Partnership Opportunities

ABOUT MBOSC Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBOSC) was founded in 1997 to support, preserve, and expand trail access and responsible mountain biking in Santa Cruz County and has since become a highly skilled trail stewardship organization with expertise in advocacy, trail and bike park design, construction and maintenance, and project funding.

MBOSC has proven to be an invaluable partner for local land managers, investing nearly $1,000,000, over 10,000 hours of staff time, and over 20,000 hours of volunteer time (a $550,000 value) in trail construction and maintenance since 2012.

We are driven by passionate volunteers and high-caliber professional staff who promote legal and sustainable mountain bike access through trail building, hosting races and events, and collaborating throughout the county.

We are focused on furthering our mission to make Santa Cruz the best place to be a mountain biker. With more opportunities to expand mountain bike access in the county than at any point in history, MBOSC is planning for how we can best grow to capitalize on these opportunities.

DIG DAYS & CREW LEADER TRAINING DIG DAYS

TRAIL CREW LEADER TRAINING

Dig Days are our exciting trail work events where 50+ volunteers donate a weekend day to help with trail maintenance or new trail construction. Each Dig Day provides the volunteers with coffee and breakfast snacks, lunch, and post-work refreshments, plus a prize-packed volunteer raffle! We get a ton of work done on our Dig Days, and leave time for socializing so that it is a fun, community-building event for everybody.

Our Dig Days wouldn’t be possible without our team of Trail Crew Leaders, who lead and manage our volunteers during trail work projects. Trail Crew Leaders attend a training series that includes three classroom sessions and three field sessions, covering trail design, trail construction techniques, and management. Upon completion of this training, the Trail Crew Leaders receive a hard hat, t-shirt, and hand saw, along with gaining all the skills required to manage volunteers in accomplishing our trail maintenance goals. In 2017, our Trail Crew Leader Training reached maximum capacity of 50 registrants within four days of sign-ups opening.

This season MBOSC will be working in Soquel Demonstration State Forest, Wilder Ranch, Pogonip, and DeLaveaga. Contact us for more details on the schedule and available sponsorship dates.
