First, she designs and sculpts each piece from an oil-based clay, then creates a mold from the original sculpture so that it can be slipcast into a hollow figure--perfect for banks. She then kiln fires the ceramic piece, paints it with glaze, and fires again. Paulette has a number of designs to choose from, and is also willing to do custom orders. In addition to the slipcast banks, she occasionally offers one-of-a-kind original sculptures.

How did Legacy Pottery Works begin? Legacy PotteryWorks, a branch of Legacy Ministries, Inc., was born out of God's call to use pottery skills to employ and encourage at-risk youth. The program began in early 2015, adopting the youth employment model of Legacy GardenWorks, another branch of Legacy Ministries.
Can you tell me a bit about the training process for the youth? The youth workers are given the opportunity to gain job skills and
production work experience that can transfer to other works settings. This is done simply by teaching them the craft of pottery one step at a time. In the six months that they are with us, work production hours are supplemented by in-house workshops on a variety of topics from opening a bank account to discovering personality types.
