OFFICIALS CELEBRATED IN MAY’S NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK
The month of May saw thousands of sporting volunteers around the country celebrated via Australian Sporting Commission's National Volunteer Week.
Motorsport Australia was part of the celebrations as there are more than 9,000 passionate individuals who volunteer their time and energy to serve as Motorsport Australia officials at events all around the country, as well as the thousands of volunteers who serve their clubs as administrators.

Without these dedicated individuals, the sport would not survive as they are integral to the safe and organised running of grassroot, state, national and international motorsport events. Often considered the best seat in the house, being a Motorsport Australia official is also about being part of a family who share the same passions and common interests in motorsport.
From scrutineers, timekeepers and flag marshals to Race Control, club administrators and event secretaries, the many roles of officials are vital to the successful running of the sport.
Motorsport Australia President Andrew Fraser paid tribute to the individuals who volunteer for the betterment of the sport.
“National Volunteers Week is an important week because it not only gives us another opportunity to appreciate and recognise our incredible officials, but all volunteers around the country,” Fraser said.
“There’s no doubting the impact the volunteers have on sport in this country – especially in motorsport because without the tireless efforts of our Motorsport Australia officials, our sport would not be the same.
“So on behalf of Motorsport Australia, I would like to thank all volunteer officials, club administrators and event organisers for their outstanding output and support every year and more importantly, their general passion for the sport.
“Whether their desire to be part of the sport is due to being a car enthusiast, or for the love of racing or just that they enjoy spending time with like-minded people, there is no doubt Motorsport Australia officials are the lifeblood of this sport and the best in the world.”
