Welcoming KidFest What is KidFest?

There are activities for children throughout the day, alongside a chance to meet author Polly Ho-Yen and take part in her doodle workshop.

Polly Ho-Yen

Small Hall - 13.00-14.00 Polly Ho-Yen used to be a primary school teacher in London and while she was teaching there she used to get up very early in the morning to write stories. The first of those stories is now a book called Boy in the Tower. She’s still writing stories and though she doesn’t teach now, she still visits schools … only now they’re all over the country. She lives in Bristol with her husband Dan who designs the covers of her books.

Pebble Painting

Look out for pebbles hidden around Moulton and re-hide them. On the day, come and paint your own.

Rubik's Cube Challenge

Can you solve the puzzle? Come and see how quickly you can do it and get your name on the leaderboard.

Flowers

Children and adults will love making a posy in this relaxing workshop, running throughout the day.

Sewing

Have fun with these craft activities and take home your amazing creations!

Professor Ham's Science Club 4

Get involved in a fun, interactive science workshop. https://profhamscienceclub. wixsite.com/website

Be prepared for some surprises! There will be flash story time throughout the day. Listen out for the secret sound! Plus many more activities including a Treasure Hunt and games.

Come and join the fun!

Eliza B Hill

Gar ry Dix

Eliza B Hill, whose books grew out of nurturing hedgehogs in her garden, will be selling her books and reading them at intervals throughout the day.

We’re thrilled that Garry Dix, author of The Brian Brackbrick series, is coming back to sell his latest book ‘Scowl of the Scorpion’.

Philip S Davies Main Hall - Signing books - All day

6

Teen / YA Author

Philip S Davies is the author of the Destiny’s Rebel trilogy of fantasy adventure stories for young people (suitable for ages 9 or 10 upwards, through teenage to adult). The books have been number one bestsellers at Blackwell’s in Oxford, and were Shortlisted for the international Crystal Kite Award from the Los Angeles-based Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

Stephen Collier Claret - 15.00-16.00

Stephen Collier came to creative writing late in life. He spent thirty years as a police officer, and then fifteen years running his own business, so had little time to write. He knew however, that one day he would find the time to write the crime fiction book that had been rattling around his head for forty or so years. Plenty of time for it to mature. In 2014 his debut crime novel ‘Blind Murder,’ was published. Although eager to get another novel under his belt, Stephen spent time learning the art of creative crime fiction writing and was conferred with an MA by the University of East Anglia in 2017. His second crime novel, ‘Driving Dead,’ was released in January 2019 and his next novel in 2020. He is currently planning a fourth book.

Julia Thor ley Claret - 11.00-12.00 Julia Thorley BWYDip has been practising yoga since she was a teenager. She now teaches hatha classes and workshops in various venues, including community spaces, gyms, spas and schools. She is also an author, and has combined these two aspects in Stripped-back Yoga, in which she has shared her thoughts on what she has learned on her mat. It’s not a ‘how to do it’ book, but rather a collection of anecdotes and observations on the strange, funny and thought-provoking things that can happen in a yoga class. In her session for the festival, she invites you to join her for a bit of time out, with some gentle yoga postures that can be done in the comfort of your chair. No experience – or Lycra – needed! She may be contacted through her website www.juliathorley.com and is also to be found lurking on Facebook and Twitter.

His screen work includes the short films Second Glance and Conference and a film adaptation of his one act play Timetable. His memoir Juke Box Karma, a mix of autobiographical sketches, cultural commentary and philosophical enquiry was published in 2015. He lives in Northampton.

Graham Evans Manfield - 11.00-12.00

Graham Evans studied Modern & Medieval History at the University of Sheffield. Following graduation he pursued a very successful career in wholesale Financial Services before retiring to follow other pursuits. He is the Secretary of the Northamptonshire Battlefields Society, and edits the Society’s quarterly newsletter, “The Wild Rat”. He regularly contributes to the Society’s monthly speaker programme. The book on the Battle of Edgcote is his first full length book. He has previously had articles published on a range of subjects from the Battle of Edgcote, mathematical modelling of Ancient Warfare, payment system implementation, managing business relationships and the impact of collateral regulations on liquidity in the user’s complex financial products. Is there anything for teenagers? We are delighted that young adult author Laura Wood will be talking about her books and answering questions, so get your questions ready!

What else can I expect to be there? In the Main Hall there will be many activities for all ages to take part in as well as a whole variety of stalls - a great place to start your Christmas shopping!
