Local conditions & weather This document has been prepared in good faith and is not intended to be an all encompassing alternative to essential personal travel requirements. We should not forget Iceland is an island in the north sea very close to the Arctic circle. Weather condition can vary quickly in the same day or even in the same hour. To get to some of the best highlights of Iceland we must do some gravel roads and some small river crossings. Gravel roads are considered national roads in Iceland and are classified as Forest Roads (Froads) Tehay are noemally well mantained but obviasly more slipery then the asphalt, you sholud ride

carefully and slow, specially in turns and crossing other vehicles. See his video

Weather As you can see from the graphic above, we will be travelling in Iceland in the best week of all year in terms of weatehr conditions. We can expect 10ºC to 15ºC with some small chances of rain. Confortable clothes, light and warm are the best option to deal with this Iceland Summer. A fleece wind stopper jacket, a warm cap, gloves and trousers are enough to deal with the cold nights. Check the check list in the end of this dossier for a resume of recommended clothes and luggage.

Luggage on the motorcycle Adventure Travel in a motorcycle make us to deal with limited luggage. We must guarantee our confort and safety and be prepared to face weather changes, frequent stops and unpredictable situations. For security and handling reasons we recommend you ride the motorcycle as light as possible, so no side panniers and top case will be provided. Some roads are narrow and with irregular surfaces, a heavy bike it’s more difficult to handle and you probably will be more often fighting with the bike then enjoying the amazing landscape. For adventure riding the correct luggage weight distributions is very important so instead of the panniers, we recommend you to use a waterproof flexible bag as the one in the picture. You can use it as cabin bag in your flight with your most important items.

The support vehicle will carry our main luggage bag to the next hotel but it’s always a good idea to take with you one full set of clothes and anything you need for a confortable evening if the support vehicle had to stop to fix a bike and take more then expected to reach the hotel. In your dry bag on the bike you shold carry: -

On full set of clothes Personal medicines flip flOps or sport shoes water energy bars or dry food photografic eqquipment (small camera, big one can stay safer in the support vehicle) - anything that you think it’s absolutely necessary to be confortable if you have to wait 2 or 3 hours in the hotel for you main luggage bag transported in the support vehicle

Luggage in support vehicle Your main luggage bag will be transported in the support vehicle. Each rider can take ONE bag in the support vehicle with maximum of 70 Lit and not more than 50cmX30cmX70cm We recommend you use flexible bags instead of hard luggage. You can transport more things in the soft bags and they are better to optimize the vehicle space and are easier for you to carry to your room.

You can find this king of bags in any sport store, they are normally much cheaper then the hard ones, they can be compressed if they are not full. The big bag were you carried your motorcycle equipment and extra luggage can stay in the Reykjavík hotel during our tour, we will start and finish in the same hotel. Remember!!

Most of the rooms have stairs, tight corridors, and no carriers available, it’s much easier for you to take a flexible bag to your room each night.

A good managing of luggage it’s essential to spend little time and effort to deal with it, and enjoy as much as possible the great places we will be visiting. Optimize and simplify should be your focus in any Adventure Riding Tour!!

Sport bags like that one used in diving or motocross riding, with small wells are perfect.

In the last two pages you will find a recommended luggage check list, hope it’s useful for you

Gadjets e power All the hotels we use will have wifi and most of the places we will stop have wifi to. Our support vehicle will also have a wifi router but be aware that in all this cases, the wifi speed it’s normally not very good (3G / 4G similar). Some of the places we will visit have great photography opportunities, the light in all Iceland in July it’s amazing so be prepared. We recommend small and light cameras, point and shot solutions with wide angle lents are great to capture the great landscapes we will pass. Not so much wildlife, so no need for big tele zooms. Keep in mind that if you carry a big and to complex photographic equipment you will probably lose time maybe the photo opportunity you can catch with a small and simple camera.

The energy plugs we will find in all Iceland are similar to the ones in all Europe, Type F, C and E as shown in the picture above. They give 220V of energy and you should carry a adaptor if your gadgets have another energy needs or plugs. You can find adaptors in most airports stores. If you have to many gadgets do not forget to bring more than one adaptor. The 3G cover more than 90% of the island. For security reasons every participant must carry an operational mobile phone always charged and ready to be used. Please check in your local company if you have active roaming in Iceland available before leave your country.
