Partnership Opportunities

Can You Dig It? We Can Dig It.

Get To Know MBOSC! Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBOSC) was founded in 1997 to support, preserve, and expand trail access and responsible mountain biking in Santa Cruz County and has since become a highly skilled trail stewardship organization with expertise in advocacy, trail and bike park design, construction and maintenance, and project funding.

We are driven by passionate volunteers and high-caliber professional staff who promote legal and sustainable mountain bike access through trail building, hosting races and events, and collaborating throughout the county. We are focused on furthering our mission to make Santa Cruz the best place to be a mountain biker. With more opportunities to expand mountain bike access in the county than at any point in history, MBOSC is planning for how we can best grow to capitalize on these opportunities.

Matt De Young Executive Director

“MBOSC is growing faster than I ever could have imagined, and that’s because of the incredible support we get from our partners, donors, and volunteers. The work we do wouldn’t be possible without the community that supports us, so I personally want to say thank you for being an important part of MBOSC. Looking forward, we have so many exciting opportunities coming our way, and I’d like to invite you to join us. Between the trail building, bike races, social events, and advocacy work we do, our plates are always full, and we’re proud to work hard with your support.”

Here’s How You Can Get Involved! So you want to get involved? Awesome! We have a number of exciting ways that you can support MBOSC, so take a peek and see what looks like the best fit for you!

Support Trail Building Efforts! Page 4-5 That’s what it’s all about, right?! Building and maintaining trail is the reason we get up and come to work everyday. You can help us with our trail building efforts by sponsoring a public Dig Day, hosting an employee Dig Day for your company, supporting our new Trail Academy program, or adopting a trail or pumptrack.

Sponsor a Bike Race! Page 6-7

If you haven’t already heard of the Santa Cruz Old Cabin Classic and the Big Basin Old Growth Classic, you’re missing out on two of the best weekends in this area! MBOSC hosts two world-class bike races, and they are a great opportunity to connect with a passionate community of bike lovers.

Host a Community Event! Page 8

Here’s where you can get creative and have some fun! We have partnered with some great brands to host awesome community events, and we would love to do more. Do you have an idea for a fun social event that would bring people together while also acting as a fundraiser for MBOSC? Let’s talk!

Stoke Out Our Volunteers! Page 9

Our volunteers are the air in our tires, the lube on our chain, and the oil in our forks. What we’re saying is we couldn’t do anything without them! We reward our volunteers with prizes throughout the season, so this is your chance to provide product that will get into the hands of some pretty incredible people!

Make a Financial Donation! Page 10

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the fundraising we do, and sometimes a financial donation is the easiest way to help. You can donate to the MBOSC general fund, or we can chat about some specific projects that need support if you’d like your contribution to be more focused. Page 3

Support Trail Building Efforts! Sponsor a Dig Day!

Support Our New Trail Academy!

Dig Days are our exciting trail work events where 60+ volunteers donate a weekend day to help with trail maintenance or new trail construction. We get a ton of work done, and leave time for socializing so that it is a fun, community-building event for everybody. You can even host your own Dig Day as a team building event!

We are launching our brand new Trail Academy, which is a series of classes that will provide valuable trail building skills. The in-depth class structure will appeal to a broad demographic, covering all aspects of trail-building, from the natural history of trails to wilderness first aid. This series of free classes is open to the public, which will broaden our volunteer-base and get more people excited to build trails! SUPPORT LEVEL

Sponsor a Bike Race - Old Growth Classic! The inaugural Old Growth Classic was the first bike race ever held in Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It was an incredible weekend filled with gravel racing, camping, great food, fun music, tasty drinks, and a downright amazing community of good people.

This event is held as a benefit for State Parks, who are great supporters and partners in the success of Old Growth Classic. The first event in 2018 could not have been better, and we are excited to bring the good times back in 2019.

“The first ever Old Growth Classic delivered wicked dirt ups, downs, and even some sideways with a Big Basin camping party at the finish. Thank you to the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz staff and volunteers for absolutely killing it on the first try. That event was perfectly organized, and I’ll be back next year.” -RYAN RINN Winner of the 2018 Men’s 30-39 Category Page 7

Host a Community Event! Community Events are your opportunity to do something unique that represents your brand while connecting with a passionate audience. We have partnered with some great local businesses on incredible community events that brought people together while raising awareness of the work MBOSC is doing. There are a lot of ways we can approach this, so let’s discuss ideas if you’re interested!

In 2018 we hosted a movie screening community event with Specialized and Patagonia. Hundreds of people attended and over $7,000 was raised for MBOSC in a single night!
