful cleaning and restoration. The Forest of Dean plinth needed re-setting and repair. The raised lead inscriptions also needed to be restored to ensure they remained legible for future generations to appreciate. A new inscription to those who have lost their lives in subsequent conflicts was also engraved by our skilled craftsmen on site sympathetically in keeping with the original design.

Panteg War Memorial Restoration This light grey granite monument to the men of the Panteg region who lost their lives in the two World Wars was in need of careful cleaning and restoration. The Forest of Dean plinth upon which it stands needed re-setting and securing as well as extensive restoration and repair. The raised lead inscriptions also needed to be restored to ensure they remained legible for future generations to appreciate.

Aberkenfig Bell Cott The original Bath Stone Bell Cott on this church had perished and weathered which rendered the peeling of the bell potentially dangerous. A new Bell Cott was replicated exactly in matching original material and the bell re-housed after restoration to once again allow the bell to be tolled.
