MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Celebrating Sharjah’s leading role in Middle East aviation Sharjah has carefully preserved its aviation history at the Al Mahatta Museum, located near the emirate’s King Faisal Street, which also happens to be the old runway. This museum documents the history of aviation in

Sharjah and also displays some aircraft from that era. The country’s first aircraft landing took place on October 5, 1932, in Sharjah. The four-propeller Handley Page (HP42) biplane, under the banner

of Imperial Airways (a predecessor to British Airways) landed at the Al Mahatta runway. Famous people including England’s King Edward VIII, the millionaire and Woolworth’s heiress Barbara Hutton, and actor Gary Cooper also travelled on this route. Recently, Sharjah International Airport (SIA) designed a special programme featuring various events, to celebrate the history and evolution of aviation in Sharjah and the UAE. The highlight was an Auster plane that took to the skies of Sharjah, making three flights to the neighboring emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, and one trip over the emirate itself. u 9

SIA witnesses robust growth and demand Sharjah International Airport (SIA) saw healthy growth last year. Passenger traffic crossed 8.5 million which is 13.5 per cent more than the previous year. Aircraft movements increased by 0.41 per cent from the previous year, while cargo handling reached 295,402 tonnes.

PREFERRED CHOICE Passenger numbers are steadily growing at SIA. Air Arabia, the region’s first low cost airline which operates out of SIA, has been flying to more and more new destinations which were not previously 10

serviced by other airlines. At the same time, many new airlines have been attracted to the airport, due to its excellent infrastructure, services, and the most competitive rates in the region. Travellers are increasingly using SIA as their preferred choice for travel due to its close proximity to the other emirates; and the popular destinations they can fly to from this airport. SIA has also emerged as an important air cargo hub for many of the world’s major carriers. Strategically located, SIA is close to Sharjah city and within 20 minutes driving distance to Dubai and

the other northern emirates. SIA also provides access to the main ports of the Gulf with direct road links to both the seaports of Sharjah.

MassIvE ExPansIOn Plan With the Sharjah Government’s firm focus on travel and tourism industry and the promotion of cultural activities as well as further growth of commerce and industry in the emirate, SIA is poised to grow exponentially. In order to meet the increasing demand for its services, SIA is undertaking many expansion projects. In October 2014, the airport opened its Dh500 million second runway, which is a significant boost to its aircraft handling capability. The airport also recently launched a dedicated Executive Jet Terminal for private aircraft. Further studies for large scale expansion are currently ongoing and are expected to be announced soon. SIA continues its remarkable journey towards excellence on every front, while it serves as a growth engine for Sharjah and the region. u

A PIONEER IN AVIATION

From a small air strip to a world class aviation facility Sharjah made aviation history in 1932, when the first flight landed at the emirate’s Al Mahatta runway. Since then, Sharjah International Airport (SIA) has continually expanded to become a world class modern international airport. Under the wise leadership of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, and through a series of path breaking initiatives, the airport has become one of the leading aviation hubs in the MENA region. SIA also plays a significant role in the Sharjah economy and has been 12

instrumental in developing the emirate as a centre of trade and commerce. The airport has established a reputation for providing quality services and a competitive value proposition that has continued to attract a growing number of passengers, as well as airline and cargo shipment clients, each year. SIA works closely with specialised companies in every aspect of its operations, to ensure the highest level of service to its customers. INTO THE FUTURE Another milestone in the history of SIA was marked on October 22, 2014, when the airport’s new and second runway was inaugurated by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan

SIA opens a Dh500 million new runway capable of handling the world’s largest aircraft Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. On this memorable occasion, the Ruler’s aircraft took off and landed on the new runway to mark its first use. Built over two years at a cost of Dh500 million, the length of the new runway is just over 4km and width 60m. It is capable of handling new generations of aircraft (Code F) as well as the world’s largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, Boeing 747-800 and giant freighters like AN124 and AN225. Additionally, eight new link taxiways and two high-speed runway exits have been constructed as part of this project to enhance connectivity between the runway, passenger terminal and cargo operation.

ACCOLADES For its ground breaking initiatives and innovative strategies, SIA won the Best Airport Cargo award at the Emerging Markets Airports Awards 2010 at the Airport Show in Dubai, and the Sea Air Cargo Airport 2010 award given by the Stat Times International Awards for Excellence in Air Cargo in Mumbai. It is also a proud recipient of the Best Global Airport Award in 2005 from the Institute of Transport Management, a respected authority on the transport and logistics industries. In 1999, Institute of Transport Management awarded the Global Air Cargo Airport 1999 to SIA for Outstanding Contribution to the Transport Industry. These accolades are a testament to the airport’s high standards of service and commitment to excellence. u

Sharjah International Airport has achieved the Airport Carbon Accreditation from Airport Council International, making it the second such certified airport in the region.

WELL GROUNDED With more than 1,500 highly competent staff and more than 600 specialised vehicles and equipment, the Sharjah Aviation Services (SAS) operations team faces the task of handling more than 8.5 million passengers and 295,000 tons of freight for more than 100 airline customers. SAS is a joint venture ground handling company owned by the Sharjah Airport Authority and Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first lowcost airline, providing a full range of passenger, ramp and cargo handling services for airlines and their clients at Sharjah International Airport (SIA). SAS has a reputation for efficient and high standards of service. The department has an admirable on-time performance record – that is, flights to and from the airport arrive and leave on schedule 98 per cent of the time, surpassing the industry average of 82 per cent. SAS offers clients the most competitive handling rates in the region.

RELIABLE AND CUSTOMISED SERVICES SAS offers its clients a comprehensive standard range of ground handling 14

services, which can be also be customised to the client’s specific operational requirements and augmented with additional requests and services. The high quality of service is supported by the fastest turnaround and shortest connecting times in the region for both passengers and cargo. No matter how big, small or specific the requirement – from transporting perishable or hazardous goods to vulnerable cargo such as equine or marine life, from warehousing to track and trace – SAS has got it covered. In fact, the cargo operation at SIA has facilities for every imaginable product. Last year, SAS welcomed eight new airlines to SIA consolidating the airport’s reputation as a leading regional cargo hub and proved its ability to be one of the best passenger hubs.

FACILITIES UPGRADE SAS has upgraded its facilities with Level Three baggage screening avoiding the congestion at the entrance of long standing passenger queues. New weighing machines have also been installed

so that passengers can ensure they are not carrying excess baggage before opting for the traditional or self - check-in process. SAS now has a dedicated check in facility for all premium passengers. In order to cater to the increasing passenger volumes at SIA, 20 additional check-in counters have been installed at the airport.

COMFORT AND SAFETY SAS is committed to ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers with a range of services, including a dedicated Hala welcome service. The new “pay-as-you-go” airport lounge scheme provides passengers with 24/7 access to complimentary hot and cold food and drinks, shower facilities, free Wi-Fi and internet access at a nominal price.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY SAS embraced a ‘Go Green’ environment programme aimed at reducing carbon emissions and conservation responsibilities as a central part of its business strategy. In line with this, the company implemented a series of programmes targeted at reducing the negative impact of operations on the environment. u

In such cases, it issues an airport pass to a family member, allowing them to accompany the passenger right up to the check-in counter. The pass can be applied for – at a 18

Meet and greet Hall The arrivals terminal has a dedicated ‘Meet and Greet’ hall for the comfort of guests awaiting the arrival of their loved ones. A floor to ceiling glass curtain allows you to see arriving passengers. The hall also comprises restaurants, ATM, a florist and a convenience shop.

Porters SIA offers convenient porterage services to all passengers for a nominal fee. In the departures hall, the porter desk is located kerbside, just outside the entrance.

THE HEART OF SIA SIA operates 365 days 24/7 providing a pleasant, safe and efficient experience to thousands of passengers. Below, we explore some of the teams who work tirelessly to ensure the airport runs smoothly.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL Air Traffic Control forms one of the most critical elements of the aviation sector. A team of highly experienced Air Traffic Controllers at the Department ensures that Sharjah’s 100 square-mile airspace is closely monitored. With thousands of aircraft movements each year and SIA under a massive expansion plan, the Air Traffic Control Department can look forward to another busy year.

SHARJAH METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE The Sharjah Meteorological Office has been providing aviation weather forecasting and other related services since 1933 – making it the oldest and most reliable meteorological office in the region. The Met Office is operated by a team of dedicated professionals who are certified and highly competent meteorological experts. Weather forecasting is one of the key components of airport safety. The Met Office plays a vital role by providing up-to-theminute weather forecasts and facilitates the smooth landing and take-off of hundreds of aircrafts every day. The Met Office 22

also provides national weather information to the Global Climate Observation Programme, of the World Meteorological Organisation.

ENGINEERING AND MAINTENANCE The Engineering and Development Department is in charge of keeping SIA’s facilities smooth and efficient. The department comprises two divisions – the Facilities Management Section and the Projects and Development Section. The Facilities Management team ensures that the facilities and structures at SIA are not only well maintained, but also on a par with the strict standards set by the General Civil Aviation Authority. Its scope includes maintenance of airfield lighting, electrical, air-conditioning, aeronautical and civil works. RECENT HISTORY In the early 18th century, the emirate, was a strong marine power. The city flourished with the help of coastal trading and pearling. Fast forward to1932 and aviation history was made with Imperial Airways flights 34

departing from England to India and vice versa. On December 2, 1971, Sharjah became part of the UAE as a founder member. In 1972, H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi succeeded as the Ruler. In the same year, oil was discovered in the emirate.

CITY OF MUSEUMS Sharjah has many museums and heritage sites dedicated to preserving its rich

history as well as showcasing contemporary art and sciences. The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation is housed in a striking building, which is one of the jewels of Islamic Architecture. It has several galleries showcasing the contribution of Islamic civilisation. The museum also organises special exhibitions such as the ‘Early Capitals of Islamic Culture - The Artistic Legacy of Umayyad Damascus and Abbasid Baghdad (650–950)’ which runs up until January 2015. CITY OF KNOWLEDGE With its University City and numerous scientific research facilities, libraries and archaeological centers, Sharjah is a magnet for researchers, art, culture and science buffs. The University City houses the prestigious American University of Sharjah, Sharjah University, the Higher Colleges of Technology, the Sharjah Institute of Technology, Sharjah Police Academy and Skyline University.

REST aND RECREaTION Sharjah has plenty of fun filled options for outdoor recreation. The latest is the Al Montazah Amusement and Waterpark which covers 126,000sq m. The Al Majaz Waterfront Park overlooks the serene Khalid Lagoon with amenities that include restaurants, cafés, play areas, entertainment and cultural areas, a mosque, jogging and bike tracks and a sculpture park. Al Qasba is another landmark, featuring a manmade canal and a large observation wheel.

‫من املطاعم واملقاهي ومناطق ترفيهية وتثقيفية‬ ‫باملارة‪ ،‬حيث تنطلق خالل مهرجان رم�شان ال�شارقة ال�شد اخل�شبية امل�شتخدمة يف رفع وخف�ض الأ�شرعة‪،‬‬ ‫لالأطفال‪ ،‬وم�شجد ًا يطل على واجهة مائية اإ�شافة‬ ‫وعرو�ض عن الطرق التقليدية يف �شيد الأ�شماك‪.‬‬ ‫ال�شنوي فعاليات �شائقة عدة‪.‬‬ ‫وي�شم متحف ال�شارقة لل�شيارات القدمية اأكرث من اإىل م�شارات للدراجات الهوائية وحديقة لالأ�شغال‬ ‫‪� 100‬شيارة التي مت ا�شتخدامها اأوائل القرن املا�شي‪ ،‬اليدوية‪ .‬كما ت�شكل قناة الق�شباء وجهة اأخرى‬ ‫مدينة المتاحف‬ ‫بني الفرتة من عام ‪ 1917‬حتى �شتينات القرن املا�شي‪ .‬للرتفيه‪ ،‬حيث ت�شم القناة ال�شناعية عجلة «عني‬ ‫تزخر اإمارة ال�شارقة بالعديد من املتاحف التي توؤرخ‬ ‫الإمارات» اإحدى كربى العجالت يف املنطقة‪.‬‬ ‫وهناك العديد من املتاحف التي ت�شتحق زيارتها‬ ‫ما�شي الإمارة العريق‪ ،‬اإىل جانب املعامل الرتاثية‬ ‫ومتتاز ال�شارقة ب�شواطئها الذهبية‪ ،‬فهناك �شواطئ‬ ‫ال�شائقة التي تعبق باحل�شارة والفنون املعا�شرة ومن مثل متحف ال�شارقة العلمي‪ ،‬ومتحف ال�شارقة لالآثار‪،‬‬ ‫اخلان واملمزر وكورني�ض ال�شارقة التي ترتادها‬ ‫ومتحف ال�شارقة للفنون‪ ،‬ومتحف ال�شارقة للرتاث‪،‬‬ ‫هذه املتاحف‪ ،‬متحف ال�شارقة للح�شارة الإ�شالمية‬ ‫العائالت لق�شاء وقت ممتع بعيد ًا عن م�شاغل احلياة‪.‬‬ ‫ومركز ال�شارقة لال�شتك�شاف‪ ،‬ومربى ال�شارقة‬ ‫مببناه اخلالب‪ ،‬الذي يعد جوهرة الفن العمراين‬ ‫كما تفخر ال�شارقة باأ�شواقها التقليدية الزاخرة‬ ‫الإ�شالمي الأ�شيل‪ ،‬حيث ي�شم املتحف �شالت عر�ض لالأحياء البحرية‪.‬‬ ‫باملنتجات‪ .‬فال�شوق املركزي الذي يطل على بحرية‬ ‫تظهر اإ�شهامات الثقافة الإ�شالمية يف الفن والعلوم‪،‬‬ ‫خالد مببانيه ال�شتة امل�شقوفة‪ ،‬ي�شم اأكرث من ‪600‬‬ ‫مدينة المعرفة‬ ‫هذا اإىل جانب عر�شه للعديد من الأعمال الفنية‬ ‫ت�شتقطب مرافق البحث العلمي واملكتبات ومراكز‬ ‫متجر تعر�ض جميع اأنواع الب�شائع من اإلكرتونيات‬ ‫والعمالت القدمية والأدوات والأ�شلحة التقليدية‪.‬‬ ‫ال�شتك�شاف يف ال�شارقة‪ ،‬عدد ًا كبري ًا من الباحثني‬ ‫ومالب�ض وجموهرات وحلي وال�شجاد املطرز والأو�شحة‬ ‫وينظم املتحف العديد من املعار�ض اخلا�شة مثل‬ ‫اإىل جانب هواة الفن والثقافة والعلوم‪ .‬وت�شم املدينة وغريها من امل�شنوعات اليدوية‪.‬‬ ‫املعر�ض احلايل «معر�ض عوا�شم الثقافة الإ�شالمية‬ ‫الأوىل‪ :‬الإرث الفني لدم�شق الأموية وبغداد العبا�شية اجلامعية يف ال�شارقة املمتدة على م�شاحة ‪ 375‬هكتار ًا‬ ‫مركز تجاري وصناعي‬ ‫�شل�شلة من املرافق التي تعك�ض الفن املعماري يف‬ ‫(‪ 340 – 30‬هـ)» الذي �شي�شتمر لغاية يناير ‪.2015‬‬ ‫تعد ال�شارقة قلب الدولة الناب�ض بال�شناعة‪ ،‬حيث‬ ‫الإمارة‪ ،‬حيث ت�شم اجلامعة الأمريكية يف ال�شارقة‬ ‫ويعد متحف ال�شارقة للخط الوحيد يف العامل‬ ‫ت�شغل ‪ %40‬من اإجمايل الناجت املحلي لدولة الإمارات‬ ‫التي تعد اأبرز جامعة يف الإمارة‪ ،‬وجامعة ال�شارقة‬ ‫العربي الذي يخت�ض بفنون اخلط العربي ور�شم‬ ‫العربية املتحدة‪ .‬فموقعها املميز وموانئها املطلة على‬ ‫وكليات التقنية العليا‪ ،‬ومعهد ال�شارقة للتكنولوجيا‬ ‫اخلطوط وجماليات الأحرف يف ر�شومات مبتكرة‪.‬‬ ‫اخلليج العربي واملحيط الهندي جتعل منها مركز ًا‬ ‫واأكادميية �شرطة ال�شارقة وجامعة الأفق‪.‬‬ ‫ويوثق متحف املحطة يف ال�شارقة الذي افتتح‬ ‫مهم ًا للعمليات اللوج�شتية والنقل البحري واجلوي‪.‬‬ ‫لإعادة اإحياء ذكرى اأول مطار عرفته دولة الإمارات‬ ‫كما يلعب كل من املنطقة احلرة مبطار ال�شارقة‬ ‫متعة واسترخاء‬ ‫العربية املتحدة‪ ،‬تاريخ قطاع الطريان يف ال�شارقة‬ ‫تتمتع ال�شارقة مبرافق ترفيهية �شتى ت�شتقطب ال�شياح الدويل ومطار ال�شارقة الدويل دور ًا مهم ًا يف اقت�شاد‬ ‫ويعر�ض بع�ض الطائرات من العقود املا�شية‪.‬‬ ‫وي�شتعر�ض متحف ال�شارقة البحري احلياة البحرية واملقيمني على الدوام‪ .‬ومن اأحدث تلك املرافق حديقة الإمارة وتطويرها‪ ،‬حيث مل تدخر حكومة ال�شارقة‬ ‫جهد ًا يف تطوير هذه املرافق التي جعلت من ال�شارقة‬ ‫التي كانت ت�شكل جزء ًا رئي�ش ًا من تراث املنطقة‪ ،‬حيث املنتزه‪ ،‬التي تعد اأول حديقة مائية يف ال�شارقة والتي‬ ‫تقبع على م�شاحة ‪ 126‬األف مرت مربع‪ .‬وت�شم احلديقة وجهة الأعمال التجارية الأوىل‪.‬‬ ‫ي�شم مراكب البوم التقليدية اخل�شبية التي كانت‬ ‫وت�شكل ال�شارقة بكل ما توفره من خدمات وو�شائل‬ ‫م�شطحات خ�شراء ومزلقانات واألعاب ًا مائية واأكواخ ًا‬ ‫ت�شتخدم لل�شيد والغو�ض على اللوؤل ؤو والتجارة‪ .‬كما‬ ‫ترفيه متنوعة‪ ،‬قطب ًا ثقافي ًا و�شياحي ًا وجتاري ًا يجذب‬ ‫ميكن للعائالت ا�شتئجارها‪ .‬وت�شم واجهة املجاز‬ ‫يعر�ض عينات من اللوؤلوؤ الطبيعي مت�شمنة �شرح ًا‬ ‫امل�شتثمرين وال�شياح‪u .‬‬ ‫املائية املطلة على بحرية خالد ال�شطناعية‪� ،‬شل�شلة‬ ‫وافي ًا عن نوعها وقيا�شها ووزنها‪ ،‬اإىل جانب بكرات‬ ‫‪29‬‬

‫تعبق اأرجاء اإمارة ال�سارقة‪ ،‬باأريج ال�سيافة العربية والإ�سالمية‬ ‫الذي �سيغمر قلوبكم‪.‬‬ ‫تبنت هذه املدينة اخلالبة النقو�ش الإ�سالمية يف‬ ‫مبانيها ال�ساهقة وجامعاتها العاملية ومتاحفها واآثارها‬ ‫وم�ساجدها الفريدة بعمارتها واأ�سواقها التي تعبق‬ ‫بعبري البهارات العربية والأ�سالة والرتاث‪.‬‬ ‫ولعل ما حققته ال�سارقة من اإجنازات كبرية‬ ‫لت�سبح بوابة للمعرفة ذات دور فعال يف تر�سيخ‬ ‫الثقافة على امتداد العامل العربي‪ ،‬جعل من ال�سارقة‬ ‫عا�سمة الثقافة الإ�سالمية لعام ‪.2014‬‬ ‫تاريخ مشرق‬ ‫يف بدايات القرن الثامن ع�سر‪� ،‬سكلت اإمارة ال�سارقة‬ ‫قوة بحرية كبرية‪ ،‬حيث كان التجار يتوافدون اإليها‬ ‫للح�سول على الأ�سماك واللوؤلوؤ‪ .‬ويف عام ‪،1983‬‬ ‫دخل قطاع الطريان التاريخ‪ ،‬وبداأ رحلته يف الإمارة‬ ‫عندما ا�ستقبلت طائرات «اإمبرييال اإيرويز» خالل‬ ‫رحالتها من بريطانيا اإىل الهند ويف طريق عودتها‬ ‫‪28‬‬

‫اإىل بريطانيا‪ .‬ويف ‪ 2‬دي�سمرب ‪ ،1971‬كانت ال�سارقة‬ ‫اإحدى الإمارات ال�سبع التي عقدت العزم على اإقامة‬ ‫احتاد الإمارات العربية املتحدة‪ .‬ويف عام ‪ 1972‬توىل‬ ‫�ساحب ال�سمو ال�سيخ الدكتور �سلطان بن حممد‬ ‫القا�سمي ع�سو املجل�ش الأعلى حاكم اإمارة ال�سارقة‪،‬‬ ‫مقاليد احلكم فيها‪ ،‬كما �سهدت الإمارة اآنذاك‬ ‫اكت�ساف الذهب الأ�سود فيها‪.‬‬ ‫نواة للثقافة‬ ‫رغم التطور احل�ساري والعمراين اللذين �سهدتهما‬ ‫اإمارة ال�سارقة‪ ،‬اإل اأنها عملت جاهد ًة للحفاظ على‬ ‫تراثها وتاريخها مع حر�سها على جماراة النه�سة‬ ‫احل�سرية‪ ،‬الأمر الذي اأ�سهم يف تاأ�سي�ش مدينة ت�سطع‬ ‫�سم�سها باألوان احلا�سر بينما يحمل ن�سيمها عبق‬ ‫املا�سي‪ .‬ويف عام ‪ ،1998‬توجت منظمة اليون�سكو‬ ‫اإمارة ال�سارقة بلقب «عا�سمة الثقافة العربية»‪.‬‬

‫وتنظم دائرة الثقافة والإعالم يف ال�سارقة‬ ‫منذ عام ‪ ،1982‬معر�ش الكتاب الدويل لإحياء‬ ‫الثقافة‪ ،‬الذي ميتد ‪ 10‬اأيام‪ .‬ويهدف معر�ش‬ ‫ال�سارقة الدويل للكتاب اإىل زيادة الوعي العام باأهمية‬ ‫القراءة وتوفري العديد من الكتب املحلية والعاملية‬ ‫باأ�سعار تناف�سية‪.‬‬ ‫ومن بني الإجنازات الثقافية الأبرز يف ال�سارقة‬ ‫م�سروع «ثقافة بال حدود» الذي ا�ستهدف اإن�ساء مكتبة‬ ‫يف كل بيت‪ .‬فقد مت وبتوجيهات من �ساحب ال�سمو‬ ‫حاكم ال�سارقة توزيع ‪ 50‬كتاب ًا لكل اأ�سرة مواطنة يف‬ ‫الإمارة يف اإطار هذا امل�سروع الفريد‪.‬‬ ‫ويعد مهرجان اأيام ال�سارقة امل�سرحية حدث ًا ثقافي ًا‬ ‫وم�سرحي ًا �سنوي ًا يهدف اإىل الرتقاء بالإنتاج امل�سرحي‬ ‫املحلي‪ ،‬حيث يتناف�ش الفنانون مع بع�سهم بع�ساً‪.‬‬ ‫كما تزدان مبان اإمارة ال�سارقة خالل مهرجان‬ ‫اأ�سواء ال�سارقة ال�سنوي‪ ،‬الذي يخطف الأب�سار‬ ‫بتدفق النور والأحلان امل�ساحبة له‪.‬‬ ‫ويغطي م�سرح املجاز الذي د�سن موؤخر ًا ويحمل‬ ‫الطابع الروماين‪ ،‬م�ساحة ‪ 7238‬مرت ًا مربع ًا وي�ستوعب‬ ‫‪� 4500‬سخ�ش‪ .‬وقد �سيد امل�سرح مبنا�سبة تتويج‬ ‫ال�سارقة بلقب عا�سمة الثقافة الإ�سالمية ‪،2014‬‬ ‫اإىل جانب ا�ست�سافة العديد من الفعاليات املزمع‬ ‫اإقامتها م�ستقبالً‪.‬‬ ‫ول�سهر رم�سان املبارك يف اإمارة ال�سارقة اإيقاع‬ ‫خمتلف‪ ،‬اإذ تعم املدينة اأجواء خا�سة من الروحانية‬ ‫والتقوى‪ ،‬وتلب�ش مظاهر الفرح وال�سرور بحلول ال�سهر‬ ‫الف�سيل‪ ،‬فتتزين �سوارعها بالأ�سواء طوال اأيام‬ ‫ال�سهر الف�سيل‪ ،‬وت�سهد ال�سارقة نب�س ًا مغاير ًا من‬ ‫احلياة‪ ،‬من امتالء امل�ساجد واأ�سوات التهليل والتكبري‬ ‫من ماآذنها‪ ،‬ون�ساط الأ�سواق‪ ،‬وازدحام ال�سوارع‬

‫قلب مطار الشارقة‬ ‫الدولي النابض‬ ‫يعمل مطار ال�سارقة الدويل على مدار ال�ساعة طوال‬ ‫اأيام ال�سنة بهدف توفري جتربة ممتعة واآمنة ملاليني‬ ‫امل�سافرين‪ .‬ويف ما يلي ملحة موجزة عن بع�ض اجلهات‬ ‫التي تعمل بجد وراء الكوالي�ض ل�سمان ا�ستمرار العمل‬ ‫يف املطار على اأكمل وجه وب�سال�سة‪.‬‬ ‫مراقبة الحركة الجوية‬ ‫تعد مراقبة احلركة اجلوية اأحد العنا�سر الأكرث‬ ‫اأهمية يف قطاع الطريان‪ ،‬لهذا يتوىل فريق من‬ ‫ذوي اخلربات واملوؤهالت العالية عملية مراقبة‬ ‫واإدارة عمليات احلركة اجلوية �سمن املجال اجلوي‬ ‫لإمارة ال�سارقة‪ ،‬الذي ميتد على م�سافة ‪ 100‬ميل‬ ‫مربع‪ ،‬طبق ًا لأرفع املعايري املهنية‪ ،‬ومبا ي�سهم يف‬ ‫احلفاظ على �سالمة حركة الطريان التي ت�سهد اآلف‬ ‫الطائرات يومياً‪ .‬وهذا ما دفع مطار ال�سارقة الدويل‬ ‫اإىل تبنى م�ساريع تطويرية �سنوي ًا ملجاراة هذه‬ ‫احلركة ال�سخمة‪ ،‬حيث من املتوقع اأن ت�سهد مهام‬ ‫وم�سوؤوليات اإدارة مراقبة احلركة اجلوية ازدياد ًا‬ ‫كبري ًا هذا العام‪.‬‬ ‫مكتب األرصاد الجوية بمطار الشارقة‬ ‫الدولي‬ ‫يوفر مكتب الأر�ساد اجلوية مبطار ال�سارقة الدويل‬ ‫منذ تاأ�سي�سه عام ‪،1933‬الذي يعد اأقدم مكتب‬ ‫لالأر�ساد اجلوية يف املنطقة والأكرث كفاءة‪ ،‬التنبوؤات‬ ‫اجلوية بحالة املناخ خلدمة قطاع الطريان والعديد‬ ‫من القطاعات الأخرى‪ ،‬وغريها من اخلدمات ذات‬ ‫ال�سلة‪ .‬وي�سم مكتب الأر�ساد اجلوية مبطار ال�سارقة‬

‫ت�سمل املواد التي يحظر مطار ال�سارقة الدويل على الركاب‬ ‫القادمني حملها معهم ما يلي‪:‬‬ ‫املوؤثرات العقلية‪.‬‬ ‫الأحياء الربية املهددة بالنقرا�س‪.‬‬ ‫الأ�سلحة النارية‪.‬‬ ‫املقالت واملن�سورات غري الأخالقية‪.‬‬ ‫الأطعمة البحرية ال�ساحلة لالأكل غري املطبوخة‪ ،‬والفواكه واخل�سراوات‬ ‫من املناطق املوبوءة بالكولريا‪.‬‬ ‫القيود‪ :‬يتعني احل�سول على ت�سريح من ال�سلطات املحلية لنقل‬ ‫الأ�سلحة النارية‪.‬‬

‫املاأكولت العاملية تنا�سب جميع الأذواق‪ .‬كما تتوافر‬ ‫املقاهي العاملية التي تقدم امل�سروبات والوجبات‬ ‫اخلفيفة على مدار ال�ساعة‪ .‬وت�سم ردهة‬ ‫املطاعم العديد من مطاعم الوجبات ال�سريعة‬ ‫واملقاهي الكربى مثل ماكدونالدز‪ ،‬كو�ستا كافيه‬ ‫ودانكن دونت�س‪.‬‬ ‫صاالت الدرجتين األولى‬ ‫ورجال األعمال‬ ‫يوفر املطار �سالت جمهزة باأحدث اخلدمات‬ ‫واملرافق وفق اأرقى املعايري العاملية للم�سافرين على‬ ‫الدرجتني الأوىل ورجال الأعمال‪ .‬وقد جهزت هذه‬ ‫ال�سالت مبختلف و�سائل الراحة اإىل جانب توفري‬ ‫خدمات الهاتف والفاك�س والإنرتنت‪ ،‬ف�س ًال عن‬ ‫خمتلف ال�سحف اليومية واأ�سهر املجالت‪ ،‬مع تقدمي‬ ‫املرطبات والوجبات اخلفيفة للركاب‪.‬‬ ‫خدمات هال‬ ‫تتوافر هذه اخلدمة على مدار ال�ساعة‪ ،‬وهـي‬ ‫م�سمم ــة خ�سي�س ـ ًا لتقديـم خدم ــات ال�ستقبـ ــال‬ ‫وامل�ساعــدة للركاب القادمني واملغادرين وفق ًا لأعلى‬ ‫معايري اجلودة‪ .‬كما تتوافر «خدمات هال» للركاب‬ ‫الذين يحتاجون مل�ساعدة خا�سة‪ ،‬مثل الأطفال‬ ‫امل�سافرين وحدهم وامل�سنني اأو ذوي الحتياجات‬ ‫اخلا�سة‪ .‬وت�ساعد هذه اخلدمة امل�سافرين على‬ ‫اإنهاء اإجراءات ال�سفر واجلوازات واجلمارك ب�سرعة‬ ‫و�سهولة وي�سر‪ .‬كما ت�ستمل «خدمات هال» الأخرى‬ ‫على الهدايا واملوا�سالت ب�سيارة مع �سائق‪.‬‬ ‫منطقة لعب األطفال‬ ‫هذه املنطقة خم�س�سة للعب الأطفال يف �سالة‬ ‫املغادرين‪ ،‬وقد �سممت بحيث تتيح لل�سغار ق�ساء‬ ‫‪18‬‬

‫اأحزمة لنقل االأمتعة يف املطار وذلك لتجنب انتظار‬ ‫امل�شافرين لفرتات طويلة عند اإجراءات ال�شعود‬ ‫اإىل الطائرة‪ .‬كما قامت بتد�شني اأجهزة لوزن‬ ‫االأمتعة ت�شاعد امل�شافرين على جتنب الوزن الزائد‬ ‫عند اإجراءات ال�شعود اإىل الطائرة‪ .‬هذا اإىل جانب‬ ‫تد�شني مناطق خم�ش�شة للم�شافرين الدائمني‬ ‫عند القيام باالإجراءات الالزمة‪ .‬ول�شمان تي�شري‬ ‫رحالت امل�شافرين يف مطار ال�شارقة الدويل‪ ،‬متت‬ ‫اإ�شافة ‪ 20‬من�شة الإمتام اإجراءات ال�شفر وال�شعود‬ ‫اإىل الطائرة‪.‬‬ ‫الراحة والسالمة‬ ‫�شعي ًا من «ال�شارقة خلدمات الطريان» لتقدمي �شبل‬ ‫الراحة وال�شالمة للم�شافرين‪ ،‬مت تطوير خدمات‬ ‫نوعية اإ�شافية ت�شمل خدمة «هال» املخ�ش�شة‬ ‫لال�شتقبال والرتحيب‪ ،‬واإمكانية ا�شتخدام �شاالت‬ ‫الركاب اجلديدة مقابل ر�شوم‪ .‬كما ميكن للم�شافرين‬ ‫التمتع باأ�شهى الوجبات ال�شاخنة والباردة وامل�شروبات‬ ‫وا�شتخدام مرافق اال�شتحمام باأ�شعار تناف�شية‪ ،‬اإىل‬ ‫جانب التمتع جمان ًا بخدمة االإنرتنت الال�شلكية «واي‬ ‫فاي» وباإطاللة رائعة على حركة الطائرات يف املطار‪.‬‬ ‫المسؤولية البيئية‬ ‫تبنت �شركة ال�شارقة خلدمات الطريان برناجم ًا‬ ‫للمحافظة على البيئة يهدف اإىل احلد من انبعاثات‬ ‫الكربون‪ ،‬حيث اأ�شبحت م�شوؤولية املحافظة على‬ ‫البيئة حمور خطط اأعمالها املتبعة ‪ .‬واأطلقت ال�شركة‬ ‫�شمن هذا ال�شياق جمموعة من الربامج تركز على‬ ‫احلد من االآثار ال�شلبية الناجتة عن عملياتها التي قد‬ ‫توؤثر يف البيئة‪u .‬‬

‫افتتح مطار ال�شارقة‬ ‫الدويل مدرج ًا بلغت‬ ‫تكلفته ن�شف مليار درهم‬ ‫قادر ًا على ا�شتقبال اأكرب‬ ‫الطائرات يف العامل‪.‬‬ ‫خطوة نحو مستقبل مشرق‬ ‫�شهد ‪ 22‬اأكتوبر ‪ 2014‬خطوة جديدة لتاريخ مطار‬ ‫ال�شارقة الدويل مع افتتاح املدرج الثاين واحلديث‬ ‫للمطار‪ .‬وقد قام �شاحب ال�شمو ال�شيخ الدكتور‬ ‫�شلطان بن حممد القا�شمي ع�شو املجل�س الأعلى‬ ‫حاكم ال�شارقة‪ ،‬بافتتاح املدرج اجلديد وذلك‬ ‫مع اإقالع طائرة �شموه كاأول طائرة تقلع وتهبط من‬ ‫على املدرج‪.‬‬ ‫وبلغت تكلفة املدرج الذي يبلغ طوله ‪ 4060‬وعر�شه‬ ‫‪ 60‬مرتاً‪ ،‬ن�شف مليار درهم اإماراتي‪ .‬وقد مت ت�شميم‬ ‫املدرج ل�شتقبال اجليل اجلديد من الطائرات‬ ‫من طراز «‪ »F‬اإىل جانب اأ�شخم طائرة يف العامل‬ ‫اإيربا�س ‪ A380‬وبوينج ‪ 747-800‬والطائرات الكبرية‬ ‫مثل ‪ AN124‬و‪ .AN225‬وي�شم املدرج ‪ 8‬ممرات‬ ‫ربط وممرين للخروج ال�شريع بهدف تاأمني خروج‬ ‫الطائرات من املدرج الرئي�س يف اأق�شر وقت اإىل‬ ‫مواقف الطائرات‪ ،‬وزيادة فاعلية الربط بني املدرج‬ ‫ومبنى امل�شافرين ومركز ال�شحن اجلوي‪.‬‬ ‫أهم اإلنجازات‬ ‫حاز مطار ال�شارقة الدويل جائزة اأف�شل مطار‬ ‫لل�شحن �شمن جوائز مطارات الأ�شواق النا�شئة‬ ‫لعام ‪ 2010‬خالل معر�س املطارات يف دبي‪ ،‬وجائزة‬ ‫اأف�شل مطار خلدمات ال�شحن البحري اجلوي ‪،2010‬‬ ‫التي ت�شلمها م�شوؤولو املطار يف حفل توزيع جوائز‬ ‫«�شتات تاميز للتميز يف ال�شحن اجلوي»‪ ،‬الذي عقد‬ ‫يف مومباي بالهند‪ .‬كما ح�شد جائزة اأف�شل مطار‬ ‫عاملي يف عام ‪ 2005‬من معهد اإدارة النقل‪ ،‬وهي هيئة‬ ‫مرموقة ل�شناعات النقل واخلدمات اللوج�شتية‪.‬‬ ‫ويف عام ‪ 1999‬ح�شل املطار على جائزة امل�شاهمة‬ ‫البارزة يف جمال النقل من معهد اإدارة النقل‪ .‬وقد‬ ‫فاز املطار بهذه اجلوائز العاملية ملبادراته الرائدة‬ ‫وا�شرتاتيجياته املبتكرة‪ .‬وتعد ال�شمعة واملكانة‬ ‫العامليتان اللتان يتمتع بهما مطار ال�شارقة الدويل‬ ‫مبثابة �شهادة على جهوده الدوؤوبة والتزامه باأرفع‬ ‫معايري التميز‪ ،‬وكذلك روؤيته بعيدة املدى وتطلعاته‬ ‫لتحقيق املزيد من التطور والإجنازات‪u .‬‬

‫ويلعب املطار دور ًا حيوي ًا يف تعزيز م�صرية التنمية‬ ‫القت�صادية ال�صاملة يف الإمارة‪ ،‬وتر�صيخ مكانتها‬ ‫كمركز مهم للتجارة وال�صياحة وال�صناعة والطريان‬ ‫وال�صحن‪ .‬كما اأ�صهمت اخلدمات الرفيعة ذات‬ ‫الأ�صعار التناف�صية التي يقدمها‪ ،‬يف اكت�صاب املطار‬ ‫�صمعة طيبة على ال�صعيدين املحلي والعاملي‪ ،‬الأمر‬ ‫الذي اأ�صهم يف ارتفاع عدد امل�صافرين والطائرات‬ ‫وا�صتقطاب عمالء ال�صحن كل عام‪.‬‬

‫ويعمل مطار ال�صارقة الدويل عن كثب على‬ ‫جميع املحاور املتعلقة بالطريان مع موؤ�ص�صات‬ ‫متخ�ص�صة لدعم املعايري املت�صاعدة على الدوام‪.‬‬ ‫فعلى �صبيل املثال‪ ،‬تعاون املطار مع �صركة دوفري‬ ‫الرائدة يف جمال الأ�صواق احلرة‪ ،‬التي ت�صغل قرابة‬ ‫‪� 1400‬صوق حرة حول العامل‪ ،‬اإىل جانب �صركة األفا‬ ‫لتموين الطائرات‪ ،‬وذلك لتقدمي اأف�صل اخلدمات‬ ‫والت�صهيالت جلميع امل�صافرين‪ .‬كما يعمد مطار‬ ‫ال�صارقة الدويل اإىل التعاون مع اأكفاأ ممثلي �صركات‬ ‫الطريان لتقدمي الأف�صل للم�صافرين‪.‬‬ ‫سياسات تنموية موجهة‬ ‫اعتمدت ال�صارقة �صيا�صة الأجواء املفتوحة‪ ،‬التي‬ ‫تتيح للحركة اجلوية من جميع اأنحاء العامل‬ ‫الو�صول اإىل املطار من دون اأي معوقات‪ .‬وتتكامل‬ ‫هذه ال�صيا�صة مع الأ�صعار التناف�صية خلدمات‬ ‫املناولة الأر�صية‪ ،‬وا�صتخدام اأحدث التقنيات‬ ‫واملعدات وتطوير مرافق بنية حتتية فائقة احلداثة‬ ‫جمهزة بتقنيات وت�صهيالت قادرة على خدمة جميع‬ ‫اأنواع الطائرات‪.‬‬ ‫وقد اأتاحت هذه امليزات اخلا�صة ملطار ال�صارقة‬ ‫الدويل التمتع مبرونة وقدرة عاليتني على املناف�صة‪،‬‬ ‫ت ِّوجت بنجاحه يف اجتذاب اأعداد متنامية من‬ ‫الناقالت اجلوية‪.‬‬ ‫اجلدير بالذكر اأن مطار ال�صارقة الدويل يعد اأول‬ ‫مطار يف ال�صرق الأو�صط يتبنى نظام تتبع ال�صحنات‪.‬‬

‫يحتفل مطار ال�شارقة الدويل بدوره الرائد يف تعزيز قطاع‬ ‫الطريان يف ال�شرق الأو�شط‪.‬‬ ‫يعد متحف املحطة دلي ًال تاريخي ًا على دور اإمارة‬ ‫ال�شارقة يف قطاع الطريان‪ .‬ويقع املتحف على �شارع‬ ‫ال�شيخ في�شل الذي كان مهبط ًا للطائرات يف الأيام‬ ‫اخلوايل‪ .‬ويو ّثق املتحف تاريخ ال�شارقة يف قطاع‬
