SURF LIFE SAVING AUSTRALIA

Surf Life Saving Australia represents the largest volunteer movement of its kind in the world, managing some of the most dangerous and unpredictable beaches in the country. Over the years they have rescued more than 685,000 people. For every $1 invested into Surf Life Saving Australia, $20 is returned to the Australian community through its coastal safety, lifesaving, education, sport and recreation programs.

Active lifesavers require extremely high levels of personal fitness and strength for patrol, search and rescue and surf sports.

As part of the 2022 ClubGRANTS Breakers generously donated almost $6,000 to

purchase rowing machines for Wamberal SLSC. The machines will be used for warm-up prior to surf sports training and made available to club members for personal fitness training.

“Wamberal SLSC has been serving the community for over 50 years. It’s essential the club maintains member fitness to ensure the community is provided the aquatic safety by skilled volunteers who are physically up to the task,” said Wamberal SLSC Grants & Sponsorship Manager John Meares.

Improving Wamberal SLSC’s gym facilities ensures the future sustainability of the club by providing a community hub for those

seeking a healthy and active lifestyle.

“The project aims to help recruit and retain members who are part of our local community, in particular female members who are underrepresented as they move into the senior ranks of our club. Ensuring our gymnasium has equipment suited for our female cohort is important for supporting their return to training, volunteering and community service activities,” he continued.

Wamberal SLSC has a membership of approximately 500, including 380 juniors.

As COVID-19 restrictions eased and members return to the clubhouse for training, activities that promote health and

fitness are vital for their physical and mental wellbeing.

“This donation will lead to an increase in volunteers, resulting in a community with more skills in lifesaving, first aid and leadership that will serve and assist them in emergency situations,” concluded Mr Meares.

In the last year, Mounties Group’s ClubGRANTS funding has seen more than $1.2 million given back to the local community via 75 projects across Sydney and the Central Coast.

LOVE LANES FESTIVAL

Club Wyong as part of Mounties Group are a major event sponsor for Love Lanes Festival 2023.

Love Lanes Festival is an annual event held in Wyong in Saturday 11 February, with a link to Valentine’s Day. This one-day festival is a combination of colours, sounds, and smells with the buzz, hype and vibe of an outdoor community street festival encompassing the theme of ‘Love’.

Guests will enjoy live music, roving entertainment, food and market stalls, a kid’s zone, and circus precinct!

Love Lanes has engaged the incredible Wyong businesses and much-loved local organisations to bring you an array of fun. Encompassing four lanes, four stages and one park there is something for everyone.

From Motel Mezza’s balcony, The Chapman Building Lawn, Bendigo Bank and Musicians Making A Difference

(MMAD) stages, there are plenty of live tunes to sit back and relax to. The Club Wyong stand will be all loved up with Sharina Star giving free love readings with a crystal ball for members and our ‘Love Showbags’.
