SIGNS OF A BAD AXLE BEARING IN A CAR

The axle bearings play an important role in a car.

They transfer the power from the engine and the torque from the transmission to the tires.

The axle bearings are vulnerable to damage because of their location under the car.

They can break if the car hits a bad bump or if it is driven with a bad carrier bearing.

These signs indicate that you need axle repair in your car.

If the axle is damaged the vehicle will strain to move.

CLUNKING SOUNDS

When you put your car into gear you may hear a sudden sputtering or clunking noise.

The noise will generally come from a specific point in your car indicating a problem.

Odd vibrations or rumbling sensation come from the wheels as you accelerate.

WHEEL VIBRATIONS

Eventually, the car will start to vibrate really hard & you will feel the vibration on the steering wheel.

The vibration varies depending on the type of bearings failure and the location.

Your car sounds like it runs fine and will go into gear but simply will not move.

CAR DOESN’T MOVE

When you hit the gas your engine will only rev and you will not move forward.

This is often because the axle has bent or snapped near the universal joint.

There are many sounds coming from a car that is the reason for concern.

HUMMING NOISES

A humming noise while driving can be caused due to tires, wheel bearing, or CV joint.

Bad wheel bearings will be accompanied with a screeching sound or deep grinding.

The classic sounds of a bad axle bearing are cyclic chirping, squealing, and growling noise.

SQUEALING & GROWLING

The sound can be related to wheel bearings if it changes in proportion to vehicle speed.

The sound can get worse with every turn, or it can disappear momentarily.
