MVM FARM ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION PURPOSE: Assist the MVM Farm Manager in all aspects of farming on a community farm. Mountain View Market (MVM) Farm is open to the public and located at 2653 Snow Road, Mesilla, New Mexico. REPORTS TO: MVM Farm Administrator
PAY LEVEL: I STARTING SALARY: $9.15/hr STATUS: This could be one 30-‐40/hr position or these hours could be shared between more than one person.

or weekdays or weekends as weather and crops dictate. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Farm Manager with vegetable, fruit and herb production. Assist the Farm Manager with animal care including aquaponics and vermiculture. Assist the Farm Manager in the care of farm grounds, tools and equipment. Assist the Farm Manager with field mapping. Assist the Farm Manager in mentoring, instructing and supervising interns and volunteers. Participate in community outreach and activities. Additional tasks assigned by the Farm Manager or Farm Administrator. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid NM driver’s license. Must have basic understanding of plant needs and health for a variety of crops, and the initiative to learn more when necessary. Must have ability to lift at least 50 pounds and carry it a minimum of 200 feet, as well as complete strenuous tasks on a daily basis for long hours in extreme temperatures (including kneeling, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing a wheelbarrow, digging, etc.). Must be willing to do some evening/weekend work when necessary. Must be able to work independently and be self-‐directed. Must be flexible and able to adapt to last minute changes.
