This area is rich in copper, silver, lead and zinc, and mining has been the city’s beating heart since its inception and its single biggest employer. We truly are the City of Opportunity. Mining has also brought in dozens of different nationalities to our city, making it one of the most culturally diverse regional cities in Australia.
