Neighbourhood Library

cyuw_kvjv

Poothishala is a neighborhood library build with the spirit and inspiration from our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. As his spirit was reflected by his rebel and inspirational poems, he encouraged struggle to achieve the goal. Rather than an inviting ambience, the front facade represents a barrier between the knowledge and the user. Once someone struggles to break through the barrier. The library is open, transparent and blends with the river representing there is no limit to seek knowledge and to know yourself more, just like Nazrul saidAvwg Dš§v`, Avwg Dš§v`!! Fashion Institute

The form is inspired by its functions and site’s context. Fashion is always about creating new, creative, flowing along the context. The form took its dynamic, organic and functionally arranged character representing the contemporary-day Fashion and its ambition. Landscaping on the riverbank side creates a bonding between the site’s natural context and the architecture, which also creates a space for multi social activities.

Commercial Highrise

63 Skyscape

The ‘63 Skyscape’ is a commercial highrise building more focused on providing commercial spaces for corporates. Since it does not serve any social purpose but occupies a huge amount of footprint in the city, the podium is designed in a way where people can use it as a marketplace as well as social activity. Where the tower ensures the security access, the podium is open to all for gathering or as a marketplace. The ground floor is kept empty to create flexibility, it can be used as a social gathering or can be a fair or rentable for temporary and portable vendors. Together with the tower and podium, it creates landmarks to the city.

The Essence of Change

Human life is full of changes. Every time and in every aspect, we have to face changes. Most of us don’t like changes but it is the change that gives life a flavor. We represented the beauty of change through our installation. Change can be beautiful but it is never easy. The installation reflects that essence of change. While moving through the installation, you have to bend slightly down to allow yourself to walk through. The change will curve you into a new you. Moreover, when you successfully pass through the tunnel and look back you got to see that you have created an ambience through change.

City Branding

The installation is a sense of escape from the mechanical life of the city. Constructed with vernacular material such as bamboo , jute sticks. The structure and form strongly depicts the rural nature of Gram-Bangla. With its canopy, the assembly creates a sense of enclosure and has multiple gateways to enter through and wonder about freely. As the sunlight filters through the structure or as the lanterns illuminate the canopy from inside at night, patterns of light and shadow are cast upon the earthen floor. The installation creates a blissful escape from the concrete jungle and provides its visitors with a piece of rural experience. Five members from the Team-NSU designed and constructed the installation which took place at Radisson Blu, Water garden Hotel Dhaka. Sponsored by

The City Lungs Indira Gandhi International Airport

For Centuries the infrastructure has been designed and built according to the needs of its user. As a result the growing urbanization has left landscapes more in grey than the natural green belts. Airports are becoming one of the major integral parts of infrastructure which will lead the future transportation and communications, where it takes a noticeable footprint of the city. In search of sustainability, The purpose for the infrastructures is to behave and interact with the ecosystem, by not putting up resistance to the flow of nature but going on with it. The main objective of designing the Indira Gandhi International Airport is to combine the modern technology to create an efficient, sustainable, climate and time sensitive architecture. Where the architecture will contribute to restore and balance city’s eco diversity, not only adopting city’s season but also merging with the context. The airport is to be built underground which reduces heat gain as well as better and increased land use, inspired by the historical reference of Ajanta Temples. The building mass is arranged parallel to the runway and depressed open plaza where the smart tram carrying out the passengers, which will keep the airport operational when high passenger rate appears. Meanwhile the AI(Artificial Intelligence) based smart tram will carry out all the airport official formalities paperlessly, which will save time and also keeping the passenger movement smooth.
