Dawn of a new age
Fleet management gets easier with Aquarius IT’s integrated and connected systems
FLEET COMPLIANCE AND DATA MANAGEMENT
Aquarius IT is celebrating 18 years of reliable technological solutions for operators with a new website, logo and brand identity. Focused on providing innovative fleet compliance and data management systems, the new look encompasses its forward-thinking approach for all aspects of the company.
Since the firm’s inception Aquarius IT has developed real-life technology solutions to enable operators to easily monitor and manage all aspects of fleet management data relating to the vehicle and driver activity.
To reflect Aquarius IT’s approach to integrated and connected systems for all aspects of fleet management, the rebrand projects its goals for the future. Its systems work together to consolidate fleet management to one user-friendly platform that can be securely accessed by employees and administrators.
Not only is this a more efficient way to oversee admin but it is also a greener approach to relocate data that was previously all paper based or on standalone digital systems. Consolidating fleet management to a digital management platform allows paperwork to be dealt with quickly and tracked through the system to minimise errors and misplaced documents. This provides a streamlined solution that saves time and money.
DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
Aquarius IT monitors driver and vehicle data using tachograph analysis (ClockWatcher Elite), asset maintenance, vehicle defects, remote downloading, driver debriefs (eSIGN), PoD, employees’ time and attendance, and licence checking, plus the latest electronic document management system and the Aquarius IT app.
The document management system allows operators to organise and improve
internal communications, store policy documents and create training materials. The system can also be used to capture employee signatures and host evidence photos such as driving licences.
The app facilitates digital vehicle defect checks by either completing one of the pre-set templates or bespoke templates can be built for specific vehicle types and requirements. The app ensures full visibility of daily checks and makes the process more straightforward for drivers.
Aquarius IT customer services director Mark Johnston says: “As a company, we have seen considerable growth over the past 18 years, with our solutions-led fleet compliance and Earned Recognition-approved management systems. We are proud of our success and our continued commitment to helping road transport operators embrace all the developments in digital technology.
“We have all been on a digital journey, especially over the past couple of years, and we pride ourselves on listening to customers and using our in-house compliance and IT expertise to innovate, problem-solve and create real-life solutions.
“This can be seen by the success of all our products over the past few years, such as asset maintenance and document management – in particular how they offer customers a reliable, focused and truly integrated compliance and fleet management solution.”

Brigade Electronics’ CarEye Safety Angle Turning Assistant reduces the risk to vulnerable road users
VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEMS
Brigade Electronics has launched an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) to identify vulnerable road users in a vehicle’s blind spot. CarEye uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect pedestrians, cyclists and objects travelling next to the vehicle.
AI calculates the future course of the other road user and the vehicle and anticipates whether the two are likely to cross paths. The system works by analysing images from cameras mounted on the vehicle to evaluate the speed and direction of vulnerable road users combined with the speed and direction of the vehicle to determine the probability of a collision.
The system is activated when the vehicle is travelling straight ahead, initiating a right-turn signal, cornering or turning, and also initiates even if signals are not activated. The driver is then
warned depending on the likelihood of an incident.
Warnings are issued either passively with a visual yellow alert if, for example, a person or object is moving away from the danger zone, or actively, with an audible and visual red alert if a person or object is at risk of being hit.
FALSE ALERTS
Distinguishing between the level of risk significantly reduces false alerts, as audible warnings only sound if there is a risk of collision. The red and yellow information signal has been developed according to the UNECE R151 (blind spot monitoring system) and is UNECE R10-compliant.
CarEye is suitable for all types of commercial vehicles and can be retrofitted to right-hand and left-hand drive vehicles. It comes with a two-year warranty and heated cameras so the system has an operating temperature of -40C to 70C.
The system has a self-diagnostic function so the device reports whether it is in operation or not and the software can be updated as required. CarEye increases the surveillance area of blind spots up to a length of 10m and width of 4m. It is fully operational in low-level light (2 to 20 lux ambient lighting) and difficult weather conditions.
Brigade’s product portfolio includes 360-degree camera systems, camera monitor systems, white sound reversing alarms, obstacle detection sensors, obstacle-detection radar and digital recorders.
Brigade Electronics UK marketing manager Emily Hardy says: “The accuracy of CarEye’s AI makes false alerts extremely rare and provides drivers with absolute peace of mind that they can manoeuvre their vehicle with the utmost safety. The system is able to differentiate between cars, trucks, people, bicycles and static objects, such as trees or bollards. Movement and the expected direction is then calculated, making the system extremely reliable.
“141 cyclists were killed and 4,215 seriously injured due to road traffic collisions in 2020. One in three of those accidents could have been prevented with a sideguard assistant, such as CarEye. This makes such technology crucial in enhancing safety for every road user and helping to save lives.”

FINANCE SOLUTIONS
In 2021, nearly 400,000 new commercial vehicles were registered in the UK. To give this some context, since 2003, only 2015 and 2016 saw higher figures. HGV registrations, meanwhile, increased 12.9% in 2021 and have continued to rise into 2022, according to figures from the DfT.
All these new vehicles require funding; as long-term funders of the haulage sector with 35 years’ experience helping operators fund trucks and trailers, Close Brothers Asset Finance provides funding for customers looking to buy new or upgrade existing fleets.
BROAD UMBRELLA
Close Brothers Asset Finance Transport division CEO John Fawcett says: “There are various products that come under the broad umbrella of asset finance, with one of the key ones being refinancing or

full value of the equipment is repaid to the finance company, plus interest, over the lease period.
At the end of the term, the company can choose to continue to use the asset by entering a secondary rental period; sell the asset and keep a portion of the income from the sale, or return it.
Fawcett says: “It’s important to understand that at Close Brothers Asset Finance we ensure each deal is bespoke to a customer’s needs; by offering a personal face-to-face or virtual service, we look outside the box to provide the solution needed.
“Each product is tailored to a customer’s individual needs – it’s not one-size-fits-all. Our evolution is about ensuring we’re flexible to customers’ changing needs, offering agreements that fit their cash flow requirements at any given time, rather than merely providing a standard vanilla offering.”
FLEXIBLE PAYMENTS
According to Fawcett, the highest levels of demand in the haulage sector is for larger payload-capacity vehicles, from long wheelbase LCVs through to larger units.
capital release; it’s a proven way to make your assets work for you and release cash back into the business.
“It’s straightforward and works by the finance company purchasing the asset and financing it back to the client, with repayments calculated in line with the income the asset is expected to generate; at the end of the refinance term, the customer owns the asset.”
Other examples of asset finance Close Brothers offers include hire purchase (HP) and finance lease. HP allows the customer to buy the equipment on credit. The finance company purchases the asset on behalf of the customer and owns the asset until the final instalment is paid, at which point the customer is given the option to buy it.

“The emerging trends for haulage finance is the need for flexible payment structures to match income streams, plus seasonal cash-flow peaks and troughs to support the affordability of operators’ monthly commitments.”

Ditch the paper charts and cards: web-based Getting smarter
TACHOGRAPH ANALYSIS AND COMPLIANCE
Descartes supplies industryleading tachograph analysis and compliance management software. SmartAnalysis is a cloud-based service used to analyse analogue and digital tachograph data to make it easier to interpret data.
SmartAnalysis is used to analyse more than 1 million tachograph records every month. Paper charts, digital driver cards and vehicle unit downloads produce masses of tachograph data that is difficult to interpret and use.
SmartAnalysis does the hard work for operators in analysing and reporting from tachograph data.
To make the data easier to understand, SmartAnalysis has standard compliance management reports that can be sent straight to an email. SmartAnalysis also includes drivers’ hours KPIs for the DVSA’s Earned Recognition scheme.
SmartAnalysis also benefits from SmartAlerts, automated email alerts to
flag any compliance issues that require immediate attention.
Pre-paid plans are the most cost-effective way to subscribe to SmartAnalysis, from £40 per driver per year. New pre-pay customers can purchase a 14-month subscription for the price of 12 months. For fleets with more than 10 drivers, pay-as-you-go accounts are available at 25p per driver per working day for digital driver downloads. There is no charge for vehicle unit (VU) downloads.
Descartes also offers SmartLicence, an automated online driving licence and driver CPC verification solution to ensure all drivers hold a valid driving licence and CPC.
SmartCheck, a walkaround driver vehicle safety check platform, is also available as part of Descartes’ SmartCompliance software.
SmartCompliance is a single platform that provides access to SmartAnalysis, SmartLicence and SmartCheck all in one place, with one login.
To make the process of gathering tachograph data less time intensive, SmartAnalysis uses SmartDownload to automatically conduct remote tachograph data downloads. This is the most up-to-date way of collecting driver card and vehicle unit data from the latest digital tachographs and ensures no data is missed and unaccounted mileage is minimised.
MOBILE NETWORKS
All this happens in the background over mobile networks; the company card can stay in the depot and does not need to be moved between vehicles. SmartDownload takes away the headaches associated with managing and controlling the time-consuming process for downloading digital tachograph data. This is a problem for fleets of all sizes but especially when drivers, vehicles and depots are country-wide.
As a web-based system, SmartAnalysis has been designed to be easy and intuitive to use. No IT support is needed to set up an account and start analysing data, but if operators need support Descartes’ customer service is on hand to help with any enquiries.
SmartAnalysis can be accessed from anywhere and helps keep fleets compliant with current and changing regulations.

Boxing in Europe
DKV’s Box Europe reduces admin and costs for drivers and operators using toll roads
DKV BOX EUROPE
Tolls create additional admin and hassle for drivers but DKV’s Box Europe, the European Electronic Tolling Service (EETS)-enabled box, allows tolls to be condensed into one invoice to make life easier for everyone.
The DKV Box Europe is used in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, as well as Liefkenshoek (Belgium), Warnowquerung and Herrentunnel (Germany). Soon to adopt the system are the Scandinavian
bridges (Oresund & Storebaelt), Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
To ensure the correct toll is charged, vehicle details can be imputed into the device, including language, number of axles, semi-trailer weight and cost centre. This is important when travelling on toll routes through Germany and Austria.
The system benefits from over-theair updates so toll routes can be booked on the go or the On Board Unit (OBU) can receive software updates on the go. The OBU is powered by a 12V supply or it can be hardwired into the vehicle’s electrics by a workshop.
For the OBU to work most effectively
it should be placed on the inside of the windscreen so the system can interact with toll booths. The OBU will illuminate different colours to indicate the vehicle is travelling on a booked route.
The system is designed to streamline the toll process so drivers can travel on toll routes without stopping and all fees will be consolidated into one invoice to simplify admin. The cost of the box is tailored to the individual company and intended usage.

DATANOZZLE
Removing opportunities for human error is the holy grail for data collection, which is exactly what FuelTek’s Datanozzle is designed to do. Available on any of the fuel management specialist’s FT4000 Fuel Access Control Terminals, it is a cable-free proximity reader that removes the need for the driver to manually record information about fill-ups, which they are required to do with traditional key, tag, card and keypad methods.
The device takes the form of a boot mounted on the nozzle – so it looks no
different to a conventional set-up. It is manufactured from high-impact nylon, is easy to install and links to a proximity tag attached to the fuel tank.
It automatically generates a reading when the nozzle is inserted into a tank, gathering all of the vehicle’s details. The
The Datanozzle cuts out driver intervention and seamlessly captures information. It is guaranteed to a minimum of 100,000 read and write cycles and the company retains data for at least 10 years, which it collects via a high-security authentication and cryptographic algorithm.
Data can also be fed into the company’s Tankwatch online fuel management system to produce vehicle usage reports, which can be accessed from any internet-enabled device (desktop computer, tablet or smartphone), while reports can be automated so they can be delivered at any time, 24 hours a day at a pre-determined time.

TRACKING SYSTEM
G-Lok Systems’ trailer tracking system Gloke provides a low-cost, low-maintenance option for operators.
Most trailer tracking systems provide little in the way of detail and those that do tend to be expensive and labourintensive to fit and maintain.
Gloke is designed to keep operators regularly updated on the whereabouts of their trailers. It is powered by batteries and solar panels and therefore does not require a wired connection. The device has an intelligent charging module so the batteries or solar panels can be used to individually or simultaneously power the tracker.
Conventional trailer tracking units rely on wired connections to operate GPS systems, which require a lot of power. Gloke uses a Sigfox (LPWAN) system instead of a SIM, which performs
a similar function to GPS but uses less power. The unit is designed to run indefinitely and does not need to be professionally fitted.
WIRE-FREE INSTALLATION
The unit is fitted to the trailer with four screws and as there are no wiring attachments, the device can be placed anywhere on the trailer. Gloke is waterproof and made from ABS, it is designed to withstand tough weather and washing conditions and can operate in temperatures of -30C up to 75C.
Gloke transmits its location every 10 minutes and transport managers can view the location
of trailers in real-time via the system’s online portal. Included in the purchase is access to a dashboard that features geofencing with notifications, movement history, device and battery health, customisable reports and API for thirdparty application integration. By contrast, some trailer trackers only provide updates once a day and operators may be charged a fee for additional location requests.
Gloke can also be used to track assets such as plant and machinery, although it is primarily aimed at small- to mediumsized operators that may lack trailer tracking facilities or are limited by cost constraints.
COST PER USE
Gloke starts at £50 per unit, there are no fitting costs and subscriptions are less than £2 per unit, per week. This makes it substantially cheaper than conventional trailer trackers that typically start with a three-figure up-front cost per unit and subscription prices can often be double those of G-Lok’s.
The system has proved its worth with hauliers. Fakenham-based operator Jack Richards trialled Gloke on 100 of its trailers in 2019 and fitted the units to its 987 trailers later that year.
G-Lok will soon expand its range to include its latest product, Asset Tracking V2. The device will feature the latest technologies such as Sigfox, NB-Iot and LoRaWAN and benefit from various sensors and over the air firmware updates.

Improve drivers’ visibility and eliminate blind spots with Lens-Tech’s Hi Vue Fresnel lenses
HI VUE FRESNEL LENSES
Lens-Tech designs and builds Hi Vue Fresnel lenses to help truck and van drivers see into their vehicle blind spots. The lenses are made from PVC or acrylic and can be easily attached to vehicles’ windows with a peel-back self-adhesive. They bend the light – and the view out of the lens – by 30 degrees, which is usually enough to eliminate blind spots caused by the likes of doors, panels and pillars. They are a simple, low-cost way of improving visibility and making vehicles safer.
Fresnel lenses comprise a concentric ring design that creates a short focal length. They are thin, lightweight, excellent at absorbing light and take up a nominal amount of window space, at 210mm x 120mm. They can be positioned on the nearside truck door’s window or its direct vision window to increase the driver’s field of view.
TfL’s FORS requirement for Direct Vision Standard compliance has shown that the majority of large trucks cannot
meet the Direct Vision Standard (only through window glass). This means that certain indirect vision devices (such as mirrors, cameras and monitors) have been sanctioned as the de-facto devices to aid driver vision.
The Hi Vue lens allows the driver to see around the front pillar where the door meets the truck’s windscreen. Positioned on the nearside truck door’s lower vision window in portrait format, the lens can improve forward visibility by 30 degrees. It allows drivers to see into
the area obscured by the windscreen pillar, considerably improving the ability to spot anyone or anything close to the front left-hand corner of the truck.
Lens-Tech chief executive Les Haigh says: “It’s very difficult to alleviate the blind spot created by the pillar and a pedestrian or cyclist hidden behind it is extraordinarily vulnerable.”
In trucks without lower windows, Fresnel lenses have traditionally been applied to the rear of the nearside truck passenger window in a horizontal format, to increase visibility below the door and mitigate lane-change and close proximity accidents. Adaptation of the existing product is not required for vehicles with truck door lower windows; it is simply a case of sticking the lens to the correct area of the glass.
LOW-COST SOLUTIONS
Lens-Tech supplies Fresnel lenses to customers in Europe, the US and Australia. In the UK, National Highways issues Fresnel lenses through the DVSA, police, highway enforcement officers and UK port border forces to drivers of left-hand-drive commercial vehicles. In the past 10 years, more than 400,000 lenses have been issued by National Highways to minimise blind spots on left-hand-drive vehicles.
Hi Vue lenses are a low-cost solution for operators looking to make vehicles safer. Prices start at £8.25, plus VAT, for individual PVC lenses or £7.65 for orders of 10 or more units.

SAFETY SYSTEMS
SM UK is the UK’s leading auto electrician for HGV and fleet operations. From safety systems that require the installation of modern AI sensors and side and rear cameras, to its trademarked Halo system, which provides better illumination, SM UK offers a range of services aimed specifically at driver fleet safety.
The team of 79 engineers can carry out installations on site or in its two main workshops at Tamworth and Leeds.
FUTURE-PROOFING
There is a trend towards future-proofing HGVs not least because of the shortage of new vehicles and the pending news from TfL regarding the Direct Vision Scheme (DVS) being upgraded in London, to a minimum of a three-star rating.
SM UK MD and safety guru Steve
MacDonald says: “This includes fitting a passenger-side lower truck door window, the latest AI technology from Brigade, including the SidescanPredict and CarEye, systems that effectively track potential collisions and use reverse noise alarms and cameras.”
The company’s trademark products include Halo and Red Zone. Halo provides a visual warning to vulnerable road users that a vehicle is turning. It combines lights, cameras, sensors and audible warning systems, thereby reducing the risk of collision, and is the ideal addition to DVS. The system was designed as a solution to scenarios where a pedestrian may be unable to hear or understand an audible warning.
All equipment is installed according to manufacturer guidelines and does not affect vehicle warranties. The products are also covered under SM UK’s threeyear warranty. All equipment comes with training for the lifetime of the product. If a customer needs assistance
SM UK provides training to ensure the equipment continues to be used in the safest and most effective way.
SM UK’s Red Zone is suitable for working on a construction site and was created to provide a visual safe working space and essentially marks out a vehicle’s working area. Red Zone alerts other on-site workers that the vehicle is in operation and gives a clear visible indication of the safe working space required for the vehicle operator. Made up of several LEDs, the Red Zone system is installed in a position that limits interference and provides the most effective illumination during the routine operation of the vehicle on site.
DRIVER COMFORT
As well as safety equipment, SM UK installs driver retention aids such as microwaves, fridges, smart TVs and storage. While the driving experience should be as safe as possible, SM UK is committed to making the overall experience more enjoyable, including drivers’ breaks.
“These simple upgrades can have a big impact on the well-being of the driver and consequently driver retention,” says MacDonald.

The new additions increase UK Truck and Plant Group’s capacity for dealing with LCVs. This has created a dedicated area of the workshop for these vehicles and given space back to the rest of the workshop to deal with heavier vehicles.
EFFICIENCY
UK Truck and Plant Group owner
Ashley Weller says: “With such a large variety of commercial vehicles frequently passing through our workshop we rely on efficient equipment that can maximise the space we have available. The new installations will ensure our light commercial MoTs, services and repairs can be handled quickly and safely.”
Totalkare area sales manager
James Atkins says: “It is great to see a well-established company such as UK Truck and Plant Group trust Totalkare to equip its Bedford facility. The new two-post lifts and a light commercial four-post lift will increase productivity in light commercial activities, benefiting the entire workshop.”
FIXED LIFTS
UK Truck and Plant Group has increased its LCV capacity with three fixed lifts provided by Totalkare. The Bedfordbased company was looking to improve its existing light commercial services and opted for a pair of Totalkare two-post lifts and one light commercial four-post lift.
The lifts will be used in UK Truck and Plant Group’s IRTE-accredited workshop, which caters to everything from company cars to HGVs, offering full fleet care. Its DVSA-approved mechanics cover HGV repairs, MoT testing and services for HGVs and LCVs.
To maximise space elsewhere in the workshop, UK Truck and Plant Group chose Totalkare’s two-post lift as a fixedposition lifting solution for all LCVs. This type of lift has a range of capacities up to 7,000kg, the two lifts installed at
the Bedford workshop have a SWL of 5,500kg, which make them suitable for vans with long wheelbases, tractors, emergency services vehicles and pick-up trucks.
FLEXIBILITY
The two-post lifts provide full access to the underside of the vehicle by lifting from the chassis without the need for support stands. The frame-free design uses minimal floor space as it has a double ‘S’ profile for maximum stability and each column has its own control unit, providing greater flexibility for installation in any location in a busy workshop.
To cater to larger LCVs, the four-post lift has a capacity of up to 6,500kg and a range-topping 6m platform. Unlike the two-post lift, the four-post can be surface-mounted or recessed into the floor to optimise space.
The four-post lift is also fitted with

DRIVER APP
TruTac, part of the Microlise Group, has launched a driver app, making a wealth of additional features and functions available to operators and drivers alike.
Formerly known as TruChecks, the app started life a decade ago as a facility for drivers to conduct paperless, walkaround vehicle checks. When it was launched, it was one of the first of its kind in the UK.
It is now simply called TruTac App, to reflect its complete overhaul and increased capabilities which, in addition to the core vehicle walkaround checking function, now include much closer integration with TruTac’s other software products.
ON HAND
Operators and drivers using TruTac’s multitude of systems, such as TruAnalysis, TruTime, and TruDocuments Premium can now access all systems directly though the app. In addition, the app can seamlessly send data from walkaround checks straight through to the TruFleet system for ease of fleet maintenance planning and to minimise vehicle downtime.
It also features an improved user interface, including clearer notifications, a dedicated accident reporting system, an updated traffic reports page and a light and dark mode.

platforms, which is rare in the transport industry because many organisations provide apps solely for Android, due to the complexity of tailoring products for Apple systems.
Also, by plugging into TruTac’s software systems drivers can do far more with the app than a simple vehicle inspection – one of the main benefits is the ability to see tachograph information and sign-off debriefs.
TruTac MD Jemma James says: “It’s fully configurable and scalable according to the modules the company has live. A decade ago, it was just about doing walkaround checks. That’s changed hugely to enable access to the document library, uploading documents, requesting holidays and a host of integrated features.
“Moreover, because of the changes in technology on both the Apple and Android platforms, rather than tweak the app, we wanted to make a completely new one. It now has additional security features, greater configuration and more functionality.”
COMPLIANCE ISSUES
Most drivers, according to TruTac, are using the app to check for compliance-related issues such as infringements, driving hours and breaks. However, for TruTac customers to whom tachograph rules do not apply – for example, van operators, grey fleet vehicles, exempted heavier vehicles or public utility fleets – the TruTac App still enables drivers to carry out walkaround checks for routine safety and daily compliance control.

While the primary application of the BrakeSafe is operational safety, the system helps to prevent reputational, vehicle and property damage and protects the surrounding environment and community. BrakeSafe is especially crucial when the vehicle is towing a trailer, where the driver is likely to be operating at the rear of the vehicle near the trailer.
The system detects instances where the park brake should be applied and gives an audible warning to prompt the driver to manually apply it. Even if the ignition is off BrakeSafe will sound an alarm and engage the park brake.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
If the system is activated, the driver can reset it so it is ready to prevent rollaways again. Partnered with the company’s DVR camera recording system, any BrakeSafe activations can be reviewed in full to establish what triggered the system. This allows fleet managers to identify requirements to retrain colleagues to prevent repeated incidents. The BrakeSafe system is also available with a warranty of up to five years.

SAFETY AND SECURITY SOLUTIONS
Vision Techniques provides comprehensive safety and security solutions for any size vehicle. The VCA-approved BrakeSafe was designed to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, other road users and surrounding property. The autonomous system can apply the park brake to secure the vehicle if the driver fails to and attempts to leave the vehicle.
If the park brake is not properly applied, any vehicle can roll away on the smallest inclines. The risk of rollaways
significantly increases with the size and weight of a vehicle, making larger vehicles such as HGVs highly likely to cause considerable damage if they move without the driver operating the vehicle.
SAFETY CONCERNS
Rollaway incidents have a high mortality rate, presenting serious safety concerns for businesses that operate HGVs and commercial vehicles. The park brake fail-safe system eliminates the margin for human error, minimising the potentially fatal consequences of tiredness or momentary lapses in concentration.
Vision Techniques also provides Ident Plus, a version of BrakeSafe that has anti-theft technology to ensure the security and safety of the vehicle. The company has a range of anti-theft devices so only authorised drivers can operate the vehicle.
BrakeSafe users include Flannery Plant, Flogas, DHL, Cemex, and local authorities Oxford, Durham and Glasgow Council have adopted the system. Hartlepool Council has paired BrakeSafe with Vision Techniques cameras to enhance fleet safety.
Vision Techniques head of operations Dave Smith says: “Our company’s purpose has always been to save lives. For many organisations in the private and public sector, the focus on vehicle security and safety is only going to increase, and while there’s a need to operate fleets efficiently, we’re seeing that many of our customers are putting safety and security first.”

PRO M ALL-IN-ONE DEVICE
With so many devices to keep track of, from work phones to personal phones and handheld terminals, it is often difficult to complete the task at hand. To make things easier, Webfleet has launched Pro M, an all-in-one, end-toend order management solution.
The Pro M eliminates the need for a separate work phone or additional device, as the system seamlessly combines the functionality of a smartphone with integrated order management, all at a competitive price.
Unlike a standard smartphone, the Pro M is designed to last longer and has several features to increase the device’s lifespan. It comes with a 4220mAH that can be removed and replaced, so if the battery becomes less efficient or sustains damage, a new one can be installed to improve usability without having to replace the whole device. This saves time and money, allowing devices to be easily repaired without having to outlay for a new device. It also features no ‘bloatware’, meaning there are no unnecessary apps that take up space and battery, all applications are relevant to the function of the device.
To maximise efficiency and usability, Webfleet apps are fully integrated with Webfleet Work App, TomTom GO Fleet and Webfleet Vehicle Check, which are all preinstalled. There’s also shortcut buttons to the Webfleet Work App and TomTom GO Fleet.
In addition to Webfleet software integration the Pro M also has accessories to make it easier to use on the go with a vehicle cradle and multidevice chargers available.
The Pro M uses a USB type-C charging port and has space for one nanoSIM and either an extra nanoSIM or microSD card. For complete functionality there is a 13mp camera with a flash. The hardware supports Android 11 but will be capable of running the operating system up to Android 14.
DURABILITY
The 5.5in display is tougher than a smartphone with Corning Gorilla Glass to protect against accidental damage. There is also the choice of the standard model, which is drop-proof up to 1.8m, or the extra-protect version, which is safe from up to 2.4m. Further to its hardware durability, the device can withstand extreme operating temperatures from -20C to 50C.
In terms of software, the Pro M is just as durable as it benefits from wireless connectivity and charging. In addition to standard GPS, it also uses advanced location services including Galileo, Glonass and BeiDou.
Pro M can be used as a standalone handheld or used in conjunction with Webfleet’s LINK tracking devices, which provide information on real-time location and driving behaviour of all fleet vehicles. For maximum security the device receives regular over-the-air security patch-level updates.
The device can be fully managed via third-party Android Enterprise solutions to allow for remote configuration and fast deployment of content. It is also compatible with Google Services in addition to Webfleet and Android management.
