Every child deserves a hero. Heroes are the heart and soul, fueling programs that give lasting memories through day camps, the joy of play through sports, the power of friendship to thousands of children and their families at our Y. Thank you for being Heroes to our children! We are proud to say that the First Annual Kids Need Heroes Gala was a huge success, raising over $25,000 to support youth programming at our YMCA. Congratulations to our award recipients: Joe and Mary Mottino, Genentech, and our Youth award honoree. We look forward to honoring more of the heroes in our community next year. Program Committee provides feedback from participants within our existing programs. This committee is designed to seek out improvements and they meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8:30am.

ENDOWMENT/ PLANNED GIVING COMMITTEE

Endowment/ Planned Giving Committee manages our Heritage Club members and prospective members. The committee meets on a quarterly basis: October, January, April, July.

CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT PROCESS/ PHASE II EXPANSION COMMITTEE Capital Development Process/ Phase II Expansion Committee assists in the planning and execution of Phase II of the Mottino YMCA. The Expansion Committee meets on a quarterly basis: November, February, May, August. YMCA members can register online 24 hours a day! Vouchers that are already on your account, can be applied to your purchase online. Please give us a call if you need assistance.

program prices You will see two prices for every program. The first price is the YMCA member price, and the second price is the non-member price. Program Fees are shown as: Member | Participant

Vouchers or Refund • Cancellations made before the start date of the program can receive 100% voucher or refund less the program deposit and non refundable program cost. • Cancellations after the first meeting of the program can receive a 75% voucher or refund less the program deposit and non refundable program cost. • Cancellations after the second meeting of the program will not receive a voucher or refund except for medical reasons with a doctor’s note and special circumstances at the branches discretion.

• Vouchers expire 12 months after date of issue. Vouchers are valid at any YMCA in San Diego County for any program or membership or service. A $5.00 voucher processing fee applies. A check refund can be issued less a $10 processing fee per person. Check refunds can only be issued for amounts over $20. Please allow two weeks for processing. The YMCA is not able to issue refunds directly to your credit card or in cash. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. * No vouchers or refunds will be given for dismissal due to behavioral problems or missed days due to personal reasons.

Joining fees are an investment in the future of the YMCA facility. Joining fees are paid upon activation of any new membership.

Membership Payment Members may pay with an “easy pay” monthly payment plan through automatic withdrawal, or pay in full for a semiannual (6 month) or annual (12 month) membership. You may have your fees withdrawn from your credit card, debit card, checking or savings account. Cancellations and all other changes to your membership must be received at least 10 days prior to your bank draft day. There is a $10 service fee on returned checks, non-sufficient funds and all other returned items unpaid by the bank. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

MEMBER GUEST PASSES Members are welcome to bring in a guest at anytime. All guests must show a valid driver’s license and complete a waiver to enter the facility. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian sign for them. Guests can enter our facility using a guest pass twice per year.

GROUP fitness classes membership means more at the y

All Classes are 50 minutes in length, and equipment is on a first-come, first served basis. Members must be at least 13 years old to participate in Group Fitness Classes.

Arthritis Exercise A class designed specifically for people with arthritis. Gentle activities to promote joint flexibility, improve range of motion and maintain muscle strength. Taught by Certified Arthritis Foundation Instructor. Beginner Yoga A class for beginners using props such as yoga blocks and straps for modifications. Bender Barre-None This interactive workout will show you how to use muscle elongating movement patterns to gain better balance, core stabilization and long lean muscles. BETTER BALANCE Improve your balance and regain your confidence. Class format includes fall prevention exercises, gentle movement, leg strengthening exercises and beginning Tai Chi flows. Each participant has a chair for support as needed. BooTCAMP A high energy, hard core class with cardio drills, intervals, strength training, and plyometrics. Develop strength, stamina and agility using Bosu’s, balls, bands, weights and your own body. Cardio Sculpt A complete overall body workout for all fitness levels. This class will combine cardio for calorie burning and body sculpting for strength and endurance. Chair Yoga Yoga while sitting on a chair. Modifications and self-pace will be emphasized.

Cycle Designed to increase your muscular and cardiovascular endurance. All levels welcome.

Power Yoga An advanced Yoga class incorporating intensive and challenging moves.

Drums Alive Golden Beats Sweat, tone and challenge your coordination. The stability ball is your drum and we provide the drumsticks. Participants may stand or sit. It’s a full body workout. This class is designed for YAA, but is open to everyone.

R.I.P.P.E.D. A “Plateau Proof Fitness Formula”. Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance and Diet. Step & Sculpt Cardio step moves with sculpting. Inter/Adv. level.

Family Yoga A parent & child participation class for parents and kids 5-9 yrs. A yoga mat is recommended.

Forever Fit I A low-impact cardio, strength training, balance and stretching class. Hand held weights, resistance tubing and balls will be used. Participants will be seated on a chair.

Forever Fit II A low-impact cardio, strength training, balance and stretching class. Hand held weights, resistance tubing and balls will be used. Participants will be standing and using a chair for the balance and stretching segment. Kickboxing A non-stop workout incorporating punches and kicks. All levels welcome. On the ball Working with a stability ball, light weights and/or tubing to develop muscular tone, core strength, and refine balance. Pilates Core and muscle strengthening, incorporating balance and flexibility moves.

Y Active Adults (YAA) Low Impact& Toning A class specifically designed for our Seniors; however, everyone is welcomed. A combination of low-impact cardio and toning using a variety of equipment. Yoga Slow down and enjoy the blending of mind, body and spirit through yoga poses, breathing and sun salutations. All levels welcome. A yoga mat is recommended. Zumba Instructor breaks down Salsa, Reggaeton, Cumbia, and Meringue for an exciting dance workout.

Accelerating you towards your goals

Team Challenge is the Mottino Family YMCA’s weight loss for life program. Lose weight and gain back your health. Each team will receive twelve 1- hour coaching sessions with a Personal Trainer and nutrition guidance from a Registered Clinical Nutritionist. Team Challenge will run January 28th- March 8th. All TEAM Challenge participants are required to attend the orientation on Thursday, January 24th at 6:00pm. Stop by the Member Service desk or call 760.758.0808 to sign up today!

child watch

Keeping kids safe

Child Watch is included with a Family Membership or One Parent Family membership once per day. We will watch your children for up to 1 hour and 45 minutes. Our highly trained, caring staff will lead your child in crafts, coloring, puzzles, free-play, story-time, dress-up, games, sports and more!

All staff are infant-adult CPR, First-Aid and AED certified, and are carefully background and reference checked. We maintain strict child to staff ratios - 4:1 infants to staff, 8:1 toddlers to staff, 10:1 kids to staff. Parents will be paged if a diaper change is needed. Please, no food or outside toys in Child Watch, and label any bottles or sippy cups you bring. For the health of everyone, please don’t bring sick children to Child Watch.

As kids grow they are refining their fine motor skills, building muscle, and establishing healthy patterns that can last a lifetime. Kids love being active as they learn the fundamentals of ballet and tap in our encouraging character building environment. There will be a recital in the spring. Participants who want to perform in the recital will need to sign up for 2 sessions leading up to the recital month. The recital is optional and requires the purchase of a costume. The tap portion of the class begins teaching foot placement, timing, rhythm, and coordination. SWIM LESSONS

Through our aquatics program, youth and adults can learn positive values and vital safety skills through swimming. Please sign up early because lessons fill up quickly. Sign ups close once a sessions starts. In certain circumstances it is still possible to register by speaking to our Aquatics Director. Unfortunately, we do not offer make-up classes. Credits and refunds require a doctor’s note for processing and approval.

Preschool swim lessonS SKIPPERS (Ages 6 mo - 5 years): SHRIMP, KIPPER, INIA, PERCH, PIKE, EEL, RAY, STARFISH These classes accommodate participants ages six months to five years, and are 30 minutes in length. SKIPPERS classes may be combined to meet the varied enrollment. Parents must accompany their child to class and remain in the Pool Area for the duration of the lesson.

SHRIMP & KIPPER (PARENT- TOT I) This class is designed for beginners and ages 6-36 mo. Children will be encouraged in a swimming pool with a focus on developing basic swimming skills such as floating, kicking, paddling, blowing bubbles and breath control. The children will also learn how to interact with an instructor and become accustomed to a swim lesson environment. Participants are required to wear tight-fitting swim diapers while in the pool. Adults must accompany their child into the pool.

INIA & PERCH (PARENT- TOT II) The Parent-Tot II class is for ages 18-36 months with prior swim lesson experience, ready for the next step in their progression. The children will focus on swimming techniques, skill retention and performing tasks on their own. Children will learn paddling, kicking, breath control, jumping, and eventually, independent floating and swimming. Swim diapers are required. Adults must accompany their child into the pool.

PIKE (AGES 3- 5) This class is designed for those participants with little to no swimming ability. Children will work towards accomplishing kicking, front and back floating, breath control and independent swimming.

eeL (AGES 3- 5) This class is designed for children who can swim 10 feet independently with their face in the water. Participants will work toward accomplishing breathing techniques, coordination of the front crawl stroke, kicking on their front as well as their back, and deep water adjustment.

RAY & STARFISH (AGES 3- 5) Designed for children who can swim on their back and who are learning to coordinate the front crawl stroke with side breathing. Participants will work toward accomplishing rotary breathing, backstroke, and treading water. Participants will also work on work on elementary backstroke, breaststroke and diving.

YOUTH SWIM LESSONS (Ages 6-12): POLLIWOG, GUPPY, MINNOW, FISH, FLYING FISH, & SHARK These classes are designed for participants 6-12 years of age, and are 40 minutes in length. Youth lessons may be combined to meet the varied enrollment. Parents must accompany their child to class and remain at the pool for the duration of the lesson.

polliwog (AGES 6-12) This class is designed for those individuals with very little swimming ability. Participants will work toward accomplishing front and back floating, kicking, independent swimming and comfort in deep water.

This class is designed for those participants who are learning to swim the crawl stroke with their face in the water. Individuals will work toward accomplishing side breathing with the front crawl, back crawl, underwater swimming and deep water confidence.

Swimmers ages 5-17 will focus on learning and perfecting the four competitive strokes. Coaches will work with the participants on speed, endurance, technique, in a fun and friendly environment. Our swim team participates in meets throughout the year in the Y Swim League.

MINNOW (AGES 6- 12)

Participants will work toward accomplishing the sidestroke, dolphin kick and basic lifesaving skills. The front crawl stroke, backstroke, breaststroke and elementary backstroke continue to be perfected.

FLYING FISH AND SHARK (AGES 6-12) This combination class is for strong swimmers only, please! Participants will work toward learning the butterfly stroke, as well as some competitive aspects of swimming. Participants will also work on endurance and basic lifesaving skills.

ADULT AND TEEN SWIM LESSONS It’s never too late to learn how to swim! Participants 13 years and older may register for swim lessons. The small class size enables our swim instructors to focus on each individual’s swimming needs. Participants of all abilities are welcome.

PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS For participants six months of age and older who desire individual instruction. Private lessons occur on the same days, times and schedule of our group lessons. Please arrange your own partner for semiprivate lessons.

SWIM STANDARDS POOL USE POLICIES

Children Ages 11 - 13 Children ages 11-13 may be in the pool alone if they pass a swim test. Swim tests must be taken every day. Parents MUST remain in the facility. Children Ages 14-17 Children ages 14-17 may be in the facility alone, and in the pool alone providing they pass a swim test. Swim tests must be taken every day. If they can pass a lap swim test, they can obtain a lap swim card and will not have to take daily swim tests. Thank you for your understanding and compliance with our policies. Our highest priority is to ensure that our members are safe and comfortable at all times. Children Ages 10 And Under Children ages 10 and under MUST have a parent present and in the pool with them at all times unless the child can pass the deep end test. If a child passes the deep end test, the parent may stay on deck. Swim tests must be taken every day to go in the deep end. Children ages 8-10 may receive a lap swim card and swim laps if they pass the lap swim test. If a child passes the lap swim test, they may swim in the water with their parent on the pool deck. If a child does not pass the swim test, they must either wear a life vest, or be within an arm’s reach of their parent. Children may be in the activity pool alone if they are tall enough to go on the slide (48 inches.)

Learn Lifesaving Skills through the American Health and Safety Institute. With over 30 years experience, Health & Safety Institute (HSI) is a proven industry leader and preferred provider of emergency care and safety training. HSI training materials are easy-to-use and innovative. Adhering to the most current scientific guidelines, standards, and expert recommendations, HSI programs offer students new ways to learn lifesaving techniques.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer This expert-level program helps keep healthcare professionals prepared and ready to respond as they encounter life-threatening emergencies, provide basic life support, and respond to choking and other airway obstruction incidents. ASHI’s CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer has been approved for training for Emergency Medical Services personnel and is accepted by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Course includes an online training that must be completed prior to class start, four hours in-classroom training, a digital copy of the ASHI CPR Pro Student Handbook, and the 2 year certification which will be emailed to the participant.

Basic First Aid ASHI Basic First Aid was created to help students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. The program is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and is consistent with recommendations of the 2010 National First Aid Science Advisory Board and OSHA’s best practices for first aid training programs in the workplace. Course includes an online training that must be completed prior to class start, two hours in-classroom training, a digital copy of the ASHI Basic First Aid Student Handbook, and the 2 year certification which will be emailed to the participant.
