Zali Akiba presented at the international Global Health Leaders Conference, which is a premier global health education program led by Johns Hopkins University students and faculty; emerging global health leaders in grades 9-12 from around the world learn from one another and some of the world’s leaders in global health and medicine. “Zali was admitted into this highly selective program and chosen to present. We sincerely thank Mounds View, the State of Minnesota and your community for nurturing future leaders in global health and medicine Zali wonderfully represented your school and state in our program ” Siam Rezwan, Chair

Zali discussed how 3D Bioprinting is revolutionizing global health and benefiting humanity as a whole. Youth In Government

Since 1946, students across our region have participated in Youth in Government (YIG), an immersive four days that includes focused discussions on current issues, a wide variety of social events, engaging evening activities, time for small-group reflection, and hands-on leadership development.

The program starts in late fall when students in grades 8-12 join or form a YIG delegation which will hold meetings for their group leading up to the conference High School students will choose to serve as legislators, judges, attorneys, lobbyists, media representatives, or cabinet members

In November, delegates from all over the state join an online training called LAUNCH to prepare for the conference. In January, delegations from all over the state of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin engaged in the 69th Youth in Government event! These 2023 elected officials are from Mounds View:
